No it would not, certainly figuring out why it powers off in the first place should be a priority (and from their reply for them it is). If they cared less, sure they'd just "turn it back on" and leave you waiting for the same issue to repeat.

That makes sense. I wish they would have communicated this to me in this manner. Between the initial "try it again shortly" reply and closing the ticket and the last response of "it somehow got powered off" it rubbed me the wrong way. I imagined someones four year old running through the racks pushing power buttons. Since I'm suffering from lack of sleep due to a project I needed this server for, I will try to be more patient in hopes that once it's fixed the server will be rock solid.

Their support is usually pretty decent...I always had sub 5-10 minute ticket response times from them and if something was wrong with my server they would usually figure it out relatively fast. I had some tickets with them that were kinda "ehhh" but for the most part I thought they did a great job considering the prices of their servers.

That makes me feel better. I like hearing good reviews from actual customers. One of the reasons I went with them is because of the good review and prices. Oh well, 5 hours of downtime now. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. Maybe the server caught on fire. I was running it kind of hard, lol.

Datashack is a "reseller" of wholesale internet. Or maybe I should say, they are the same. Same staff, same datacenter, almost same prices.

Huh. Well it might be one of those same people behind multiple brands situations that are very common in the hosting world. It doesn't really bother me. I run multiple brands. I just thought it was odd that they were linking to their reseller but if they are combined like that then it makes sense.

  • Anyone received a dedi from this offer? Just wondering what the current provisioning time is.

About a day for me, but they made a mistake with the first user's password. So it really took 2 days after the second reinstall.

Just had my Core2 Quad delivered - a Q9300 2.50Ghz, which is better than I anticipated for this price. Just over 5 years on the HDD, no bad sectors. Serverbear coming when I get the chance.

Ordered the $15 one as soon as it was on stock, over a day ago. Seems like a nice catch, waiting for it to be delivered now.

  • @FrankZ What do you use for that report?

  • klpowell said: @FrankZ What do you use for that report?

    wget http://mirror.dacentec.com/bench.sh -O - -o /dev/null|bash

you need to have haldaemon running

Thanks! Just a little stronger than the Core2Duo, but the extra RAM and the HDD makes that $5 worth it.

    Core2Quad:
    UnixBench (w/ all processors) 2834.0
    UnixBench (w/ one processor) 1111.6
    RAM: 4GB usable

    Core2Duo:
    UnixBench (w/ all processors) 2248.9
    UnixBench (w/ one processor) 1169.1
    RAM: 3GB usable

Agreed. Would make a nice little remote Plex server for someone.

  • For some reason they rebooted my server just now :/

  • Sorry to bump this topic, but I'd like to just post my Geekbench results. They are nothing to brag about, but for the price it's perfectly reasonable.

    Single-Core Score: 1254
    Multi-Core Score: 4110

My 'server' came with a ECS G31T-M7 (unsure which revision) motherboard.

As of this moment they're out of stock, though.

Just ordered the Intel Core2Duo, I guess the last one because it's now unavailable. The $10 Atoms are still available.
