If your aware of issues with vanilla, why not switch to something more stable like mybb?

  • jbilohjbiloh Administrator, Veteran

We've been working with Vanilla over the past week or so to resolve all of the vulnerabilities. We've spent some time, when available, to enhance the visuals. We intend on making LET appear almost identical to the pre-hack LET over the next 7 days. We appreciate your patience.

    Not as nice. Layout wise.

You can use own layout with MyBB.

Is there a converter from Vanilla?

MyBB has had more than its fair share of security problems over the past few years, and last year they had their site hacked so you'd be moving from one problem to another. Plus many 3rd party plugins for MyBB are poorly written and have security problems.

Agree with Jack. I prefer Vanilla's layout.

Thanks for the useful information. For now we're probably going to stick with Vanilla. We'll be making some additional changes soon as I've mentioned previously to restore the old look at feel.

The LET users are quite conservative. With all the bitching because the theme is a little different than what they are used to, imagine what would happen if the forum software and interface is totally changed.

Whats a Mann gotta do around here to get a Dude's account permanently removed as well as his content instead of just banned when he asks this question?

I'm pretty sure this Mann is utilizing multiple accounts, Dude!

why would you want to screw up every thread you posted in?

  • As @JonathanZhang pointed out, the "Thanks" button is now "Like". I guess we can thank like Facebook for this abuse of the English language :)

Stop this nonsense and put the Thanks button back!

My personal opinion is that there's too many buttons now :) And replacement of "thanks" with "like" today dont have much sense as both existing "like" and "agree" buttons have pretty much same functionality now so I agree - lets keep "thanks" if there's need to be so many buttons already.

@sleddog should I click "Agree" or "Like" button near your post? ;-)

    Agree
    or... even
    Like
or ... where is the damn Thanks button when you need it?!!#

    :-D

  • Apparently the signature is gone too? Something is up.

  • ^ This.

No line and same font/size gets confusing fast if you're not familiar with people's signatures.

  • SpiritSpirit Barred

It won't stay that way. Still in process of restoring old design.

  • IshaqIshaq Member

Also signatures seem to look like they're in the post and not separated.

  • prae5prae5 Member

Drop the like button - is a waste of space.

Disagree and Agree is more than sufficient.

  • jbilohjbiloh Administrator, Veteran

We're getting pretty close to implementing back all the old visuals. Hold out a little while longer guys. :)

  • earlearl Member

Curious, did they ever find out who hacked LET?

    I agree and disagree :)

I agree that having a Like button along with Agree/Disagree is confusing and probably redundant. The meaning of "Like" is very unclear: it might mean that you 'agree' or it might mean you're saying 'thanks'. And that's why that button should be "Thanks" instead of the much misused, ill-defined, social media "Like" nonsense.

When someone posts something that you personally find helpful, you can say Thanks.

When someone posts something that triggers a debate, you can Agree or Disagree with the various points of view.

    It's not complicated.

It's been around 10 days since this was said, and the two noticeable differences since then are changing 'thanks' to 'like', and removing the distinction between signatures/posts, two changes that move us further from LET pre-hack.

Any update on why it's behind? I'd take a simple answer like CSS-compatibility troubles if that's the issue. It'd just be nice if the community was kept in the loop.

Also all the emails from LET go into spam or don't arrive to me at all.
Vanilla is obviously an incompetent joke.

This has been a tough experience for them. They have worked hard to help us out, and for that I appreciate their efforts. In the very near future (I expect first half of this coming week) LET will be back to the old theme, and the nagging email/link issues fully resolved.

Thanks again for the patience guys. We really appreciate all of you!

The boys at Vanilla pushed it back another few days, grrr. We're applying maximum pressure.

And I'm bugging them to figure out why the signatures went MIA without notice. Or semi MIA.

Signature looks like content, making my one liners a 4 liner. I will thank you later for that :P
