well @Advin servers are also affected at least in 1 location as i recall but they started shifting to owned hardware so lets see

We moved to DediPath recently with owned hardware :D

That being said, we've already gotten replacement servers with a different provider. We are migrating and should be done by tonight. Should be no downtime but issues may occur. All servers we had with DediPath are recently purchased, the card we used to purchase them insure them against theft for 90 days, might be able to claim insurance on it.

It's costly and time consuming to migrate, this couldn't have come at a worse time for our business. Oh well.

So other than Ernie who is awesome for even commenting, has dedipath said anything other than the email? They sound very cowardly.

Samantha responded to my email at 6am EST pretty darn quick to confirm the email in the OP was accurate. So I don't think they are hiding per say, more likely just looking for new jobs.

I agree to a point but the ownership should be taking a front line stance i guess.

What do i know though, i expect honesty in my business dealings but I guess thats why I dont have tons of investment capital to toss around.

  • I wonder what'll happen to the DediPath hardware. It sounds like the owner(s) fired everyone today and sent out the email. I expected them to give notice if (when) they were going to shutdown and have people there to at least help with the move out. Flexential won't do anything at the moment since DediPath customers aren't authorized contacts; they can't even generate a ticket in their system. Evocative is, surprisingly, trying to work with me on it - awaiting their internal escalation.
Did they really just say "go contact them and good luck"? No notice to the DCs to expect us?

My guess is most of the gear has all been on lease and going to be recovered by the leasing company.

A ray of pure optimism right there! I think it might go down in a few days at most.

If anybody needs VPS in LA, NY, SaltLake, Miami, Dallas, Portland (Coming Soon) you can try us, we are one of the providers who proactively migrated out of DP before this mess happened and it was not a small migration, we are talking about 9000+ VM ... so we are going to stay in business :)

Coupon code: 30OFF to get flat 30% OFF on all VPS Packages on 1 year billing cycle + double BW + Free 10G Port upgrade

More than likely the DediPath hardware is leased and will be arranged to be returned.

Flexential is a large enterprise data center and probably will not give anyone the time of day unless they are a direct customer.

This cant be true...we have more than 20 live servers with them and we cant take backup in just one day.

A mod on the other forum verified with Dedipath via PM that this is true afaik.

  • Its unlikely anyone will get access to their servers quickly. The DC have no way to know who hardware belongs to who and its all honest system at the end of the day. If your data is important I suggest backing and migrating and then working on the hardware access.

We have instant deployment if anyone needs to migrate data as fast as possible.

I agree with others. If you have colocation right away you should ensure you have all of your serial numbers in place. Use IPMItool if you have access still and get those details from your equipment if you do not already have a list of everything.

Most datacenters will not release your equipment without this so that they can prove it is yours. I would suggest starting this process asap to get your equipment removed.

https://purevoltage.com we will be happy to help with colocation in our New York location prices are a bit higher than their NJ location. However if you reach out to our sales team we will see how we can help you out. We also have some Dedicated deals we would be happy to help with as well.

If anyone needs help getting their equipment out of the data centers feel free to PM me and I'll be more than happy to write up more details to help. We've helped plenty of people over the years recover their equipment when this type of situation happens.

  • If they are actually insolvent, you need to immediately open chargebacks with credit card/paypal or you won't see your money back, and you need to haul your ass to the datacenter if you have equipment in there.

This is why it's best to colo with someone who gives you unescorted physical access to your rack. Then you usually have a few days before a liquidator is appointed and everything doesn't move for 2-3 years.

I think it's one of those subconscious things. I completely missed your post because, even though they're pinned up top for visibility, my brain didn't seem to even bother looking at those posts because the pinned posts never seem to change.

How many service providers used Dedipath as an upstream? I think I saw @HostMayo mention they had 20 something servers with them, and the notice didn't give enough time to backup and migrate.

    Who else?

Don't a lot of VPN companies use their network as well?

  • jonathanspwjonathanspw Member, Host Rep

Got tons of available hardware (dedi and VPS) at KnownHost. Reach out to me or [email protected] and we'll look into price matches on a case-by-case basis.

Just spoke to a rep at Evocative. Surprisingly helpful and willing to set us up directly as a client with them. Looks like pivoting our colo equipment that way currently might be easier than actually removing it from the facility currently.

I believe a decent number of people used them or their servers.
Biggest issue will be tomorrow when things actually go offline if that is when it will happen. The lack of notice is 100% unacceptable for any provider.

Disappointing to see Dedipath go down, especially this way.

Wishing good luck to all the impacted customers and employees of Dedipath. If you are a colocation customer act quickly, record serial numbers and contact the facility operator.

We will be removing the banners and mentions of DediPath on LEB/LET in the appropriate areas ASAP. Unfortunate to be losing an advertiser but we will survive, of course.
