And to make matters even worse, I didn't buy it on LET and wasn't even a member here at the time, so if it gets terminated as part of the LET purge, it will feel particularly unfair.
That sentiment kind of supports his argument that the users here deserved to have their services terminated, doesn't it?

My VPS is 5 cores, 2G Mem, small disk. He wants me to pay $8/month for it, while it was just over $15/year. Yes, the number of cores is a bit on the high side for that $15/year, but the rest is just what I'd at least expect for a LET host. I have dozens of VPSes and most of them are around that price range with at least 3 cores, at least 2G RAM and bigger disks.
Connectivity on my VPS is descent, but that's where I select providers on; if it isn't, they're out. So basically what I'm saying: I have dozens of other providers that do a similar job there.
Where it differs: VeloxMedia is a scam. Money is gone, service will be terminated way before the end of contract period. Am I gonna pay for this service: no way.
There is no thing as a LET purge. There is a kind of priority set that took out offers with LET in it's name first. And ironically those ones may seem to have gotten "the better deals" (cough) with $4/month - for the current extortion run it's already $8. We're only just over one month in and I don't believe he'll stop purging here - so I think even the "1 year offers" will end up to be terminated before that period is over.
None of the services deserved to be terminated and that's not what I meant, but I can see how it read that way.
Some examples I have from other providers with high cores:
Silvercreek 6/6/66 - 6C6G + 66GB disk, 6TB traffic = $12/y
GreenCloud 5555 - 5C5G + 55GB disk, 5TB traffic = $55/2y (quite an old deal now)
GreenCloud 9999 - 9C9G + 99GB disk, 9TB traffic = $99/3y (in 3 locations)
RareCloud JP - 4C8G + 100GB disk, 7TB traffic = $30/y (expensive location normally)
Yes, $15 is cheap, but not unrealistic even for high cores. And I have a load of smaller VPS under $8/y, all with IPv4.

Exactly my point; the 2G and small harddisk make it even more plausible that the offer wasn't that "unsustainable". Maybe if you have to take into account all the legal costs...
Then you can basically call any offer unsustainable. As stated, there are more hosters that have matched the offer, so it's not an "all signs red" one. But if you come from another world, e.g. the B2B one, prices for these kind of VPSes easily go $15+/month. If that's your perception everything on LET can be called "unsustainable".
Yeah, it depends on the cost structure. LET hosts doesn't need pay their execs 7 digits annual salary. Even contabo are proud of their CEO having 2 roommates. Since Eric are proud of 6 7 digits annual salary, of course they need to charge $8/m.
