Risky plan then, not many here will have the intention of forking out $$$. That is what makes this offer so attractive after all.
Except that some customers already have 10-20 of these servers. So those cost 20-40 EUR each per month to have.
2k servers in few hours and link leaked at IRC . ==> going there right away lol
over an hour trying to install Ubuntu now why can't I get any OSes to install
Was it leaked though? They've a link to the server on the footer of their main website.
My server has a Seagate Momentus 7200.4 with 35475 Power on Hours.
No one looks there. Certainly not checking if anything new has appeared.
I'd go as far as to say the majority of orders come from LET. This thread now has 16 thousand views, and over 70 thankies to the first post, with people routinely ordering 2-5 servers and some much more.
anyone to confirm this?
its all cool they should close now so it doesnt get overfilled and i can keep my perfomance
come on, it would be nice to have an onlinenet guy around here...
would be nice to get 500GB replacement drives when the 160s start to die..
I think they putted the link there today. A couple of days ago, while I was searching their site for the 10€ offer and similar, it did not appear there.
As of the publicity, it is a brilliant move that IMHO is targeting to the world of hosting specialists (small vps providers that want to rent 1-2 dedis to sell cheap service, programers that want a dedi for their work, server addicted like this community etc.).
If they can produce a large good fame and reputation in the battle they probably have with OVH in Europe and generally in the hosting world, a spend of 5-10K per month is just a good investment, especially when they use in their cheap servers recycled components (e.g. old HDDs), fulfilling empty rack space they probably have in their datacenter and having some incoming that they will use for more bandwidth, better agreements in buying hardware/power supply etc. (when you buy more, you can have better discounts by your seller, especially in power and bandwidth).
they have a good reputation since years lol
ovh is just hype
if that was online's plan, I would have limited it to 1 per person, it would still have the desired effect of getting people using online.net and hopefully upgrading. this is just throwing money away
Got one today that I'm going to use as a backup server. Lets hope they are still available in 24 hours when I'm able to buy a new prepaid CC. Support told me that it is limited time only.
too late to change their mind, I'm sure there are some that have ordered 20+ already...
said the marketing guy nr1 who went to school for 10 years
LOL
Just bought 2, got the first one in 10 mins
ermm how does one setup a rDNS for the ipv6 they give never done that
I have question I never used online.net If I not pay the invoice will it cancle my server auto?
Cancellation is required.
Does anybody know if Online.net does some sort of manual verification for new accounts? I ordered a server a couple of hours ago and it's still on waiting delivery, plus I get a "You are not allowed to order." error if I try to order additional servers (and yes, I opened a ticket; I'm just curious about other people's experiences).
From what I understand the limit was at 4. I ordered 3 and had them all delivered within <10 mins. I ordered a 4th about 10-15mins after those 3 were delivered and it's been stuck on Waiting aswell. I now have the 'You are not allowed to order error.'
Did exactly the same. I'm waiting for the 4th server. ) And i'm also not allowed to order more. :DD
@Riz @pbalazs123 Try now, it's a new day :-)
I got 2 (really not sure why). One up and running the other is still installing OS.
I got limited at 4 too, All were up in 5 mins
Well ~32k hours on my HDD. But how do i find out the model of the hdd?
