Don't worry my online.net server can speedtest to FreeSAS it's own company and get 50-70ms
Can always do some more download tests cough benchmy.net cough
You know what's faster than light... A wormhole.
I see no flaws with this theory
can you ping speedtest.sea01.softlayer.com and tell us resolved ip
i think that they are using redirect to closest geo located node of their network
Like I said - around 150ms :P
Here you go:
time=155 ms
that is server 4031
<server url="http://speedtest.sea01.softlayer.com/speedtest/speedtest/upload.php" lat="47.6097" lon="-122.3331" name="Seattle, WA" country="United States" cc="US" sponsor="SoftLayer Technologies, Inc." id="4031" host="speedtest.sea01.softlayer.com:8080"/>their php backend redirects you to colosest geolocated ip
there is no wormhole
Its either looking up a local node, or someone is tweaking the traffic flow.
Sure.... For now atleast..
If you ping from your home computer to your VPS, it will be 130-200ms. Certain ISPs it will be more.
But 51ms to Atlanta is about right given your ISP. I am getting from Westin to Atlanta 40-43ms which is about right.
Back to the original point though - that server should without any question respond more fluidly than your server in Germany. If for no other reason you are stripping 100ms+ off the transit time.

I think something is wrong with speedtest script or their Seattle servers? Because I get faster-than-light speed testing from France, Italy, UK, and Netherlands.
Tested all server 1423, 1074, 4217, and 2965, similar output.

2 reasons.. 1. Geo Location 2. Worm Hole
Obviously #2
It doesn't really matter because I have taken Seattle as one point and Frankfurt as another and said the pipe runs directly between them in the distance calculation. Its still going to be less than all the snaking and regenning; never mind routing/switching and other processes.
@Dalcomp who are you testing against? Is it consistently one operator?
Why not retry using the good old http download on the same path. It may not be overly scientific but it will be more indicative
As I said, something must be wrong with speedtest script. I tested 4 Seattle servers on their server list, all showing similar output as above. But normal ping test shows 140-200ms.
IP swap to geolocated on ping in php 100%
Mainly the fiber optic amplifiers add a lot of latency, because their processors are from as fast (bus speed, not frequency) as light. Fiber optics run for like max 50km before they need to be amplified.
Regarding the worm hole: it's called a hole and not a tunnel for a reason...
It is an unkown "hole" that probably shoots stuff through space and time faster than we (and computers, telescopes etc) can see, it's most likely not some magic tunnel into "another dimension"
Warp 10 fiber optics... no other explanation except php ping tune
I smell Alien talk !
Well not with that attitude
Here's a 100mb test from Dallas, TX. DC: Incero Speed: 100mbps Host: FlipHost URL: http://gifs.whattherage.com/100.out

Can I ask you guys one simple question - What is the final verdict on DelimiterVPS - is it a good deal or bad?
It really depends on what you need, if you need something small in the US and those speeds don't bother you. It's fine. If you need something else, you might want to look else where.
@darknessends Of course its a good deal
That VPS in Dallas has 100Mbps connection (or nearly 100Mbps) - even with a server with 10GE connection we can't get any more out of it.
So the Atom is definitely able to saturate the connection.
@skybucks100 just gave me access to his VPS:
wget -O /dev/null http://cachefly.cachefly.net/100mb.test

Correction, dedicated. Not VPS :P
Sorry brain is overtired
But here's my issue,
That's from a Softlayer Seattle 100mb file test.
You should use the final figure ie 3.39MB which is 27.12Mbps
Are you saying you want to move files between your home and this device or from another server.
Rather than benchmarking against Softlayer's - how can I put this politely - 'optimised' tester - why not stick a 100MB file on your server and test download/upload between your home and the server; then another server and your home for comparison.
From within the Westin building (Seattle) to that URL, I am not even getting 30Mbps and I am 4ms away from that IP.
What do you get from home when download the same URL from Softlayer?
Tried with their 500MB file:
wget -O /dev/null 'http://speedtest.sea01.softlayer.com/downloads/test500.zip'
