Hold the fuck on. They asked users to not change passwords? I always recommend changing default passwords even if its a random password to another random password. 0 trust. Keep who knows the password and how it's found to the minimum. If they said don't change the password I would ask for a refund and run.
they didnt ask anyone to not change the password. they just said users that change them "start to border on the untrusted side"
Was the bucket public, and was the porn available through it?
and if it was public why didnt you send me the link so I can inspect it personally
Wadhah the wanking inspector 😁
That's a new way to test hosters
Yes. LGBT is restricted as an "unwanted organization" and anyone who supports this "organization" in any form runs the risk of being targeted. For example, if you run a personal blog about your gay life, you might be at risk.
Local law is strict in suppressing globalist propaganda about LGBTQ+ and non-existent genders. That's why many movies produced in Western countries and shown in Russia are modified due to censorship.
Ramadan is over brotha, so now business as usual for @wadhah
This needs full context
if the files are in public_html, does it actually resolve to anything to be publicly viewed.
I have had storage from providers in the past it has had things like dummydomain67876587.com which unless you buy that and direct it who is going to know that exists on that server even if it is in a public_html folder does not mean the public can see it.
The fact the provider has been warned for months about snooping and possibly because this involved porn the customer would pay up, say nothing out of possible embarrassment is something I would question too
What were the file names you put there?
I think someone in this thread said that public_html is the only folder that you can actually upload your files to, so you might be forced to upload it under that folder. But @bdspice needs to confirm officially
Afaik op said content was not public hosted and hoster logged into user account.
I hope they can firm it one way or the other.
If the sole purpose of their server is backup storage, why have they not just firewalled web ports to block all traffic while still allowing control panel ports to allow access to file manger that maybe built in. That would stop anything like this being "public" in the first place.
OP states it is not public and CH states it was in public_html, someone needs to be clear does anything resolve to the listening name or are dummy records being used when DNS is created.
We could create a porn NGO so we can host our content with a 75% discount at charityporn
See that's the thing you have "heard" 😉, you know from where
... and we should keep copies so that if he lies, then we can show the evidence!
It's funny that those who have fallen for propaganda the most always start off by screaming wolf propaganda.
What is happening in Russia is not comparable to the rest of the Western world (including the UK - https://pa.media/blogs/fact-check/russia-has-far-more-restrictions-on-social-media-use-than-the-uk/).
Your other comments relating to LGBT, etc. restrictions only further confirm this. Wherever you stand on this or any other similar matter, discussing or talking about these things online is not censored or restricted throughout the EU, UK, US/Canada, or indeed many other democratic nations.
oh. have you been threatened? you sound so submissive.
again: what have you won? 500GB ftp storage or something hosting-like with public_html?
correct question and still now answer (i am on page 20 right now).
don't bore us with your rules in your country. this is about something else.
Someone said the panel used is CyberPanel, in which case (unless it has been changed), the FTP root path for the domain is the
public_htmlfolder.The CharityHost website also states for the FTP service:
Granted, it remains to be seen whether a resolvable domain was linked to the service. However, it is also reasonable that the user could have assumed the files were private by default, as one might expect of ‘FTP Backup Storage’.
mentally strong and normally developed people understand 500GB ftp storage to mean exactly that and not some strange public_html hosting crap.
Providers too stingy to buy more licenses.
I don't care about the lives of Westerners. What happens in the West isn't very interesting to me, but since we still use the same internet and the same planet, I have to explain the differences between our rules and your rules.
Since its ftp server, so it shouldn’t be accessible from web. Even provider domain is invalid (ftp.myfullname.com). So i never Though of that it can be accessible before storing data. Now i find that it cant use ssh also, because it is ftp server
500GB FTP storage account.
Not at all.
Just for clarity's sake, @bdspice has answered all these questions before but since this is a 21 page thread they were probably missed/buried
you don't have to explain anything here, because this thread is not about west versus east. you should understand that even if you despise the west, because it has something to do with at least normal intelligence.
