People will keep buying the new offer and Cociu season 2 will premiere with the Ryzen series 2022

Yeah no, please don't advertise his new offerings until he gets his HDD House in order

Ah that's it. He built a house out of hard drives, because lumber has become so expensive!

You mean he sold the drives to pay for the ryzens'.

    @jsg ?

    I think that's BS.
But right now my focus in on the incredible fact that @cociu sent a promo email while most (all?) of his storage customers are still kept waiting. That's just f_cking incredible and disgusting.

Actually at 20% off HostSolutions web site price for Ryzen , your prices are lower very competitive with an obviously much higher service level. ;)

New customer, not considering double credit, Ryzen plans annual payment:

    • HostSolutions: 1GB RAM, 20GB NVMe, €44 (20% discount)
    • PremiumBytes: 1GB RAM, 20GB NVMe, $38.40 (full price)
    • DataIdeas: 1GB RAM, 10GB SSD, $30 (full price)
    • LetBox: 1GB RAM, 15GB NVMe 125GB HDD, $30.12 (active offer)

So, this cociu Ryzen is only for existing customers and those engaging in illegal activities.
Otherwise, it's worst quality and highest price.

XD more than 50% accurate, now need to wait for the promo credit email

Cociu has always been a hardworking guy who actually cares his customers. He extended the service of those effected customers for 1 year as a sincere apology. It may be a cultural difference that he didn’t send an email to respond in a timely manner, but I believe he was focusing more on fixing the actual issue than arguing with you Internet trolls.

    You guys are

    just f_cking incredible and disgusting

to come here bully this poor guy.

As for the new Ryzen product line, it was already planned long before the small hiccup and shipped to the DC. It has nothing to do with the current problem. Delaying the launch of the Ryzen servers certainly won’t fix the problem.

Unlike you guys who long for drama and talk BS just because you dislike someone, I only talk about FACTS.

I suffer from Stockholm syndrome lol, Bought Ryzen VPS 3 with 30 GB Nvme, it was deployed automatically, it had cent OS installed even though I selected Ubuntu at order page so I had reinstall OS via control panel. Bought it for 1 month, it will cost me like $5.6/month in credits or like $3.8 actual cost, I have like $150+ in credits in my account, might as well use it while I can lol.

Let me know if any benchmark testing (like tell me command line commands on how to do it) I should do and post results on his new Ryzen VPS. I already installed some software (for torrent) but I disabled most of software via Swizzin control panel, as I forgot to benchmark before installed my software. (Cause I am dumb, RIP me)

Take out thine cup and sing on the praise! Halejolucrate!

Because I feel I'm in a safe place I'll share too; I get the same kind of really great care as you but the outcome is different for me. I like the abuse. It too helps me with "something", wink wink, nudge nudge.

Usually I would have to pay for this sort of treatment, but I just imagine it's Billie Piper in a sequel show, where she's older, fatter, with no make-up and speaking in a thick Romania accent, and immediately, lo, it hath Ryzen!

tl:dr-bad luck, no recovery policy in place, very poor PR skills.
    This not bad man maketh.
I have watched him from the start also thinking he will deadpool in a month. Then a year, then...
But you do not understand Romanians. This is do today somehow, we will see how we can make it work in the long run, think on your feet, panic and spend more than you ever planned and learn the lesson. Latin people are not planning too much, they just do, when it doesn't work, we hope we can fix it somehow, we will see then.
Was it bad planning? No planning? Bad luck? Some awful communication and PR skills? Of course. Did you expect otherwise at those prices? Shame on you if you did.
What is sure for me is that there was no malice in anything, he did not do a run, if he will, then it is because there is really no other way to continue.
He seems a dedicated man which does his best. He couldn't do better, nobody is perfect, but he never charged you for perfect services, this is the essence of LEB/LET, enthusiasts doing the impossible on a shoestring budget, you are faulting him for being one of us.

  • jsgjsg Member, Resident Benchmarker

    @Maounique

... except for one thing: he doesn't inform his customers or only with a very large delay, his ETAs are worthless and as a result he forces his clients into a dark room lottery. Absolutely unacceptable, period.

As for the rest I largely agree.

@jsg said: except for one thing: he doesn't inform his customers or only with a very large delay, his ETAs are worthless and as a result he forces his clients into a dark room lottery.

This is included in very poor PR skills.
PR people are expensive, that is a skill set in itself, some people here are on the autistic spectrum, they do not understand how people work, how to get out of a difficult situation, at some point they concentrate on solving the issue and they think they can come back when things are back up.
What did you expect? Communicating often with wishful ETAs? Spin doctoring more than he did? He is obviously an optimistic man which thinks ppl will always deliver when they have promised but in Romania nobody worries too much about deadlines. I am sure he got delayed by things he failed to anticipate, then coming back and give another ETA he cannot guarantee because it depends on other people?
Sure, he could have explained things in detail like I did when we had outages in the past, but this is not a skill often found among geeks. He is not Amazon or MS which can lie so nicely that you say thank you.
That is unfortunate, but he did his best to compensate for this and I can't find him at fault for other things than being a flawed human like us all.

Such behavior motivates hate and it's a direct attack to other business, without any contract or partnership or respect.

As a subscriber and not a provider, I want to add a housekeeping note that I hope folks read my post in the spirit it was intended (as you likely did), which is to try to laugh about something instead of getting upset over it. As we've all learned from Monty Python, life, and low end hosts, are all piles of shit, so might as well look on the bright side of involucrate, ya know?

Personally, given the sign up process with hostsolution (as a n00b to it), my expectations were incredibly low, so they haven't had to change. Honestly, still more reliable and communicative than, oh, say, Centurytel...

Is @cociu serious? Like, I haven't even complained about the network outages, and yeah I'm still positive (and praying) that my server will one day be back alive, but waking up today and seeing an email for 20% off Ryzen with absolutely no update on when my server will be back up, that's just poor form.

Like honestly, why would anyone be purchasing a new service when the current service is on fire? Instead of sending that email, they should have just sent an email saying "everything is on fire but it's under control". I'm quite disappointed, and that's just at the very least.

    LOL...wat

@dahartigan said: Providers bashing providers is tacky and ugly IMO.

Would you have said the same in, say, the GreenValueHost era? How about hosts that have outright scammed and been banned?

Because HostSolutions' behavior here is approaching that level.

    • Systems offline for weeks in some cases
    • Like pulling teeth to get any kind of update and really there still hasn't been a solid explanation
    • Financial sketchiness
    • And now sending out new offers to his mailing list while tons of people (3,000 customers I think he said) are out of service

Indeed, it's amazing how quickly he burned through many years' worth of community good will. I can think of several other providers who had significant outages with data loss for clients (including at least one provider commenting in this thread) but they handled it professionally and pretty much the complete opposite of @cociu.

If @Francisco, @seriesn, and others had mocked some random provider's offer, that would be a different situation entirely. Have they said anything untrue or that wasn't clearly marked as logical speculation? It's not like they're spreading gossip or trying to torpedo @cociu. His behavior is beyond the pale and they're calling him out and I don't see why that's inappropriate.
