  • I've tried to buy the KS-1 previously and created an account at kimsufi but failed due to the prolonged waiting for verification, and now I'm trying to buy a KS-3 but it doesn't seem to recognize my account, I can login through the control panel at the main page but I can't seem to login or even reset my password via the "You are already a customer" section. I've tried to login into the control panel and trying to buy the KS-3, hoping that the session is there so it will auto authenticate but that didn't worked either. Anyone faced this issue before?

How did you get windows to run on ks-1

  • @joodle said:
bash: /home/iso/Windows_Server_2012.gz: cannot execute binary file

I need to check what was the problem, sorry about that!

Yeah, it's much better and safer to make your own image! Fast, secure and clean ! Glad you've installed it!

    Go back a page

  • I'll create some Windows images with the Virtio drivers in it. Plus i will create some images that can be used to install Windows on the Kimsufi servers

  • I wonder if the KS-2 has been offered in BHS. I'm looking at the KS-3 right now and it's tempting.

Pity that FR -> AU connection sucks, otherwise I'd grab a KS-1 in FR.

Don't remember ever seeing that it was. Also don't bother, KS2 is a crappy deal compared to KS1 and KS3.

were you using @alexvolk tutorial? how is the performance on a ks1?

Yep, performance is good. It has some hiccups every now and then, but it works great

  • Just ordered the i3 at BHS

    And once again...

    We check your payment manually

I've been getting a consistent 30Mb/s to a server in AU from my Kimsufi all day. Open up a few connections and I've easily got 100Mb/s to AU.

Not sure I agree. Perhaps more awesome than any LEB. But you'll get much better performance from many VPSes (with enterprise disk, better procs, etc.) than from an Atom.

    Just realized my Kimsufi seedbox was a 14.99EUR Atom...sheesh! Upgrading to a 14.99EUR i3.

    Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU D425 @ 1.80GHz, 2GB RAM, 1TB disk. Had it for ages though I think it's actually a replacement from about 18 months ago.

Well I didn't say more performant, I said more awesome :P

It may not be faster, but the privacy and freedom are unsurpassed. It's your own little server and only you decide what's happening on it, and what isn't. Not sharing that "enterprise disk, better procs" with hundreds of people who may be up to who the hell knows what, and with a nosy provider's "support staff" who can snoop on what you're doing, and can copy and examine all your data without you even knowing.

And regarding performance itself, what matters are simple things, such as... for example a blog or a forum page generation time:
    VPS: instant [v]
    Kimsufi Atom: instant [v]
and that's all there is to it, really.

Of course if you are running a website and you use cache into the ram, the cpu difference or disk speed won't affect you. Obviously privacy is the big plus with these over vps's, that and the 100mbit unmetered port

    Is your server still online?

You're creating a new Kimsufi "-ks" account independent of your old "-ovh" one, they make you re-do all that all over again. You can mention you had an -ovh account already (and which), may speed up things. But still need to re-send the docs. Also wtf, this is page 14 of this thread, and people only now find out most basic things like these?

I ordered one but used my card but forgot other options...

My bank just spanked me with fees after the charge clearing...

What bank? Barclays simply charged my at the conversation rate without any additional fees.

  • 1e10 said: Is your server still online?

Yes, but i ordered a new one, the i3 one in BHS

Nope, i used the same account/handle as the one i already have one kimsufi server on

Well my online banking isn't showing any additional fees. Was charged £15.20 which seems about right. 4.99EUR+9.99EUR(Setup)+3.00EUR (VAT) is £14.56 ATM according to Google.

Well yeah, but that's to a server in AU. Little different to a residential connection. Plus, ping is important.

@joodle it's because of your non-stop torrenting. They just want to verify your true identity so they can forward it to those pesky copyright lawyers.

once you have been validated is it possible to remove address information or change it or would that require validation again?
