My server is available for transfer for anyone interested, see https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/191562/berohost-halloween-offer-8-epyc-cores-24-gb-of-ram-420-or-720-gb-of-nvme-storage/p1?new=1 for details.
What was the uptime during those months and how do you recommend them now? I ordered their Christmas offer and noticed difference in performance during the last few days and some downtime, I have some hobby projects I was thinking to migrate to them.
For non critical stuff it’s fine IMO.
Very impressed so far, thought I’d see a lot more cpu stealing going on but it’s pretty solid up to now
I'm pleasantly surprised as well regarding performance. Despite the generous FUP (50% continuous CPU usage) I didn't notice any severe drop in performance, much less than expected.
IMHO, as of now at least, this is a really great deal.
Haven't experienced any network outages and or downtimes, however only 20 VMs were affected in general apparently, so not too much to add to this.
Support is very good, much better than HH for instance, who offered similar deals this christmas.
All in all, I think many landed a superb deal (at least for idling /s)
Keep up the good work @berohost and hopefully we'll get some more tasty deals in the future as well!
Windows sucks.
Are you connected through a vpn?
Do not blame on windows.
What version of windows are you running?
Windows Server 2022 OS
normally blame user, as no issues with a couple of my servers from @berohost, highly recommended service!
9/10
Everyone looks satisfied. So a new berohost promotion is needed
not saying that Windows OS has no issues, but just blaming on OS without any proper root cause analysis will not help in fixing the issue.
No other outages so far? I am happy if @berohost does well here. I like the company and I will definitely use them again next time I need a virtual server.
100% uptime until now. Purchased 24 days ago.
It's not a huge period, but I'm very satisfied until now
I renewed for 1 year
Currently running 3 VMs with promox on it and it works just fine.
Hope it stays that way
The performance is good? What guest OS are you running?
Yes just perfect, but 2 are LXC containers (Debian 12 + ubuntu 22.04)
And 1 KVM - Windows server 2022 standard (desktop experience)
Can I dm you?
Of course you can.
I'm not sure I'll be around much longer, though.
But if not, I'll reply tomorrow
Have you got additional IP on the server to do the vm routing?
No, I didn't ask if it was possible to rent additional IP addresses.
Current setup -> NAT forwarding for IPv4 + IPv6 assignment
I tried it with proxmox and some other tools (virtualizor,...) to set up some vms but I'm too stupid/less experienced with Linux to get it running. I've ordered an IPv4 for my IPv6 only server so it should be possible to get additional ips.
how are you connecting with ssh or rdp? port forwarding or VPN?
I think they are just NATing the ports see this guide https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3538243#Comment_3538243
Port forwarding
IPv6 too as my ISP supports it
Or use ipv6 address and tailscale vpn to connect with a v4 ip address. That should work.
I might let go one of my 2 XMAS deal if anyone interested dm me
Same. Do you think it's safe? Or is VPN more secure
You mean to expose RDP ?
No it's not "safe" as we have to use user / password to authenticate
But if you have a tool similar to fail2ban to prevent brute force on windows, that's okay.
It's obviously better to expose the port locally and use VPN to authenticate.
Like always: Fewer exposed services means fewer risks.
