I've sent you a message via the following ways:

    • PM on LowEndTalk

I am sure hoping you'll consider making an appearance on LowEndTalk to talk directly to your customers. VirMach has made enormous sums over the years from the LowEndTalk community and so it feels only fair and reasonable that you would communicate directly to them here at LowEndTalk.

I think you may find that if you are around and available you'll be more or less welcomed by an audience happy to know their provider is sensitive to their concerns.

The worst thing that can happen is to ghost a huge group of your customers. Please don't do that.

Just an FYI to the customers of VirMach -- no response received from @VirMach.

  • I feel they have problems from 2020, when they handle my case in very unprofessional way. From that point, I don't trust them with anything important, but still keep some servers with them. Luckily, after seeing this thread pop out very frequently, I moved all services with them just 2 days when all the unmanaged dedicated server shutdown without any prior notice.

The way they treat their loyal customers like this is not from a nice person.

Yeah my two VPS are working fine. One of the VPS is hosting WooCommerce website and it is online for the past 46 days. No issues ever since it was upgraded to Ryzen.

13 out of 14 of my VPS with them are up (and they've been up), one node seems to be having issue - keeps going offline.

I don't feel gosted. You should also try sending him a PM on LowEndSpirit, it could help.

  • So unfortunate. After being offline for about a month, then back online for a few weeks, then offline for a month (only to have my ticket closed), I am back online with a bad disk and a server that is not accessible from the outside world. I know I got one of those dirt cheap black friday deals so I should not expect much, but boy what a disgrace.

I had a dedicated server that was shut down since Aug. 3rd and its almost 7 weeks now still have not received replacement. My service was paid through Dec. 10th.

  • Copy-pasting post from OGF, you guys probably want that update here too :)

    @VirMach said:
IPv4 Changes - about half the existing Ryzen customers will be affected. We're sending out emails or tickets today, so you'll (1) know if your service is affected and (2) will have our best guess for what your next IPv4 will be and a general timeline.

It'll be a 7 day notice, so hopefully that's a good amount of time. If any complete earlier you'll be able to reconfigure it yourself sooner. We have a script that pings the IPv4 address before going through and reconfiguring it, so just make sure if you do it early that your VPS accepts pings (some Windows OS configurations will not by default.) Worst case scenario on the planned date, your VPS might get reconfigured again. That day is set for September 28th.

We'll also try to provide a timetable for when we expect your VPS to be reconfigured automatically based on the node. As in we'll go in that order and set a specific. This may come later in a network status update.

Here's how the process will go:

    1. We assign the new IPv4 blocks to each server, add it to your VPS as a secondary IPv4, and notify you.
    2. The secondary IPv4 will not work. You should not change your main IPv4 to this, it's just a placeholder.
    3. Once it's functional, we'll change your main IPv4 automatically to the new address and update network status page give a second mass reply to the ticket or e-mail we send you. The main IPv4 should not be changed back to the old IPv4.
    4. At this point both IPv4 will function, and you can use the reconfiguration button early if you desire. This will also give you a chance to catch any problems early and reply to the ticket requesting assistance.
    5. On September 28th, unless any unforeseen delays occur, we begin automatically mass reconfiguring any new IPv4 that doesn't ping, while focusing exclusively on handling replies to the IP change tickets reporting any issues.

Some benefits that come with the new IPv4 provider (we're not just doing it to piss people off, I promise)

    • More well-known company is being used with a proper longer-term contact to avoid future abrupt issues
    • Abuse reports go to us directly so we can avoid having to enforce our suspension fees in cases where we'd normally want to do so, or avoid having to implement additional fees for reports. Essentially, gives us more flexibility. We can also resolve abuse reports more quickly as a result.
    • We'll have the opportunity to potentially implement automated rDNS/PTR requests
    • We can finally move forward with restoring additional IPv4 where it was removed without having to worry about potentially having to do it all over again for a second time
    • We get to do it more smoothly by doing it now versus waiting until the situation with the previous provider deteriorates

Locations that will not be affected:

    • Tokyo
    • Denver
    • Phoenix

Locations that will only be partially affected:

    • San Jose - Only one server affected.
    • Atlanta - Less than half.
    • Seattle - About half.
    • Dallas - About half.
    • NYC Metro - Slightly more than half.

Other things that will happen in preparation:
Ryzen Migrations, Migrations, and IP changes will be temporarily paused. So if you wanted to do that now's your last chance for at least a week. New purchases will be restricted as well.

    Also an IPv6 update:
We're almost ready to start having these set up neatly and will begin adding them as well, most likely right after we're done focusing on these IPv4 changes. They'll be added automatically as well.

Any questions or suggestions, let me know. This falls more in line with how we would've hoped to initially handle everything with the Ryzen migrations and it's a possibility this time around since we're not also dealing with a million other things happening at once.

Consider all this an unofficial update. We're still in the process of finalizing everything.

    `Hello,

This is a (7) day notice. The change will be completed on Thursday, September 29, 2022. Your service will be rebooted on that date for changes to take effect, although you may be able to perform this sooner by referring to the additional information provided below.

    Current IP: 149.x
    Future IP: 47.x

    Additional Information:
A new IP address has been assigned to your virtual server as a secondary address, but it is not yet functional and should not yet be used. This address is provided early to allow you to plan ahead. Once it becomes functional, we will change your service's main IP address automatically, and it will appear as the main IP for your service and on your control panel. We will also update the network status page as they become available. When checking the network status page, your service node name (LAXA032) will be mentioned. At this time, both IP addresses will function during this transition period so you may utilize the "reconfigure networking" button early (optional.) Then, finally, on September 29th, we will automatically reconfigure your IP address.

We will post any additional updates on the network status page: https://billing.virmach.com/serverstatus.php

    FAQ:

Why is my IP address changing? Our current IP provider made policy changes requiring a fee to be paid in cases of reported abuse. To avoid having to pass down these fees, and to ensure continued stability, we have leased addresses from another company for a longer term.

What if the new IP does not ping? This means that the network configuration needs to be updated. We will post a guide on the network status page by the time the new IP address is available, so you can follow the guide in case of problems, but usually just clicking on the reconfigure network button on your service page works.

Will we receive IPv6? We are also going to assign your service an IPv6 address, but this will be done at a later time. We will automatically assign these when ready and you'll see it on your service control panel when it is ready.

What if my service comes with additional IP addresses? We will at a later time add a button where you can request back these additional addresses and pro-rated credits for the time they were unavailable. This button will appear on your service details page when it is ready.

If you have any questions, please let us know. Please use this specific ticket for any issues you have related to the IP change only and use another ticket for other existing issues instead. We apologize for the inconvenience.`

Ah, got nothing there. I have one on LAXA031 that was acting up.

  • Still nothing, i think is time to look for another server, virmach became a really bad service provider

  • I also received the email notifications about the IP address changing today. I think, it's now a correct notification about the upcoming changes. I have 11 "small" VM with VirMach. Looks like my 6 VM affected in this second IP changes wave. I think they replace all 'LogicWeb' IP address to "AliCloud / Alibaba" IP address. Interesting. Sadly they not mentioned the rDNS settings in the notification (It's not the most important thing, but I have an rDNS restore request since 2+ months).

Does Alibaba lease ips directly and then allowing them to be announced at third party networks? I did not realize they were in the market of doing so?

They do. Ocasionally those ranges aren't gotten legitimately so I hope VirMach didn't get one of those.

Supposedly a bit below market rate.

  • Tokyo About to go down again . Scheduled maintenance. 72 hrs. possible migration.

    Dear VirMach Customers,

The Tokyo location has multiple servers facing different issues, mainly TYOC040, TYOC035, and more recently TYOC026. While these are only affecting a small percentage of customers in Tokyo, we will be beginning a maintenance window in approximately 24 hours from now, from Wednesday, September 28, at 2AM US pacific time (or 6PM Tokyo time.)

This window will last approximately 72 hours and your service may be rebooted or migrated.

We will attempt to provide additional updates and a short notice on our network status page for when nodes are specifically affected:
    https://billing.virmach.com/serverstatus.php

We understand this maintenance is not convenient, but it is necessary to avoid continued delays in having a permanent solution. If you are facing any issues within the next week and are in the Tokyo location, please first refer to the network status page for information, before creating a ticket. We will communicate all specific changes there, which may include migrations or IP address changes. Customers on the storage node may receive additional communication via ticket, so please pay attention to your tickets if you have a storage service.

If you receive multiple copies of this email, it means multiple services are potentially impacted. Most customers will not be affected, but we are notifying you in any case.

    Thank you,

    The VirMach Team

Now i don't care wether they maintance for a week, a month event forever
I didn't planned to renew my service next year and never get used to it

IMO They are supposed full refund to tokyo user , not partially , because since first this vm actally has no use (1 month online and 1 month down, one weeks online and one week offline) and so on, for what purposed is this VM to buy i didn't understand, unless for yabs only and post in somewhere, correct me if i am wrong on this part

They just use us as they experiment and we must pay it with full price and give the gimmick cheap ryzen vps at start

they should have put quotes in order form " This is experimental thing and you must accept it anything happen"

And i didn't know why so many dumb people that still trying to defend them at this point (especially on HOLY OGF)
They maybe rich and just use this vps like they toy, use YABS here YABS there and then showing it off and post on forum, some of them even just collect them and just idling it, just like throw money as they like,
But i feel pity for someone that use this vps for some purpose or just small project and trying to utilize this vps with their tiny wallet, they have paid for nothing from start

    Thanked by 1Void
  • LOL . Just trying to get some info out. Hopefully you feel a little better.

I may or may not renew when it comes. But you are right I will never trust them again for anything permanent. This forum is where I found virmach several years ago and I have no plan to sign up where the game is increase the view count by guessing how many tickets are open and I am instead chilling out on the forum

I am getting more enjoyment out of this whole issue than if I would have gotten a refund for the remainder of the year I paid. That helps a little. After the first downtime I already moved my essential service off of their network.

  • My Tokyo VPS had maybe 3 days of downtime around when I first bought it, and a few times it had very slow network (fixed a while back). Other than that it's been working totally fine.

Uptime of a service I'm running on it. Actual VPS uptime is 100% since Aug 31 (when I started ping monitoring).
