Nope, not that I know of.
any way we can the avatar to show up on the home page like it use to be before?
We're working on that too @earl
There's a long list of bugs and visuals we're still working on. ETA to have everything back to how it was pre-hack is about 1 week. We appreciate your patience.
No Rush, just knowing it's being worked on is good enough.. I do like the extra bells and whistles we've received so far
Two questions to the new admins:
Do you intend to make public that you have been cleaning out people's private messages? Namely say oh....mine?
Are you taking on a new moderation style that consists of editing whatever you feel like? (Obvious answer, yes)
@Jack If I saved screenshots of every PM I sent I'd have some, but the deleted one wasn't a conversation, just a one way message. It's relevance to the new admins, I'd say 100%.
I was the sender.
You do know a backup has been restored multiple times, so your message could have been lost in that? There have also been two times that everybody has been an admin here and could have just as well removed you messages. I find these pretty wild accusations because you don't know what happened to your messages.
You lost a PM. So did I in those days, multiple actually.
I realize you may not like the new situation, but nobody is forcing you to be here. And to be quite honest, the hate gets annoying and tiresome. I liked the old jarland here a lot better.
@mpkossen Only "hate" I see is you here ranting about my asking a couple direct questions to Jon Biloh in an extremely relevant thread. There something you'd like to get off your chest? Go ahead brother I'm listening. You can "complain" about me all you want but like you said, it gets annoying and tiresome and nobody is forcing you to be here. You're not dragging me into your personal drama.
This PM came after the backups. Unless there was a rollback in the last two days? Oh and when everyone was admin here? Private messages weren't a feature in the admin panel. That's not a vanilla feature. Thanks for letting me know though, that it is now. Screenshot taken, since you'll edit this out when you read it. Just like you've been going around editing or deleting everything else that you don't like here.
For the record I can confirm that a PM from Jarland with relevance for the new admins disappeared from my inbox.
However I can't say if it was lost in the backup restoring or deliberately deleted.
Yay censorship
@jbiloh
Considering you own a DC how about some lowend dedi offers that runs along datashack/wholesaleinternet pricing?
Kinda like $20 dedi's new management specials??
I would like to be able to see the avatar of the main thread poster when listing the discussions/threads, if possible, as it used to be. Thank You
Your PMs have not been deleted intentionally (if at all?). LET has gone through 7 backup restorations, 3 different versions, varnish issues (vanilla managed hosting problem), a cluster failure (also a vanilla problem) and a few other annoying challenges. When you make that many changes stuff is bound to go bonkers.
When you direct everything in our direction (that the CC "overlords" are the cause of everything) you negatively impact your reputation and legitimacy. Just take a breath man.
Because you and two other people on this forum say so? Please. I asked a question, appreciate the answer. You can try to make that last part happen by power of suggestion all you want to, but I don't need a "reputation" with colocrossing. Have a good evening brother
Saying things like this makes me question your legitimacy as a provider. You can't even keep a forum up but you're expected to keep this entire section of the industry online? Good luck.
You are correct. He outsourced it. Exactly what should be done when you and your entire team don't know how to do what you're trying to do. Which is...run a web forum.
I agree, @jbiloh did do something about it. He has put it in the hands of the Vanilla team. My claim was that his company as a provider and their team was not capable of keeping a self hosted vanilla forum that they own secure. I never said he didn't do anything about it.
At some point it's embarrassing, but outsourcing is what many big corporations do nowadays to distribute the risk, embarrassment, and blame.
Ryan, the LET problems had nothing to do with ColoCrossing's capabilities, but rather multiple exploits in the Vanilla software. Vanilla would only provide support for their software if we hosted it on their managed infrastructure. So we paid the piper and did it.
It's open source, painfully simplistic, and you have a full staff. I just think it's a massive oversight to be running this place as long as you have while clearly being a well funded operation, your business is completely based on Internet services, and you have 0 staff members who can address web server and php/SQL vulnerabilities. You run racks of servers and you had to outsource the hosting of a web forum, and not even for the reason of DDOS but for vulnerabilities. You can't just push servers and not worry about staying relevant on the details that will matter most to your clients. If you can't run a web forum, how do you expect to continue to grow as a provider to providers? Eventually a lack of understanding of their needs will catch up to you. This is why a provider has to be a client if they want to be the best at what they do.
There's an old saying "Those who can't do, teach." That's a problem though, when the teacher is someone who can't do that which they teach. As a provider, it's a problem when you can't do what you're selling your product to be used for.
That's something you should think about as you move forward. I realize that priority #1 was getting it online because there was a lot of money riding on it, and I do take note of your willingness to drop the necessary cash to do it. But this outlines where you failed to be the best that you can be. Learn from it. Hire a web developer, guarantee the continued growth of your company without a decline in quality. Anyway, good luck in your future endeavors.
Jon, you can't blame LET problems on the exploits in Vanilla software, Nice try though. When ColoCrossing took over LET, it became their responsibility to maintain, secure and fix the vulnerabilities of the open source forum that they self hosted. It was never Vanilla responsibility to do this until you paid the piper to have them host it on their managed infrastructure.
I've got a great deal of respect for both of you and the operation you run at Catalyst Host; however, you're coming across as a vicious tag team at the moment. If there were multiple unknown vulnerabilities on Vanilla, I do not think it is Colocrossing's responsibility to audit Vanilla and have a full time PHP developer on hand to fix these problems. If the problems were purely web-server related, then fair point.
@ShardHost You're free to interpret the events as you see fit. I don't filter myself. I am who I am and honesty despite what anyone thinks of it has always been my style. You may like it one day and hate it the next, but that's me take it or leave it.
As for whether or not its their job to hire someone who can run a website, yes it is. So long as they sell ads here, that is their job. I don't care if anyone here likes that I'm the one to state it. You are all welcome to not read my posts in a very relevant thread. They raked in cash and did nothing to attempt to secure the website or even audit it. Period.
Not sure if this has been asked before; but whatsup with this annoying theme?
Trollbots with their honesty theme again.

If someone give me a pit bull, it is my responsibility to train the dog under my possession to not to attack people even when it is hungry.
I don't think it's about LET making money, but more to avoid this embarrassment, with the minimum cost possible.
I think it is now time to cool down and review things back, and when we find things to be fixed, then we should do it for the sake of the community.
Yep aware, will be fixed in the next 12 hours.
