Common practice a lot of places. I actually tried college for computers myself, until I found the Head Tech at the college would just image a machine instead of fixing them. He would literally wipe the machine, then use a PXE image to reinstall it instead of actually fixing anything.
When he came to me to fix his networking problems it was the last straw. I knew that colleges were no place for a guy like me and stopped wasting money on it.
