    Thanks @hosthatch, @cdrive .

I don't understand why hosthatch is rude in some of his answers (I read the whole thread).

Sorry, I thought comparing people to MIT trained mathematicians would be considered a compliment.

Weren't you claiming we need to get orders in order to be able to "rent dedicated servers" to service those orders? Do you realize how this is false and far from the truth? Do you realize how this would be a bad business practice (or maybe you are used to those in your 8 successful businesses that you claim to run)?

Sorry buddy, you can't go claiming stuff like that and don't expect a response. Free speech is as equal for you as it is for me.

I know I need to keep a professional and polite tone since I represent a business and not myself here, and I probably have failed in doing that a few times in this thread, but I feel like I am also quite polite and nice to people not claiming stupid things about how I run my business.

@desperand said: A strange man with no patience.

Yes, I have been called many names in the last few days. The funniest one was probably the "blackbox personality, single-man". I guess my mother is not the only one worried about my relationship status.

I got an AMS storage server few days back which had an internal IP assigned from the start.
However, my AMS NVMe server that was just delivered doesn't have an internal IP assigned.

Is this the case with only my server? Can anyone else with a AMS NVMe please let me know?

I was kind of hoping to be able to hook them up over the private network. :|

After reading your post, I don't have an internal IP address either for my AMS server but maybe @hosthatch can answer on this one or you may have to open a ticket. I personally don't need one, the server is perfect as is.

/edit Seems you've already got your answer.

I know they are very busy and working hard now because I recently heard "You've got mail" from hosthatch multiple times

  • Blackbox personality - Single man.

    Mama, I am sorry. 😅

Looks like my 8GB ams email came in 2hrs ago. Plenty of hours left in the week to check it out.

Sorry, but you sound like 12 years toxic teenager and an idiot.
Shame to use services from people who act like that for simple comments or questions.

Where are warranties that you won't, for example, shutdown or terminate a server because of your mental issues or bad mood? What if you wake up and start to shut down servers without any reason?

Ah, you already did that some time ago... Well...
Good luck, people, with their servers that purchased from hosthatch. In this thread is everything that I need to know about the hosthatch. Thank you for your answers. You saved me a lot of time and nerves in the future. =)

  • Got all my servers delivered, the 10TB one especially, was able to download 750GB in around 1hr. Also got quick replies to the tickets I raised where I needed help.
    Thanks @hosthatch

  • Mine also provisioned without internal ip. It looks like we are at the same node guys. Hope you will not overload our server and constantly run useless benchmarks every hour ;-)

Nothing to do with the node, we disabled automatic internal ip and ipv6 on new servers, so people who need them can request it. Please ticket in and we'll get it done for you.

Always glad to be of service :)

  • Pretty well-balanced node.
    0 steal.

My goto 10 sec real-world benchmark.

    Grabbed iperf 3.9 https://github.com/esnet/iperf/archive/3.9.tar.gz

    time make -j2
    .
    .
    make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/yeahright/src/iperf-3.9'

    real 0m4.503s
    user 0m7.748s
    sys 0m0.857s

There you go . It is a FAST non-oversold vps , considering E5v2.

@K4Y5 said: Edit: Seeing benchmarks being posted here, I am wondering whether getting 1G or 10G port speed boils down to dumb luck and/or specific nodes that people get placed on? A couple of VMs of mine came with 10G, while the rest were 1G.

Keep in mind that downloading a test file depends on a bunch of other factors, such as the speed of the hard drive on the server you're downloading from. iperf3 is a better test for network speed as it doesn't touch the disk. There's many public iperf servers (eg look at the list in the YABS source), or otherwise if you have multiple servers with 10Gb/s ports you can run an iperf server on one of them and the client on the other.

    @RedSox said: Guys, I have a question.

Installing Ubuntu on the entire disk
    Creating partitions:
    / - 20 GB
    /var - 20 GB
    /swap - 2 GB
/home - the rest of the disk

The second case is useful only in the case of reinstalling the system and not losing data from the home directory, or this case provide some kind of performance? For example, if a person looks at data using NextCloud, and the data is on /home, then / is less loaded?

Not sure about performance benefits, but the main benefits I can think of are:

    1. You can wipe the root partition and reinstall the OS without messing with user's data (as you already mentioned)
    2. If one of the partitions is somehow corrupted, it (hopefully) won't affect the other partitions and you can fsck just the one corrupted partition (so the fsck will be faster)
    3. Filling up the /home partition won't break the entire system, compared to filling the entire disk. Not only is the disk space separate, but the inodes are also separate (so if you have a LOT of very small files, you'll only hit the inode limit for that one partition)
    4. You can use separate file systems per partition (eg ext4 on one, btrfs on another)
    5. Not really relevant on a VPS most of the time, but you can dual-boot two OSes and share the /home partition between them. Some people use VPSes for remote desktop rather than as a traditional server (particularly with hosts that offer Windows), in which case dual-booting can be useful.

It used to be common to have /tmp as a separate partition to avoid temp files consuming the entire disk. It was usually mounted with noexec, to avoid rogue shell scripts being dropped there. However these days I think many Linux distros mount /tmp as tmpfs (essentially a RAM disk) rather than a real disk partition.

Just got 4 of my 17 servers, though I didn't receive an email. Looking good! :)

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before, but the Warsaw location shows unknown location in the panel.

    Thanked by 2Ouji RedSox

  • They are hatching!

Without mails of setup though, but that'll be fine since I keep refreshing HostHatch's control panel.

Good job - time to start setting them up next weekend.

    Appreciate your efforts (at)hosthatch! o:)

Same... I've got four of my 10x bundle so far. Now I need to figure out what to do with them! Haha. Will probably add a few more locations to https://dnstools.ws/.

I have one still in the UK  outstanding....

  • At least for some flash sales the delivery time was set to "10 business days". I've got mine provisioned early, but overall HostHatch should have some extra time to work on those.

  • The Warsaw server doesnt have a little flag beside its name. Its only got "unknown". :disappointed:

    Poor little guy.

Every time it's so interesting to observe so called "cociu effect" (maybe it's Stockholm syndrome fork?).

@TimboJones said: Frankly, you're getting satisfaction if HH delivers a VPS on schedule, and if they don't, then what? Jollies or no jollies? Looking for an "I told you so"?

Of course there is no people who could do such things:

    • Order 3 .eu domains for 10 years each (netim running promotion ATM) with phrases such as "sc%amhost%atch" and "fra%dhos%th%atch"
    • Begin 3 to 5 months long rampage throw various discussion forums with few topics in mind "sc%amhost%atch" and "fra%dhos%th%atch"
    • Submit BBB complaints Or there is?

This speculation better left unanswered as HH just delivered my server. Someone loves running on the edge a real blade runner.

Are you on crack? I don't know wtf you're getting on with.

Sir, I am CEO of 16 corporations and we will perform a hostile takeover of your business for pennies on the dollar. You will be financially ruined! Just as soon as our Windows 3.11 server is provisioned as it handles our accounting application, and is how I pay my lawyers. I should not have cancelled last year's BF special so soon, but it was a dollar more than this year's...
