Is there a particular reason the official email to all customers hasn't been sent yet? It's been about two weeks since you took control of VeloxMedia.
Honestly, I can't really believe this is true because you could have just installed solus (or even using QEMU directly) on all the excess hardware you keep telling us you have.
I still don't see how this acquisition helps you in any way. I get moving off vmware, but the reasoning for buying Veloxmedia just makes no sense. You had an EOY deadline to worry about, but instead of just doing the relatively simple work of figuring out how to use QEMU you decide to waste time buying a company and arguing with people here and on discord instead. It doesn't add up.
But if you promise that no existing customers will get terminated because the deal they got from Lewis was "too cheap", then I guess that's dealt with the other main sticking point, and all the reassurance any of us wanted. Great that you got the GDPR stuff sorted quickly as well.
Just a final thought, it seems like the "current Eric" is a very different person to the one who was here on Christmas Eve. The casual threats to drop people at a whim and refunds weren't your problem, the people who got cancelled for asking questions and the boasting that you don't need to care about GDPR because it doesn't apply to you, &c. I'm glad that you've seemingly changed your tune, but it's a shame that all of this drama could have been so simply avoided in the first place.
Glad to see you finally post here, Eric, the conspiracy theories were getting so wild that people were actually accusing me of being your alt account just because I said my servers were working fine.
It’s good to get an actual look at what’s happening behind the scenes. Hearing that you’re replacing failed drives and have a 24/7 team monitoring the wallboards is a huge relief; that’s the kind of actual management we were missing before.
As for the 'roll call': My service has been 100% rock solid since the management migration. No downtime, no issues. It’s pretty telling that after 60 pages of back-and-forth, there are almost zero actual reports of servers being down. I’m definitely staying on board for the upgrades you’re planning.
Check dm as well.
Customers need to know who is safeguarding their data. The 'enterprise bussiness' encompasses many meanings, it's not Palantir right?
stop sucking up behind an alt account
The 'alt account' theory is getting exhausting. If I were actually Eric’s alt, why would I be in his DMs right now negotiating my own contract and sending over my invoices? DMing yourself to 'fake' a customer relationship would be some next-level tinfoil hat stuff.
The reality is much simpler: I’m a customer who has skin in the game. My servers are running perfectly, and I want them to stay that way. It’s funny that anyone who isn't screaming 'scam' is immediately labeled a shill. I’m looking out for my own uptime; if you want to spend your time on conspiracies instead of actually using your service, that’s on you.
not saying you are eric's alt account... but someone else here
I am pretty happy with my service so far, my only concern is that the server gets deleted/canceled prematurely or for some made up reason.

(inb4 my server gets deleted for being an "unsustainable deal")
We have plenty of time to send this and are taking this time to get our house in order and get everything setup so we're ready. There's no reason to rush and tell everyone when our site isn't even fully done.
Just look what happened here, everyone caused a panic over nothing and its just a small subset of our client base that found out. I'd rather have all the answers and have a plan in place for any transition. Let them know and hold their hand through the process.
But why go through all the trouble of configuring an entire ecosystem when I found someone willing to hand his all over along with a client base all for a small loss that could easily be turned around?
Also its much easier to migrate everything over to a perfectly running system than it is than setting up one from scratch without time to test. Plus I was able to easily add a server to the existing solus system, migrate the VMs then convert the old esxi server to solus and migrate the next one, go down the rack until all converted.
Again this wasn't millions of dollars here and it was supposed to be much less time consuming to just move it over and leave all the veloxmedia customers as is, but all the drama and issues and the attack caused more problems.
Quick question regarding the network—are UDP ports currently being throttled or blocked? I can't get WireGuard to connect at all. I know you've been dealing with some attacks lately, so I'm just wondering if this is a temporary security measure and when it might be lifted. Thanks!
just lol.
I see coinmunch has upgraded his profile pic
@VeloxMedia , for clarity, can you explain who is @coinmunch? My intuition tells me it's not just your (ordinary) customer. Before 19.30 UTC it got barred.
Edit:
PS: the insults is really weak 😅.
Whichever mod/admin dealt with @coinmunch , thank you for your service.
Wow, that language is pretty different...
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?
@itsTomHarper
Haha I wish. Still trying to figure out who that dude is and what he did.
and no clue who @coinmunch is
Maybe, but it could be Lewis too LOL
That's where my money is
This sentence says otherwise
You see, sending dms to self is a new feature of Vanilla
Done this before, it was hot
--> This statement has been made multiple times about special deals and a need to review it is in order.
and Regardless, will these special deals be honored till the end of the agreement/ billing cycle?
Above question is binary. It doesn't open up for any gray area like it depends.... a simple yes/ no response will calm the majority of community.
If not honored, it contradicts with your initial intention statement...
@VeloxMedia
Other questions:
This isn't that complicated. Yes they're working on it.
But the reality is unless you're doing something that is in violation of our terms and conditions or obviously wrong. Or have some crazy insane deal like a dedicated server for 20+ years then you have nothing to worry about.
There are some people who got crazy 3 year deals which is being reviewed but its not really an issue. Likely worst case is as long as they're not abusing the resources we'll leave it as is and if they are we'll throttle or move to older hardware.
Yes. I'm not sure if they're allowed or not or what. We can just leave them as is as long as its allowed but if Lewis just approved everything because he saw $$$ and its illegal we can't continue to host the services. Also there's the issue of trying to justify spending tons on legal fees reviewing these agreements that are a few bucks.
These are all one offs but I don't want to say everyone is getting service and everything the same then kick a couple people off because for some reason Lewis said they were allowed to do illegal stuff. Its why we specifically stated everything prior to us was on Lewis because we can't be liable for his actions and what he agreed to. Our new agreements will follow all our TOC and no exceptions otherwise it opens us up to liability.
@VeloxMedia thanks that our services online. Mine was offline only at first day and then was always online and i posted about that here
Will we have time to update DNS or how ip will be changed?
