No, money are taken by subnet provider for each individual IP which is not unlisted by ourselves.
We tried to do this with our ISP but didn't succeed.
Best regards, Florin.
Oh, wow... Fortunately you got your own subnet now.
It comes from exactly same provider, that means now I can lose more money because I have more IPs on risk..
I was hoping they would be more relaxed since it's your "own" /24 instead of a subset of one of theirs.

I'm just curious how other providers deal with scenarios like this.
Sounds like a shithole of a leasing provider.
One once asked same in the contract 50€/ip blacklisted. Asked them to lock it at only 1000 EUR fee Because you never know. lol. But in the end I went with a other.
I lease some of my own subnets to other providers too, abuse can always happen even if you are cautious. I just forward and ask them to remove the Spamhaus or whatever. All good. And so are the most others I know
Nice deal tbh.
Sounds like a much better solution compared to cancelling monthly plan. Besides what is
To clarify the situation, our power consumption goes crazy, something went wrong with sensors or firmware and server has power consumption 330W+ even idling (as you can see now, all fans kept at 22800 rpm).

We'll try to rollback BIOS update (did it about 6 weeks ago) which may cause this issue (we have no idea when this started but we got today extra payment invoice because our server consumed almost double power compared with first month).
Best regards, Florin.
Found out who's the intruder:

Well, the devil is in the details:
Your automation must be able to adjust the firewall automatically if the DNS record of mail server changes to another IP, which may happen at any time.
As far as I know, Florin has two intermediate level C++ coders.
Implementing the above is going to take one of them about 24 hours.
(I know because I wrote a similar app when I applied for a job at a network measurements company as a candidate coding test)
Unblocking by IP address without DNS lookups is easy to implement but risky, because whenever the email provider changes IP, customer server can no longer send emails, which is a partial outage.
@yoursunny must be up to his normal shenanigans... too many pushups.
Florin wanted me to treat his 5 push-ups as 50 push-ups.
Unacceptable!
It was all those YABS you run. I bet you caused the fire in OVH SBG location, too.
You reminded me to check the power consumption of our server.
It's dual Xeon Gold 6240 18-core processors.
The power adapter label says "10 Amps" so I asked for 1200W circuit, but it seems that I didn't need that much after all.
When you grow up you should buy this CPU, which offers more computing power within the same power consumption.
https://yoursunny.com/t/2021/OVH-halt-and-catch-fire/
According to Hacker News, a Dev mistakenly invoked the Halt and Catch Fire instruction on an Uninterrupted Power Supply unit, causing this incident.
The next fire could be caused by the SWMBSF instruction:
I know only one and that is cogent, they will charge you $20-25 buck for any abuse. But at least not 50€...
One more abuser, again 50 EUR.

Who said that blocking relevant ports will save us ?
theres gotta be a better way of doing this. ur just burning cash and doesnt instill much confidence to the next potential (legit) customer.
Hope you are reporting whoever that is doing this to the authorities.
u dont use maxmind?
No offence, but you seem like an easy target.
If you are serious about this bussines trow 12k and buy your own ips, 100 euro fine in 5 days is not making you any money. Find a better provider or quit, but don't go cociu style.
We don't count closing business as a feasible solution.
Thank you for feedback, we'll keep our business running, even that means to lose money for a while.
Best regards, Florin.
@FlorinMarian Have you experienced DDoS attacks yet? After heavy attacks, you can change your mind and shut down the company.
Mentally strong people don't hide in the shadow and DDoS.
Stand up and duel at dawn.
If you dare to attack my brother, I'll find you and put you on the naughty list.
It wasn't supposed to sound like an attack announcement.
But its service providers are usually not that strong and dislike DDoS attacks.
Many small hosting companies have shut down because of DDoS attacks. They are difficult to block and the pressure from customers and service providers is high.
Reminded me of Three O'Clock High (1987).
Watched.
I love this film.
🤜 🤛
Yes, it's a very good High School/Teen movie.
No nudity, parties, drinks or such things like in most of the 80s Hollywood High School and College movies.
It's a recommended movie just for the unique and funny premise
