    So it's bad to have west backed leaders but good if Russia backed leaders? Top kek!

    How about learning and be like Finland? Be yourself bro, dont rely on anybody.

    Worked well for Ukraine didn't it. And Finland and Sweden are already getting threats from Russia.

    Hey, all the power to you. To each their own I guess. The west is bad as it is. But I still like driving my Audi, using the latest Ryzen and writing this on an Samsung S21 while booking a Boeing flight to the UK. Ehm...right, sorry.

    The West is a big umbrella term. Now most of the good stuff coming from China, and other Asian countries. China (Phone), Japan (Toyota, biggest car brand?), Taiwan (TSMC biggest chip maker, Korea (Samsung?).

    Did Taiwan, Korea, Japan commit Lybia, Iraq crime? Nope.

    Your grand kids will probally using most of Chinese stuff in the furture.

    You will sadly be mistaken. There's a huge push in the US to have secure supply channels that avoid China and stick with NATO and other allies (e.g. Israel). I'm going to make a lot of money in the future few years cutting Chinese anything from major projects. As automation takes over, cheap Chinese labour advantage becomes less.

    You're already seeing signs of it with Huawei getting shut out of US 5G networks.

    Automotive supply chain is going to move away from China as well and take more control over their parts and supply chain.

    Again, the chips are not designed there, but by ARM, Apple, Intel, etc.

    That's not the critical part. The equipment used to make the hardcore lithography to make the wafers is made in other countries, which requires government permits to export and sell. The US has blocked or delayed much of that for China.

    Can you imagine 100 years ago thinking that people would get together and fight each other over which propaganda they prefer?

    I know nothing, I continue to know nothing. I don't believe distant truths are available to me in a pure form.

    Last Friday, they made new law in Russia: Journalists disseminating information that the Russian authorities claim is false risks imprisonment for up to three years. And if the "false" information is judged to have serious consequences, the penalty can increase to 15 years in prison.

    And promptly CNN and BBC left ...

    A very pleasing result.

    Oh, and @jenkki @default @Goodtesteronline don't be angry or disappointed. Most of those who fervently believe in the west being the good ones and Russia the evil ones are not ill willed nor particularly stupid; they simply really believe in what they say. But keep in mind how brainwashing begins early in schools and continues during the whole life. Hell, most of them even trust Wikipedia and quote from there as if it was the holy source of true wisdom while in fact it's just another example of the "democracy" approach failing miserably.

    Back to Hetzner: Totally normal behaviour for most large providers with only one remarkable detail: Hetzner's boss apologized to the ukrainian site owners - and even that isn't really remarkable but simply a business necessity in the current "Ukraine good, Russia evil!" hype.

    Haha, you will be remember for this when you are 10-20 years older. They have the brain and capabilities to do so. Look at their size alone. I sincerely do not understand why Chinese support Russian so much. You are nothing but humanoid machines making cheap products and tried to steal tech from west. Is Russia's shit show in Ukraine give you pathetic locusts the hope to invade Taiwan?

    Here is what the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said regarding the Ukraine crisis:

    I would also like to re-emphasize China's consistent position. We believe that security should be based upon cooperation. The reasonable concerns of all parties should be respected and resolved. We hope that all parties will not close their doors to peace but will continue to commit to dialog and negotiation and try to ease the situation as soon as possible without further escalation.

    At this point we could verify that we were responsible for the shutdown of the website.

    Not sure if trolling or incompetent. You really need 2 days to check if you shutdown a server or not when I am SURE the operators protested?
    Actually, no, you already checked AND decided it was NOT you pretty fast!
    How long does it take to run a query and check which accounts you shutdown which were paid with Ukrainian issued payment methods? I can do it in 2 minutes then I can manually review them in at most a few hours if they are hundreds, nowhere near 2 days, nor would I jump the gun immediately and say it was not me when a governmental organization accuses me of wrongdoing. I would've made it damn sure I know what I am talking about even IF there would have been no ticket protesting it.

    I don't think so. In 2014 they had the same excuse.

  • Their process needs a huge improvement.
    This is how they did.

    No answer first. Then they denied it without proper investigation. Finally, when the heat was getting too hot, they investigated it. How many average customers have lost their server because of human error?

    Chronology and TL;DR
    1. Hetzner suddenly realizes an account has suspicious activity and turns it off without notifying the owner, let alone asking for an explanation or putting in rescue mode or something similar so they could retrieve data;
    2. The owner calls Hetzner on the phone repeatedly to find out what happened but there is no workable reply let alone investigation;
    3. When the info becomes public that they shut down the server, Hetzner sees the site online and asks cloudflare whether they are pointing to their IP or not while they did not know which server or IP was that, let alone turn it back on, therefore it was obvious the site was online elsewhere;
    4. As CF confirms the obvious, they immediately decide to make public the fact the site is not hosted by them, without even asking cloudflare which was the old IP and when was it switched;
    5. Someone finally gets a grip and does what was supposed to be done days ago and checks the situation, then realizes the catastrophe and issues a kind of post-mortem.

    I must say that the post-mortem is far from being satisfactory and I would have asked for more, like an explanation about how that many failures could have happened AFTER they were notified about the incident.
    Yes, I get it, many problems with cybersecurity now, dealing with the fallout from the war means tired and distracted employees, inadequate monitoring systems, bugs from hasty development, it could happen to turn it off by mistake, completely understandable, but what happened AFTER they were directly contacted and even after the incident became public is inexcusable for such a company, this is not a summer host, I had way higher expectations from them.

    And its not surprising, Hetzner really has to do something about their complete lack of transparency and no trust in their customers. I was banned from their ref program and they didn't reply to me why they banned me until I posted in their thread. Public post = real shit, so they looked into it xD And you know why they banned me? Because of people who joined. I didn't break any rules. Someone else did, but hey, lets ban me (customer for years) too! They completely don't care about their own T&C.

    This situation with Ukrainian website just shows that Hetzner never asks, they just ban if they think they should. T&C wasn't broken, they just do whatever they want.
