@willie How to handle the chargebacks or those that didnt shut off autopay? Do we tell them the same thing they tell their clients and shame/mock them on LET?
Actually the main issue new clients will find is the IU change, is someone manages to create a similar, then, the client will not complaint much and more if you explain the reasons why you are changing the panel.
The best practise would be to keep both options, cPanel paying the customer $0.3 per reseller site and switching to DirectAdmin
There is a DirectAdmin skin similar to cPanel's, it cost $4/mo or $19/y

It looks nice
Yes, it really is.
cPanel hosting is going to get more expensive all round, LET-type customers will stop demanding it and LET-type businesses will switch them onto another panel. Technical customers would probably prefer an unmanaged Linux VPS anyway, especially at today's prices. Non-technical customers don't care what software is on the server as long as it works.
I still predict some back-peddling on cPanel's part but I understand that nobody wants to stick around to find out.
I noticed DA owned licences are only $300 and the new skin, which is now stable, has addresses the only gripe I had with DA. I picked one up and I have to say I won't miss cP/Plesk. Contemplating getting a few more just in case - $300 is a steal.
Yes it looks modern and better themed cpanel, but thats my first time I see a yearly skin. It should be onetime
Is cPanel ion-cubed yet?
Last I looked it was all open perl.
How hard can it be to change it to report one user...
Damn, they will never have thought of that...
Any theme/skin people out there willing to make cPanel clone themes for DirectAdmin and VestaCP? I'll pay you for your time if you release them on GitHub.
I guess this will be the best option. The problem is that WHMCS still doesn't support such thing so it will be difficult to make this work easily.
I don't think reseller plans are gone... only unlimited ones will be gone. Now you'll have like reseller plan with max 25, 50 and 100 accounts and the price for licences will be included in the price (it's $5, $10, $20 extra for the cPanel) and that's about it.
I have yet to see resellers with per-user-added pricing but it seems inevitable that those will appear.
If it got that complicated VPS will be the go-to for a larger portion.
You understood that wrong. Re-read, thanks.
No need to pay anything
I might look into creating some in summer vacation if I can make some time.
Following this it shouldn't be too difficult: https://www.directadmin.com/skins.php
Blesta does support DA
And I'm using blesta from 2 years
Migrated from whmcs to blesta lifetime and I'm very happy with it
Ultimately it will be the end-user (i.e. the one that pays the final bill) that will decide whether cPanel is worth it or not.
Same
Blesta lifetime is great
Support & Updates included hehe^^
I was simply referring to the fact that cPanel is just a gui and a few wrappers. The magic that happens behind that it all comes from great open source projects. Since they decided to destroy the industry for the small shops, I was simply suggesting that maybe some open source projects, those doing the magic, should change their license to prohibit cPanel from using their code or depending on it. Imagine if apache and mysql/mariadb started charging cPanel for them being a crucial part of the whole cPanel thing.
Just imagining the scenario, not that it will ever happen. I'm pretty sure such a great company like cPanel will come to their senses and modify their pricing structure soon enough. Not that it affects me that hard anyway, but my providers... oh bruther...
I see maybe only 5 new people discussing CP to DA conversion on DA forum.
That's too little.
There is not much need to discuss it though if it just works. Tbh the migration tutorial seems quite easy to follow. And we all know how rarely people comment when things are working. When things don't work though.. that's another story. Cough reviews/trustpilot/younameit/debianthx
The conversion is a big step. There has to be people asking before committing.
The size of reaction is just too small which makes me think that most will likely stick to CPanel for the time being.
Cyberpanel is another one that has come up as a candidate but don't know, man. It looks to me, the rage is all talk but no action.
If you do, PM me your PayPal and I'll make a "donation".
There's no real need to commit right now with the pricing change 2 months away.
Well you know, when people get shit on they have a right to anger, perspective comes later.
60 days isn't much if you are planning to migrate your entire server lineup. Better start now than later.
But that's just me.
Any group of hosters with a $xxxK budget and patience for one year until the first production release of a new shared hosting control panel?
I'm sure others are like me and have been focusing on making changes rather than talking about them.
Yes it's researching options time, but not yet commitment time.
Also many will have at least 2-months (not eternal) hope that cPanel will "come to their senses".
Will do
Well, any control panel is a front-end to other software.
You may be underestimating the added value of cPanel ("just a gui and a few wrappers") for many people.
It's easy to understand why cPanel customers are upset about cPanel's sudden price hike, but there's no reason why Apache or MySQL/MariaDB should care, and it's not as though cPanel were the only proprietary control panel to interface with Apache and MySQL/MariaDB.
