    VPS node better uptime? You must be kidding. How many times has OpenVZ needed a kernel upgrade in the last few months (security, anyone)?

    A 'serious' website can be fine on a €3 dedicated server, the I/O is as good as the average VPS provider (~130MB/s) - network is good, maybe not Gbit, but not everyone needs that.
    UnixBench performs ~800 - that's more than good for most things an average LEB user does, and anyway, I doubt your provider would like you using more than what the Atom offers in CPU power.

    Well for one thing he is a VPS provider...

    But I think it would be a lot more meaningful for providers, instead of saying OVH is cr@p, to actually focus on providing services that would make customers going after them than OVH. Say for example, many providers now have free add-on services, which is always a plus, also note that the Kimsufi 2Gs are not RAIDed while most of the providers here offer RAID10 for the nodes.

    guys where can i shoot an a email to contact OVH? thanks.

    on EVERY page in OVH, on the bottom, there's a link saying: Contact us

    @rm_ As Costumer you must ask then for running Public Proxy or Tor, take a look into TOS/AGB They said its not allowed on the 4Euro IntelAtom.

    Call them unless you want to wait 2 days for a response

    Tor middle node is not a public proxy. The main issue with public proxies is the abuse that random people could perform going to the open Internet from the server IP. This does not happen on middle nodes, only encrypted traffic to other nodes comes in and goes out.

  • @zhuanyi You're right. also, AFAIK, @azzavps only provides OpenVZ. hah.

    @rm_ I know this.... but they say at these little cheap servers: No.

    Hmm, can you link me in which ToS do you see it?

    I ordered from the French site. Is there any way to get to talk to anyone over there in English?

    @Infinity580 that's a Germany-specific ToS, maybe has to do something with their weird laws. There is no mention of Tor or public proxy registration requirement in neither English nor French ToS. "Proxy" is only mentioned later, in the bandwidth AUP section. But no word that it is forbidden, or has to be registered.

    @joelgm Where do you live?
    You could probably call the .ie or .co.uk support

    I already did that, but I can't blame them for not responding till now. Someone had mentioned that they got a quick response after calling them, so I'd thought I'd give it a try.

    Any idea how long it'll take to get these setup?

    @jcaleb How's the pups?

  • talsittalsit Member

    FYI, the KS2G and KS4G specs have changed on the ovh.ie and kimsufi.com page, now reflect 1 core/2 threads vice 2 cores/4 threads. Not sure when the cutoff on the 2 cores happened.

    That is also a reason to go with a VPS, you know what you're getting upfront, OVH KS offers have a lot of variablility, sometimes for the better (N2800 instead of D330/425's is a nice variance).

    The ovh.co.uk forum is saying 1-10 days on the KS servers for delivery right now.

  • trexostrexos Member

    Ovh.de changend too. I ordered nearly 24hrs ago and they said 2 cores and 4 threads. Do I have the "rightt" to get that or only 1 core 2 threads?

    I'm in the same boat. I asked on their forums, but i doubt i'll get an official response before the server is provisioned (which was estimated at 24 hours then but now 1-10 days). If i get a definite answer, i'll post here.

    I think to much orders anyway, they have only singecores left.

    You have a contract to receive what you ordered. OVH are not allowed to change it after you singed up. If they do, they have to give you the option of leaving penalty free.

  • talsittalsit Member

    I ordered three different servers, KS2G, KS16G and mini-SP. Right now have a KS2G from last month. If it's the 1 core version it makes an excellent (non-RAID, non-redundant) backup.

    What does it say on your invoice?

  • talsittalsit Member

    Mine just says KS2G with no other specs.

    Just called up OVH, if you had signed up when it was 2 cores, you get 2 cores, end of discussion

    EDIT: Also, if the availability was 24h when you signed up, you will get it in 24h, 72h at most.

    Thanked by 1talsit
  • what is email address for the ovh support?

  • How long does it usually take to provision from Payment confirmation email from them?
