He does get a bit of a hard time on here, partly from providers and partly from other people his age who seem to have a real hardon for him. His company has also added fuel to the fire though, IMO.

After all said and done, the service is inadequate and frequently offline, so even getting 'reimbursed with yearly credit for a VPS' still seems like 100% of nothing still being nothing.

    Yep, it is.

At least for some of us it is. Sorry had to say it. Some of us think this place is the be all, and end all. It is not though, the world is a far bigger place then this little niche of it.

This is true however keep it in context, GVH is really no bigger than LET.

  • Want to know the uptime of a GVH box if you don't care to write a ticket all the time it is down?

I guess I'm just thinking "Well, someone's trying to run a business and they are suffering"

I have suggested more than once that Jon is probably not 'to blame' in large part and that, rather, he appears as a naive, unfortunate mouthpiece at the centre of various hidden/layered problems. It becomes too easy to turn him into a scapegoat, and people should know not to kill the messenger.

At the same time, if you want to speak about 'suffering', then yeah,

But maybe I should . . . pay attention to what GVH is actually doing.

Helen Lovejoy exclaiming, "Won't somebody please think of the clients?!" etc.

  • 'm Worse, I'm without my VPS to more than 15 hours in GVH. 3 open tickets and no response.

Yeah I tried buying an Atom. That never came through so instead of a refund I took account credit. I used the credit to get a VPS. Was good for about a week and now is a yo yo. So I'm likely to just take the loss and move on. Although to be fair I got a VPS from DrServer for backups and here's the result of bench.sh

    root@backup:~# bash bench.sh
    CPU model : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 0 @ 2.00GHz
    Number of cores : 4
    CPU frequency : 2000.038 MHz
Total amount of ram : 987 MB
Total amount of swap : 0 MB
    System uptime : 27 min,
    Download speed from CacheFly: 95.8MB/s
Download speed from Coloat, Atlanta GA: 5.22MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Dallas, TX: 65.9MB/s
Download speed from Linode, Tokyo, JP: 11.9MB/s
Download speed from i3d.net, Rotterdam, NL: 9.30MB/s
Download speed from Leaseweb, Haarlem, NL: 22.4MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Singapore: 8.22MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Seattle, WA: 41.6MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, San Jose, CA: 33.9MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Washington, DC: 73.2MB/s
    I/O speed : 9.2 MB/s

Network is great. IO is dead.

You have clients. You did not do any research about your host before putting clients there. You have no own offsite backups of your data. Again: It's all your own fault. Period.

  • I have backup offsite, but, corrupt in this lasts days!! see http://prntscr.com/4wi7fb... This 0 bytes not exist... Lost all !! Gvh is *uck-me.. Or .. Me *uck-me

lacked information? Google "GreenValuehost sucks". Seems like you lacked common sense to put clients on there lol. Cheapness before smarts always fail.

  • Yes, I know I've been guilty! Now I need a solution ... In fact they need to activate my vps so I can migrate.

Try to find a lawyer who works for $5 per case to get back those $7.

I'm sure if you opened a ticket he would sort it.

    LowEndLawyers?

  • GVH just plain out sucks! It took 5 days to get the ipmi information and another 3 days waiting to get the unit reset, which I am still waiting. Which is straight up ridiculous! My tickets are always waiting on a noc tech. Oh well i tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. That just my experiences.
