Does anyone know why cPanel website is inaccessible right now?
Have you had the chance to check CyberPanel - Open-source Panel Based on OpenLiteSpeed ?
I guess we sent off some flaws to them in 2018. Not sure what they were TBH, as it was done over Slack and not traditional means...
Reached out to them about an hour ago to get a full license. Going to go over them and a couple other open source panels, from top to bottom to help the community get a better idea of who had the most flaws but also who was the best at fixing them.
DDoS:
Is it just me or whatever they say on Twitter feels like trolling.
no worry will have a lot money now to invest in the ddos protection.
Sounds promising. Perhaps the developer @cyberpersons could help out with the licensing?
This is the Plesk team who initiated the DDoS to their brothers. That's because Plesk's servers went down after the thousands of cPanel users started to migrate to them.
In a serious manner, I think the person who initiated this is really angry about the new prices.
Well, they should know that DDoSing them will actually help them since they wouldn't need to deal with the flame wars on their forums.
Looking on the Twitter replies no one give a f**k about cPanel as they are greedy.
Great! web.archive.org seems to be offering the same old pricing: http://web.archive.org/web/20190610065558/https://cpanel.net/pricing/
Problem solved using time machine!
Because newer is not always better (TM)
That goes the same for Apple products.
Apple is now selling a metal stick (Monitor stand) for 999 USD. Fuck'em.
I know. Solution: Don't use Apple. DIY
I don't.
Teens, especially girls, seem to love Apple though.
That's because it is expensive maybe... This should be why cPanel is increasing the prices: they want to attract teens

Simple question with a complicated answer. It appears that all of them are lacking in some significant way, compared to cPanel.
stupid teens..
cPanel unleashes price hikes on its most dense customers - The Register
Summer hosts
They go to dead pool before collecting new incoming money ๐
based on today downtime they do use AlphaRacks, their node just was terminated for outstanding bills
the rest about DDoS is excuses as they do looking for backups if they do have as their control panel is very often failing to do it
Or they shut down in name of DDoS in an attempt to silence raging customers. I am getting this vibe from their twitter posts. They seem happy to be down at the moment.
Give it a few days and it will be much more manageable since PMS don't generally last for days.
Keep us posted, I'll be happy to create WHMCS modules for whichever one(s) you deem worth investing time in (assuming a module isn't already available).
Sure, the license is already assigned to @SecNinja account. Thanks for the input.
The hosting industry just learned a lesson.
I wish all the open source services and projects involved or used within cPanel that actually make cPanel what it is..., change their license to exclude cPanel from using them.
This is like if Apache or MariaDB/Mysql were to change from open to proprietary in all version.
Selling licenses so expensive for just a skin and a few wrappers...
Something like that happened not too long ago, I forget which software it was but it was up there with Apache and MySQL in popularity. The devs changed the license away from GPL or something and the community just forked the last version that was under GPL and kept it alive and strong. It was a really eye opening moment for me and I was super impressed at how the community handled it. I really wish I could remember what software it was.
I just moved a cPanel install from one machine to another... son of a B*tch. Now I'm going to install Direct Admin and reupload the data
Yup
ISPConfig .
Looking at this from a different angle, I believe the forcing small companies away from cpanel was completely intentional. Let's face it, the big non-LE mainstream hosts are likely to stick with cpanel and either eat the cost or increase prices, while LE hosts will seek an alternative.
In one fell swoop, they change up their pricing structure to basically eliminate a significant portion of their clientbase, yet still maintain the same amount of revenue. It's a win-win for them. They get to greatly reduce their support load and perhaps hire some more devs instead without losing any revenue in the process.
I'm not saying this is ethical at all, but in the end they are a business trying to increase profits, streamline processes, and cut expenditures. I'm personally excited to see interest in alternative panels as that's going to drive innovation. It's about time cpanel lost their monopoly on the LE market (and seeing less "alpha beta master omega reseller" offers is just an added bonus).
