leaseweb.com does not accept customers from Ukraine

  • Don't worry—they will refund your payment. It just takes a while—usually about seven days! They only accept business users; they do not accept individual users!

My company (well, the 17.5% i had of it) sold property stolen from Ukrainians that fled to Russians, primarily cars and business equipment as the gov stole all the real estate to sell themselves. This is not a war crime or similar per se but its still very much frowned upon and gets you sanctioned by the US. It is also plain and simple grand theft.

I don't get it. Isn't Ukraine == good? Over-invoicing is so common in Ukraine so I guess many entities dealing with their mil/gov should be sanctioned too by that logic.

Post-Soviet style corruption isn't really anyone's problem outside of the country itself. Sanctions I think are more focused on trying to reduce the Russian war effort. I guess stealing properties to give to Russian people is frown upon as well.

I am neutral in this, i never supported either side much - i am a ruthless capitalist.
Neither UA not RU ever treated my people with respect and rights, banishing us to the middle of nowhere, so why should i now feel bad for taking their cash that can now not be used in war and the Ukrainians all got made whole by their insurances anyway. Its not a victimless crime but absolutely to be expected if your plan is to long term annex something.

But yes, stealing property to sell it to the invader is a bunch of crimes JUST below a war crime (like blowing up houses just to prevent return is iirc a war crime).

I am also only an extremely small fish in this, at best we exported like 60 contaiers of mostly older cars total while others dismantled whole factories.

Btw, they seem to clearly state that (a) it's not their decision but legal requirements, and (b) that you, it seems, have not, but can pass those requirements.
    So, where is the discrimination?

Btw 2, being - or feeling - special goes both ways, but of course most who do only recognize one direction.

But you're not much of a netcup fan right?

That sounds like the gov/mil UA (or your contact) doesn't have the legal order to mop up those civilian assets or even illegal act (because corruption).
60*40'. 2 cars per 40'. At $2k per car. you got sanctioned because of $120k worth of sales? Even with 10% net profit that's only $12k. Wtf. That's understandable the treatment if it was $120K worth of centrifugal, accelerometer for U .

Wait, since when does this shady dude represent "Ukraine"? :)

No idea who this guy really is, but if he's out here confessing crimes on a public forum completely unprompted, he's not exactly playing 5D chess.

Honestly feels like he's living in some fantasy world where he's best friend with Napoleon and Stalin. But to your point, yeah, sounds like he's flipping property from Ukrainians who fled russian occupied areas. Definitely not the same as legitimate business.
Either way I call BS on all his post.

Well, from what he wrote it's past the statues of limitation, so sense or nonsense of discussing it in public aside nothing will come from it and he was asked "how to join the club". I'd just take it for what it is and leave it that.

I got a VPS from leaseweb recently the latency on the nvme was a hitting 8 seconds (not ms) at times and regularly around 1.8ms, opened a ticket they suggested that's expected, I pushed back they migrated me to another node and it got worse.

Leaseweb are not who they used to be.

That took around 3 days, I just cancelled and moved on.

I am 100% sure this was an illegal operation even under Russian law but the higher ranked you are the less laws matter.

We did not have to pay any shipping to Russia and stole the containers from the port; most of this cars got 5-15k profit with some exceptions reaching 100k+.
If you median it and add some outliers 60 containers where valued at around 550k EUR.

We got paid 75000EUR in cash and another 10000EUR in (worthless) Russian roubles.
This was split between 4 people while i took 50% and the other 3 shared the other 50%.

The cars were already sold so we only handled "stealing" and transport.

I do not feel bad for this, i know for fact every single Ukrainian got their shit repaid by insurance and likely even lied to get more. I removed money from the Russian war machine which is a net positive. I also need to make money.

Many cars had their keys in the ignition, the Ukrainians knew exactly what will happen.

not asking for any details but i wonder if this is location related, like lesser hardware in some places etc? i've got a (hostdzire) leasweb box in dc and it's pretty stunning.

i'm actually lowkey having some fits because i'm not sure what's going to happen come renewal time with hostdzire dropping paypal (and i only deal with lowend miscreants via paypal~).

Kinda clever of them actually. If they outright only gave the business option they'd probably get way more people trying to bullshit them instead of basically disqualifying themself.

Idk, about other locations, honestly one of the worst VPS I have used in a long time.

@labas said: 5 days end. Today 6 days and so they no aswer any emails.

5 working days. Outside of Israel banks do not work Sundays. If they reply you on Saturday the clock only starts Monday also.

Also yes this is discrimination but as Ukraine is not EU you have absolutely no legal recourse. Only discrimination inside EU is a crime (i won that case against a huge French provider).

Leaseweb is NOT a purely Dutch company, the US sub owns a substantial part of the EU business and vice versa, so they have to follow US export laws which do NOT ust innclude Crimea and so on but VAST parts of the Ukraine.
    Easier to just ban entirely.

They also in line with sanctions do not accept North Korean, Sudanese, Russian and Belorussian customers. Iran is not sanctioned in EU but LW also does not accept signups from there anymore, however much more likely diue to complex payment.

Israel has the only banks in the world that work on Sunday, are you a joke? majority of the world has fully functional banks * operations 7 days a week, refunds of this nature are purposely delayed for a variety of internal reasons and are set to release on timers.

That is also completely false for the definition of discrimination, EU law makes no distinction these actions only apply to there own citizens, please reference this and I will show you how incorrect it is with valid cases.

They are certainly not in-line with sanctions, nothing stops accepting UA customers, intact the entire of EU is very fond of UA and a large portion of there fleeing population has been accepted with open arms by countless neighbouring countries. (Including the Netherlands)

Finally I believe you are totally right they have just banned UA, to make it more simply but I don’t think this disregards OP’s point. Leaseweb is in the position to do direct contracts under there NL Company entity (And have done before) and provide EU based services without following any US law regardless. But it seems they simply don’t want to, I love leaseweb but seeing them deny services, not even trying to find a solution is pretty devastating for a fellow EU brother.

Agree with UA, Russia, US whatever, it’s pretty shocking when you can’t buy services from especially when the export law lease web refer to is regarding the deployment, or maintenance of hardware / infrastructure in occupied territories. There are nothing stopping them providing service. A perfect example here is a US company NameCheap who has no issue accepting UA customers.

@Levi said: Did you took some of those drugs?

Brother of course i did, from methadone over K2/spice to cocaine, everything available aside alcohol. And all the pill trade. So much fun.

@DataRecovery said: Wow, so we actually have a sivirely sanctioned low-ender on the forum?!

No, im not "sanctioned" per se like an Iranian general, i am just listed as person of interest with criminal ties especially to Serbia and because of the reason most banks and such refuse to deal with me. It is in my Europol entry so most police worldwide can see this.
I think the list is semi-public, you just have to give the DoD i think an ID and a valid reason (FOIA should not count as this is not affecting an American).
I try to get a copy of my Europol and Interpol records since years now, they argue they are not really "agencies of a country" so they have no headquarter and cannot obey laws... yea... i love if i could use that logic in business.

@DataRecovery said: If there's no investigatory privilege or smth like that, what an average Joe has to do to join that private club?

I had some idea whats going on but mostly just handled monetary transactions (aka laudry) and communication.

Statute of limitations expired so i dont need to worry anymore criminally but the US will keep their shit for some years more.

Anyway enough OT for here i guess, there is other threads for that

Pure lie, i’ve dealt with Interpol on countless occasions not how they operate, not how they distribute data, and not how they withheld it either, I assure you if you had a worthy enough file to be sent across nations you would never have left the EU.

They rely heavily on the NCB for data transfer, which has an explicit list of information which can be transferred (This does not include the collective ability to debank you, as a collective multi-country effort to do this to a single individual would be significant crime for them to commit seeing this is explicitly written in EU law cannot be done.

Uhm, I love my Leaseweb VPSs (purchased via @HostDzire). In fact one of the most pleasant discoveries I made on LET.

    Same as Hetzner.

    Makes no sense.

They will ban a multi-year business account for a single DMCA.

Let constantly let re-sellers provide 100’s of services to none-verified customers as a third person proxy, get 10x the abuse / dcma and never have issue, mind baffles.
