    another offer, another round of all servers going down... even the website is down this time

    Exactly what would be the connection between the two things if I may ask? :)

    "all systems operational" is on your status page. Then why aren't you answering the ticket? And why hasn't my VPS been working for several days? Does your status page actually mean anything? i can't even rebuild my vps.

    Experiencing serious disk I/O issues on Z-1 — jbd2/vda1 blocked for over 241 seconds repeatedly, system becomes unresponsive via VNC while idle. No errors in dmesg, just the host not responding to I/O requests. Already opened a ticket requesting migration to a different host node. Hopefully @DeluxHost can get this sorted out.

    same problem here, vps unusable

    same issue also but not sure about which hostnode

    I've been experiencing these issues with DeluxHost almost since the day I purchased my VPS instances. Currently, 5 of my VPS are affected by recurring disk I/O errors, causing them to become unresponsive or completely unusable.

    I've reported these problems to support numerous times, but they keep coming back. Rebooting the affected VPS may temporarily restore access, but it does not fix the underlying issue.

    Based on the reports from other customers in this thread, it seems that this is not an isolated incident. I'm disappointed that these recurring issues have persisted for so long despite my repeated reports.

    I hope @DeluxHost will finally investigate the root cause and provide a permanent solution instead of repeatedly relying on VM reboots.

    The problem is not isolated. Since day one, the VPS I purchased has been completely unusable. Due to severe and constant storage I/O bottlenecks (with I/O wait spikes up to 99.5% and disk performance collapsing to 0.00 KB/s on standard workloads), the server freezes entirely and commands lag to the point where the system is unresponsive. I contacted DeluxHost by support ticket many times but to no avail. The final thing left for me to do is to request a refund.

  • Anyone else seen this promotional Halloween-preview offer, saying you will get 10% off your next renewal, which is valid for 3 days? There should be a link for it in the dashboard, but nothing there in my account.

    Also, since the Halloween-preview promotion ends two weeks before Halloween: Happy Halloween-Preview everyone 🔜 🎃👻!

    Hey! 😄

    The service must be active and paid, with no cancellation request and no open invoice for that service. The button also won’t appear if the 10% renewal discount has already been used on that service, or if renewing would exceed the system’s maximum advance-renewal limit.

    If your service meets all these conditions but the button is still missing, please open a ticket with your service ID so we can take a look.

It is completely unusable, and DeluxHost still hasn't responded despite my repeated support tickets. Honestly, the way DeluxHost is handling this is extremely disappointing.

    I've been waiting for two weeks now (since September 28) for a response to my support tickets #TMTG6EQ9XCRVO and #TMUSJGCU14BAA. You've had plenty of time to post more deals online. I wish you'd put as much effort into responding to support tickets as you do into trying to attract new customers.

    TMV2H1F8F24G0 & #TMV0SV0W9EUT4

    I can confirm the same issue here. After the promise to check, there has been no follow-up and no improvement regarding the I/O congestion.
    In my case 5 servers are affected.

  • I bought a Z-4 plan with an annual subscription. Initially, the server booted up fine, but after a short while it completely hung and became totally unresponsive. A hard reboot through the panel didn't do anything, so I decided to do a clean reinstall of the OS.
    That's where the real headache started: every single attempt to reinstall the OS ends up failing at the exact same final step with a "Booting server" error.
    I submitted a ticket, but support went completely silent. To make matters worse, I can't even log into my client area anymore — it keeps saying "invalid password". I tried requesting a password reset link, but nothing arrives in my email inbox. It honestly feels like my account got suspended or blocked for no apparent reason.
    @DeluxHost — If you guys are monitoring this thread and can fix this, my ticket ID is TMV0OQVTEC9AO.
    I see there's a reply on it via email notification, but I can't log in to actually read it or access my server because of the login block. Please check it out and unlock my account.

  • Our DeluxHost VPSs: measurements from 7 to 12 October

    A follow-up to our earlier post. We run six DeluxHost VPSs in the Netherlands (F-4, Z-4 and L-4) in a small Kubernetes cluster. Next to them run four VPSs at another provider with the same operating system and workloads. Everything below comes from our own monitoring: CPU steal measured inside each VPS, disk I/O, and ping probes every 15 seconds from Frankfurt, Coventry and Amsterdam.

    We hold every VPS to the same bar. Over 72 hours:

    • CPU steal below 5% on average
    • no storage stalls
    • packet loss below 1%

    In this post the six VPSs are called VPS A to VPS F, the same labels as in our earlier post:

    VPS Plan
    A, E F-4
    B, C, D Z-4
    F L-4

    Our VPSs at the other provider meet that bar easily: about 1% steal, 0.1% loss and 20 ms round trips.

    TL;DR: after the migrations of 6–7 October, none of the six DeluxHost VPSs meets that bar. The disk freezes are gone, but CPU steal, packet loss and outages are not. We have asked DeluxHost for a refund.

    Six VPSs, last 72 hours

    Figure 1. Last 72 hours against our bar

    Last 72 hours: CPU steal 6.3–13.2% on all six VPSs against a 5% target, packet loss 1.3–4.5% against a 1% target, round trips 106–473 ms; our other provider: 1.0% steal, 0.1% loss, 20 ms

    • CPU steal is 6–13% on every VPS. On the same workloads at the other provider it is about 1%. Our own processes use only 8–22% of the CPU, so we are not filling the VPSs.
    • Packet loss on four of the six is about 4%, with round trips of about 450 ms. On the other two it was 1.3–1.4%. For comparison, to our other servers loss is 0.1% and round trips are 12–40 ms.

    CPU steal never reaches the target

    Figure 2. CPU steal per VPS, 7–12 October

    CPU steal per VPS from 7 to 12 October: all six are above the 5% target most of the time, two at 10–20%; our VPSs at another provider stay at about 1%

    Right after the migrations, steal on four VPSs dropped to 4–6%. Since then it has crept back up to 7–9%, with evening peaks of 10–15%. VPS B and VPS F stayed at 10–20% for most of the week, and only dipped to 6–10% today.

    At 05:45 UTC on 8 October, four VPSs jumped to 55–74% steal in the same five minutes.

    Packet loss, hour by hour

    Figure 3. Packet loss per hour, 7–12 October

    Packet loss per hour from 7 to 12 October: four VPSs are above 1% almost every hour, with several outages; our other provider is green throughout

    • Four VPSs (A, C, D, E) lose 3–10% of packets most hours. They move together hour by hour, which looks like one shared host or uplink. The loss is the same over the public address and over our encrypted tunnel, and the same from all three of our locations, so it is not one route.
    • 7 October, 16:50–18:20 UTC: all six VPSs were unreachable from outside DeluxHost.
    • 8 October, about 07:00–10:50 UTC: VPS B and VPS F were mostly unreachable.
    • 12 October, from 20:03 UTC: VPS C and VPS E dropped off the network without any change on our side. VPS C came back after about 15 minutes. VPS E is still unreachable at the time of writing.
    • The good news: VPS B and VPS F have had no packet loss since about 21:00 UTC on 11 October.

    Storage is fixed

    The disk freezes we reported in September, when the virtual disks stopped completing I/O for 20–70 minutes at a time, are gone. There has not been a single frozen minute on any of the six VPSs since the migrations. Credit where it is due.

    Where this leaves us

    These problems have run since early September, across four tickets and two rounds of migrations:

    • 36–65% CPU steal;
    • disk freezes;
    • a week of waiting for a migration that had already been agreed;
    • two VPSs that did not come back usable after it;
    • and now ongoing steal, packet loss and outages.

    Support does respond, and the storage fix shows the hardware can perform. But we pay for VPSs that work, and we have not had that from these six since we bought them. We have asked DeluxHost for a refund of the fees for these VPSs and of the remaining credit on our account.

    Hello, I opened a ticket because the VPS is down and I can't get it to start. You replied with the usual response, saying that everything is fine on your end. I opened a ticket and I have pages in production. Have you tried booting it or running any tests? I closed the ticket and opened another one. I need solutions, not excuses. The VPS won't boot, and the console doesn't work. I've tried starting it many times because it goes down frequently. Please take this seriously. Thank you.
    Ticket TMV7HMBHBRZ57

  • In the latest monitoring session, average %steal climbed to 3.36% while the VM remained completely idle (~93% idle):
    Here is the 100-minute average from earlier today:
    Average: CPU %usr %nice %sys %iowait %irq %soft %steal %guest %gnice %idle
    Average: all 1.55 0.00 0.87 0.14 0.40 0.52 3.36 0.00 0.00 93.16

    The hypervisor is now stealing significantly more CPU cycles (3.36%) than the VM itself consumes for its actual workload (%usr + %sys = 2.42%).
    DeluxHost VPS-1 Standard ($2/mo) — Continuous 2.6% to 3.4% CPU steal at idle.
    Sysbench single-thread scores float around 260–280 events/sec
    I have a server in NL for this money and it has 2vcpu and 0.35% steal.So I have something to compare it to.
