MXRoute yay or nay?
So I like using MXroute, and unpopular opinion, but I like the new update removing Directadmin. It makes it easier to set up, at least for me. However, I don't like the fact that it's vibecoded. It has that soulless, vibecoded look, especially their main page. I also had another issue in the past where I couldn't access my email for a few days, if I remember correctly but that wasn't that bad.
Besides that, I love MXroute and how much they hate spam. But my main issue with it is Jarland... I'm just somewhat scared about the stability and trustworthiness of this service due to his personality and short temperedness. Will it exist in the next 10 years? Or will something worse happen, like what happened below, and somehow fuck everything up?
So that's why I wanted to ask, any other alternatives to MXroute with the following requirements?
- Preferably less than or equal to $10/year. Lower the better.
- Been in the game for some time.
- Reputable.
- Good spam filters.
- Considerably fast at receiving emails.
Or should I just stay with MXroute?
I already know Namecrane is an option, but I'm looking for other recommendations

My understanding is that he can be very hot-headed, but I don't think he's going to just shut down his email service. The worst danger is him blocking certain services that he has a beef with (e.g. no customers of AVS ISP are able to receive invoice notifications to mxroute because jar wanted to harm AVS ISP's business). But the service will probably last.
eh, as long as it works. i don't mind it. other then SMTP sending is borked, more of a inbox ig
If you mainly need SMTP for sending mail, I’d recommend Amazon SES. It’s very cheap, reliable, and has good deliverability.
If you only have one domain and just need normal email hosting, you could also look at Zoho’s free plan.
The issue is it is pretty niche area and there are not too many faces in it. @NameBig is probably an alternative but he is pretty new. And then cranemail. And usual big guys like SES, Oracle and a few others.
Yep, bit hot headed, can bite when presented bait, but he’s also super passionate about what he’s doing and he really appears in it for the long haul. If it works and if you budget is under $10 a year, then I’d stick with it.
Make backups along the way if you have any concerns. If you’re with MX Route you have your own domain/email address, so worse comes to worse you can always migrate to something else without too much pain.
When namecrane opened their eu server i moved to them. Mostly because I got one of the lifetime accounts and my mxroute account was coming to a renewal.
But i would happily move back to mxroute. I found their service to be excellent and it will take about three years for the move to namecrane to pay off.
I recommend Namecrane. I’ve purchased the lifetime plan, and everything is working fine so far. Customer service responds quickly! The only minor issue is that the sending speed is a bit slow, but it’s acceptable!

Well, MXroute is his baby, and he cares about it enough to keep it going for as long as he possibly can.
Yes, he can be hot-headed at times, but he's also very passionate about the service and what he delivers.
Personally, I don't see MXroute going away anytime soon.

+1 for MXroute. I use it for outgoing only (personal), and host my own incoming.
The route is good service for the price.
From what I've seen, I would concur with the opinion that MXRoute is probably not going anywhere. Clientele looks big enough that it's worth keeping it running and owner seems invested and engaged.
I can't comment on his disagreements and arguments with other people, other than that it has so far had zero impact on the quality of the services for me.

There are many many more professional alternatives online than MXRoute, maybe is because they are abused constantly that they enforce some non-logical rules and immediate bans for absolute no reason.
So if you don't wanna wake up in the morning with a suspended account for no reason, avoid MXRoute.
I notice you have said it many times but yet have never provided a list of those 'alternatives'. Wanna do it here?
No there is not for given price. The crane is unreliable and the rest is way more expensive than route.
