    Should I make my own LowEndCDN and sell it here?

    Hahahahaha yes!

    Time to start bunny.net alternative with a free plan :lol:

    Ayeeee!!! Good luck, friend! I trust in you!

    I do need a lot of locations with a lot of bandwidth tho.

  • Dedicated 1gbit will probably cost around €65-70 or something. Idk exactly.

    Btw guys, how to setup a free VPN on my VPS? Pls, help me, I'm too dumb to do that 😭

    I dont use a vpn, So i can't really help. There are scripts tho which make it very easy
    https://github.com/hwdsl2/wireguard-install

    I'd recommend against just downloading random scripts and running them. Especially when they need root to run.

    Wireguard isn't very complicated. Read a tutorial, and try to understand every line of what it's doing.

    Essentially, you're installing one package (wireguard), creating one configuration file and enabling the service on each machine. You don't need some random Chinese script to do that.

    Me as well. Been saving money for an SSD for my PC/Media server.

    Mine is an Android box :lol:
    Tried using 2.5 inch 5400rpm drives for storage but the box can thandle it I guess.

    Ah, mines just an old linux desktop with a bunch of random HDDs in it and a very messy docker setup.

    I might have to move to something like that very soon. The Android box isnt exactly cutting it. But that's all I have for now.

    I really don't understand most people in developed countries who just dispose off their electronics for trivial issues.

    I blame Microsoft and Apple for that - people always be needed the latest hardware to run those crappy OSes meanwhile Linux works well on hardware from decades ago.

    Yah, moreover its their stance against right to repair. At some point, Ig people have just become habituated to throwing out slightly blocked hardware cause they think it's unrepairabek

    Yes, I wish I could find parts to repair certain products (not just computers), but that is difficult today

    Designed that way. Recently, I saw a YouTuber trying to build an iPhone using parts from China with the vheapest budget. He isn;t the first to do it, but, these videos do tell you how much they actually cost.

    They're cheap to make and then Apple slaps a massive expensive price on them all while also profitting off of their user's data... it's lame

    True that.. Windows just needs to get more optimized. Follow the way of alpine linux

    Windows will never be optimized without all that telemetry and surveillance baked in. There's even tools to extract all that surveillance from the OS, like in this Wired article https://www.wired.com/story/total-recall-windows-recall-ai/

    Tiny11 and Tiny10 any good when it comes to discarding these telemetry services?

    best method against telemetry and spying is to not use Windows or Mac on a computer

    Having said that, to get on brand IIRC watching about 3 years ago Dustin himself had a video on youtube about using a script to do it. You could watch that anyway, even if you choose to do it yourself.

    Actually, I might as well give you everything you will need to show you how short it is. You should still read a guide though so you understand how this works.

    BTW to get you started, do this to create the keys and keep a copy:

    ralf@y:~/qqqq$ wg genkey | tee 1.prv | wg pubkey >1.pub
    ralf@y:~/qqqq$ wg genkey | tee 2.prv | wg pubkey >2.pub
    ralf@y:~/qqqq$ wg genpsk >share
    Warning: writing to world accessible file.
    Consider setting the umask to 077 and trying again.
    ralf@y:~/qqqq$ grep . *
    1.prv:oOaJnaJy5ZJ19HbRwW+eD3j+fzpA9ACElksXxsGzUWY=
    1.pub:2SXKX8/t+fskJBxIlyAvaGfDdFBOE6y7US1tc6jyi2w=
    2.prv:SKhVQCewteh+qal8tCCIv7pXrvT0/VRxtSouwTP+FUQ=
    2.pub:VCxWFZ7qmrLFple1zUKJ/DGkTog+a8MreJ+30S2tSzA=
    share:pKsNHe2oDjDEeEiJu334/3fPWlAM+gKsa/sat4V0ChQ=

    On server 1, you want /etc/wireguard/wg0.conf to have this:

    [Interface]
    Address = 192.168.8.1
    PrivateKey = <1.prv>
    ListenPort = 51820

    # server 2
    [Peer]
    PublicKey = <2.pub>
    AllowedIPs = 192.168.9.2
    PersistentKeepalive = 60
    Endpoint = <2.ip>:51820
    PresharedKey = <share>

    and on server 2:

    [Interface]
    Address = 192.168.8.2
    PrivateKey = <2.prv>
    ListenPort = 51820

    # server 2
    [Peer]
    PublicKey = <1.pub>
    AllowedIPs = 192.168.9.1
    PersistentKeepalive = 60
    Endpoint = <1.ip>:51820
    PresharedKey = <share>

    And this on both to start it up:

    root@x# systemctl enable [email protected]
    Created symlink /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/[email protected] → /lib/systemd/system/[email protected].
    root@x# systemctl daemon-reload
    root@x# systemctl start wg-quick@wg0

    You should see how the files for 1 and 2 mirror each other. If you want more in your network, you can do the same to create 3.pub and 3.prv, and make a different shared secrets for 1&3 and 2&3 to share (if you want). You can duplicate the [Peer] block for as many peers you want on each host.

    Doubt it'll happen. It wouldn't mind winning some credit to try RN though. I utilize a lot of small boxes (need hardly any resource ) for my needs. Their smallest promo isn't bad but I can get cheaper elsewhere so not enough incentive to try.

    I would love to get my hands on a fairly affordable IE server.

    i see! i need small boxes rn just to seed torrents tbh

    Guess they're a fine seedbox. They small ones I mostly use for cdn/DNS/vpn.

    True. Problem with "real" seedboxes are their prices -- they are SO expensive compared to VPS, man! My enzonix VPS (which is powerful!) is literally cheaper YEARLY than some monthly basic seedboxes

    I use OVH Dedis for that. $10/m ain't bad.

    But anyways, the saying "We want Alpine Linux on RackNerd" is kind of incorrect, because you can already have it :) The correct one would be "We want Alpine Linux on RackNerd UI" or something like that :)

    I might have to move to something like that very soon. The Android box isnt exactly cutting it. But that's all I have for now.

    I found a pc in a dumpster that is actually my server. People left personal info on it too but i wiped it all first because ethics

    Repair just usually means swapping on some easy components in most cases. A dead fan, a dead ram stick, a failing harddrive. Most people just dont know how to do that

    Yup, the fact that Apple would just have you buy their newer version rather than just swap the RAM sticks out makes people think that hardware today is just that fragiel

    the iPeople are a special breed of stupid consumer - the expensive kind

    Ig, someone gave them a fittig tag - Sheeple.

    true that! Thats what i see when i see those phones and ear phones

    yes, the iDumbs

    @chitree Does Alpine full installation come with OpenRC or similar service manager?

    it comes with OpenRC installed & doas instead of sudo

    I always just install sudo 😅

    I really like doas as the config is simpler

    I'd recommend against just downloading random scripts and running them. Especially when they need root to run.

    Wireguard isn't very complicated. Read a tutorial, and try to understand every line of what it's doing.

    Essentially, you're installing one package (wireguard), creating one configuration file and enabling the service on each machine. You don't need some random Chinese script to do that.

    Having said that, to get on brand IIRC watching about 3 years ago Dustin himself had a video on youtube about using a script to do it. You could watch that anyway, even if you choose to do it yourself.

    Ohh, really? Will see. Thanks!
    I tried NordVPN (I have an account on it) but it literally messed up my VPS...

    Only 3 pages for 800! Let's go everyone!

    We want Alpine Linux on RackNerd!

    I don't remember, but can't you install from custom ISO on RN?

    You can but not from the interface, you have to contact support. They're super fast about getting it done, but I generally just install something manually using rescue mode or a script.

    But anyways, the saying "We want Alpine Linux on RackNerd" is kind of incorrect, because you can already have it :) The correct one would be "We want Alpine Linux on RackNerd UI" or something like that :)

    WE WANT ALPINE LINUX AS A SUPPORTED OS IN THE RACKNERD IMAGE SELECTION UI

    Por Favor 🙏

    Are u Mexican?

    It's Spanish, so could be from many different countries other than Mexico

    True, but Jose it's a pretty Mexican name honestly 🤔

  • And por favor is Spanish and Portuguese as well
