  • :o I don't understand how a company can stay profitable at these prices. & $1 for 1 core is insane prices as is hostnoob, you'd be lucky to get 1/4 of a core elsewhere.

    yeah I'm joking :P

btw you get access to 1 core, I don't know what their usage limits are like.

  • It's a quad core CPU, older generation... 2010 model. To remain profitable under network and power costs he would have to sell quite a few containers on the system.. I wouldn't be surprised if customers only get 10-20% of a core.

They're not trying to make a profit, they have other ranges for that. If we assume the $1 range breaks even, then they're gaining a new client for $0 which is pretty good in my books :).

    Amazingly good actually :)

Don't forget payment gateway fee, it will leave them $0.6

That's why I've chose the Bitcoins to pay. Yes, they're accepting.

  • Their support isn't the most speedy. I only had a very simple question for them:

I'm not complaining at all, though. I never really use support anyway ;)

  • I just got one, speeds on par with Dedi deals earlier ( To SYD, AU )
    Native IPv6 is nice,
Also for those wanting to save, $10/yr is available, ;)

Yes all of our containers have unlimited traffic.

  • Errr, where abouts are you guys seeing IPv6?

Can anyone confirm whether they enable tun/tap and encfs/FUSE (or will enable them on request)?

When you log in to their VPS manager, click "login details" and it will give you a SolusVM url and username/pass. you can enable tun/tap and PPP from there

    Dacentec is scam?!?!?!?

    Mine have 4 cores :

    root@dct-vps:~# wget freevps.us/downloads/bench.sh -O - -o /dev/null|bash
    CPU model : AMD Opteron(TM) Processor 6274
    Number of cores : 4
    CPU frequency : 2200.000 MHz
Total amount of ram : 512 MB
Total amount of swap : 1024 MB
    System uptime : 31 days, 20:24,
    Download speed from CacheFly: 6.16MB/s
Download speed from Coloat, Atlanta GA: 5.73MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Dallas, TX: 56.5MB/s
Download speed from Linode, Tokyo, JP: 12.5MB/s
Download speed from i3d.net, Rotterdam, NL: 3.67MB/s
Download speed from Leaseweb, Haarlem, NL: 3.47MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Singapore: 8.34MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Seattle, WA: 26.7MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, San Jose, CA: 25.3MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Washington, DC: 10.7MB/s
    I/O speed : 40.3 MB/s

But everything seems terribly slow. They replied that was perfectly normal and I needed to upgrade to a dedicated server to get better speed... well ok.

    KVM plan is even slower...

All in all you get what you pay for but IMHO for $1 can't go wrong anyway if you use it for has a test environment. For production one should go with Ramnode or similar.

This thread is not about your servers, not about your stock level, not about your company. If you want to advertise your services then do so in an offer or request thread.

You're free to post whenever and wherever you want. If you're brought up in conversation, then go ahead and plug your offer. But do not enter threads and state "hey check my signature for this $1 deal".

Just ordered one, IPv6 doesn't work though. Sent a ticket, will see how fast or slow they are.

    Yep, they are quite fast.
