leaseweb.com does not accept customers from Ukraine
Hello, i live in Ukraine and the company leaseweb does not accept customers from Ukraine. I think this is discrimination. They also did not refund my money.
Dear Sir/Madam,
We regret to inform you that we are unable to proceed with your order/account in line with Leaseweb's KYC procedures due to US export control regulations.
As per our policy, a full refund (if applicable) will be issued within 5 business days back to the payment method that was used to place your order. Should you have any inquiries about your refund, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].
We hope to have informed you sufficiently and appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Kind regards,
Leaseweb Netherlands B.V.

Are you sure it's Ukraine and not fact that you are not company ? Do you know LW only works with businesses and not private persons ?
Order process allowed to choose private or business.
Discrimination because they don't accept customers from abroad? What are you, the Ukrainian MJJ?
Have you tried ... 2342352 other providers?
Yes with other providers i am never have any problems.
[First Time? meme here]
It depends on which region you are from. A lot of companies ban frontline regions of Ukraine simply for the reason of "we don't know if this is russian-controlled territory or not". After all, some regions are in the sanction list for a long time, for this reason.
And some other companies simply ban the whole country for the same reason, as they don't want to spend time trying to figure it out, or believe that risk of a mistake will be too expensive and not worth it.
Sad but true.
Yeah, I was recently was shocked that incognet does same
Great!
Have you waited the 5 days for the refund or come running straight here to post about it.
I'm a big fan of Leaseweb.
Btw, they seem to clearly state that (a) it's not their decision but legal requirements, and (b) that you, it seems, have not, but can pass those requirements.
So, where is the discrimination?
Btw 2, being - or feeling - special goes both ways, but of course most who do only recognize one direction.
5 days end. Today 6 days and so they no aswer any emails.
Why other big companies accept customers from Ukraine without any problems?
That is not related to leaseweb personally. Contact their legal department. Leaseweb should also not accept ru business and personal accounts.
Working days? Excluding the weekend?
5 working days. Outside of Israel banks do not work Sundays. If they reply you on Saturday the clock only starts Monday also.
Also yes this is discrimination but as Ukraine is not EU you have absolutely no legal recourse. Only discrimination inside EU is a crime (i won that case against a huge French provider).
Leaseweb is NOT a purely Dutch company, the US sub owns a substantial part of the EU business and vice versa, so they have to follow US export laws which do NOT ust innclude Crimea and so on but VAST parts of the Ukraine.
Easier to just ban entirely.
They also in line with sanctions do not accept North Korean, Sudanese, Russian and Belorussian customers. Iran is not sanctioned in EU but LW also does not accept signups from there anymore, however much more likely diue to complex payment.
It's their decision and thinking. What can you do about it?
@OP you are likely wasting your time anyways. Being able to select private during ordering or not probably doesn't affect the part where Leaseweb simply doesn't do business with private individuals, so even if you'd manage to pass their geographic restrictions they'd just reject you on those grounds (unless you happen run a company of course).
What you look for is "secondary sanctions" - Basically the US will punish foreign companies with zero US connection for dealing with especially Iran and North Korea (but also applies to occupied Ukraine).
This means one absolutely legal EU sale can cut you off from any payment processing (aside UnionPay all Creditcard companies are US based), prevent you from buying hardware (as your company will be on the entity list) and so on and on. Even EU banks pull in their tail and will cancel you.
Absolutely not worth the risk unless you solely deal in crypto and are anonymous enough so the US will not be able to sanction you.
(Yes, i am also on said entity list until 2028 but for a much older sanctions violation in Crimea - no US bank (incl Paypal, Stripe...) deals with me and they even reject wires from my accounts in Europe. I assume if i enter the US i get arrested.)
@William how was jail ? Did it educate you or are you still same (stupid) person ?
it was awesome, as white foreigner from western EU that speaks like 5 languages i had privileges others dont, and as suspected terrorist the respect deserved (everyone in jail saw me on the news) - i learned a lot of crime for future use, drugs were abundant and cheap, really only the no hot water in cells and the overcrowding sucked.
This was not my first time in jail, i was already one country further in for similar time (the one aligned with Hungary) due to a vehicular manslaughter investigation. Charges dropped.
Did you took some of those drugs?
Your personal page on myrotvorets™ will be right next to Orban's.
Wow, so we actually have a sivirely sanctioned low-ender on the forum?!
If this isn't an investigatory privilege or smth like that, what an average Joe has to do to join that private club?
Well, companies are free to decide for themselves (modulo laws).
