We've just rolled out an update that allows customers to create affinity rules to keep a group of VMs on separate physical hosts.

This replaces the previous Peer Server feature, which allowed you to select two VMs. With affinity rules, you can now group up to three VMs and manage all your rules from a centralised view.

This helps reduce the impact of a single host failure on applications running across multiple VMs. For example, if you have two web servers serving the same website, an affinity rule can ensure they are running on different physical hosts.

Regardless, in the event of a host failure, any affected VMs will be automatically evacuated to healthy hosts within a few minutes.

Also, is there any hope of getting S3 in Amsterdam?

  • Quite a sad day after reading your aup and seeing that moving my "important" vps over to you is impossible due to the gameservers that goes through it. Very unfortunate.

Any plans to change that in the future?

Their SG seems have cluster wide issue and their panel looks like located in SG. Anyone has more informations?

  • Onidel.com is down too.

  • jvekojveko Member

Can confirm this isn't just SG. My Onidel VPS is unreachable right now (no ping, SSH times out, site down).

Checked their own infra too and it's erroring on their side, not ours:

    • onidel.com → Cloudflare 522 (origin unreachable)
    • api.cloud.onidel.com → 502 Bad Gateway
    • kb.onidel.com → 530 (origin DNS error)

cloud.onidel.com loads but with the API dead the panel is useless.

Looks like a provider-wide outage. I've opened a ticket with [email protected] — anyone heard back with an ETA or cause?

This is reassuring. Any estimation for full recovery? Saw some VMs already online in the status

i think should be all good in around 30 minutes. we have thousands of VMs so they will be restarting one by one and some may take longer to get into the start.

Are there any issues at the moment? Can't access the Onidel site (Cloudflare 523) and at least one of my servers in SGP with a BGP session is down.

    EDIT: Oh, I see above.

I still don't understand why people host their company website on their own infrastructure, or put it up without a simple static failover solution to a "Ah sheiiitttt, we'll be right back" type placeholder message of sorts.

Well, seems to be going great now, right? A cheap Digital Ocean or similar VPS is like $5/mo and is the difference between a customer being able to access the company's main website to see if something is wrong or hunt LowEndTalk or other public forums to see if there is a thread with a link to a status page somewhere. You can still be confident while planning for such events.

But, it doesn't matter. I found this thread. Others, may not find it and they'll make whatever assumptions people may make when things are down and the company website is down. $5/mo for a failover VPS could be the difference between a customer's angry LET/LES/WHT/X or other post about not knowing whats going on and a calm, informed customer.

EDIT: Found the control panel login from this thread, that still works.

All my SGP stuff is migrating it looks like.

Well, that's true. And more reasons for LET provider to collect vps from other providers.

Also more reason for me to do the same too, haha.

Now I need second SGP provider with BGP at the minimum so I can do BGP failover to them or something.... I'll have to look more into that, something new to me.

So, while I preach about all eggs in one basket I'm guilty of doing the same. I have a SEA startup that relies on Onidel infra but besides some sites being served direct from Bunny, some of the backend/platform stuff is down still due to the announcement still being down. But that's an oversight and failure on my part to not plan accordingly.

LOL LMAO. At least tell me you have WAL or hourly offsite backup. It's morning on SEA tz. So, better deploy it somewhere
    As for BGP hmmm.
