My (bad) lesson from GreenValueHost

I changed the title of this thread, just for another newbies find it easier :D

Hi all,

I'm very new for Linux and VPS's world. I started to learn everything about 3 weeks ago. Because I'm new so I purchased cheap VPS. My first VPS is very good, I can access by using SSH client everytime I want. But the new one (from the SAME provider) is very bad. It's unstable and unreliable. I can't do anything with it. I asked for support and an "Operations Director" told me everything OK. I asked for help again but he keep saying that everything OK.
Once again, I'm not an expert so I don't know how to monitor the downtime of VPS. But I know the difference between those 2 VPS.

Old VPS - 3 weeks statistic

New VPS - 3 days statistic

As you may see, the memory usage of new VPS is not stable. I think because it was down so many times. Please tell me am I right or wrong? Thank you so much.

Ask to be moved to be on the same node as the 'good' vps.

It seems you're using all your ram and your application may closed ssh and/or other apps. What are you doing on that VPS?

I assume you're with GreenValueHost. I believe their services are operated by high-school kids who oversell their services too much. (I.e. put too many VPS servers on one node so that it becomes overloaded and laggy and crashes..)

    Find a better host.

Why the old VPS still OK with that?

You're right! It seems they're very famous here.

    FTFY

The amount of crappy reviews are astounding. I guess you got lucky with your first VPS though!

GVH's 'senior technical supervisor' is posting on forums saying PM yourself for help? Don't GVH have GVH_Alex as their "International Public Relations Specialist", or some other bullshit fancy title?

  • "senior technical supervisor" should be "high school senior technical supervisor"

  • Senior technical supervisor(aka trainee support technican at a real company) to the rescue!

'senior technical supervisor' - Do you supervise the less senior supervisors with their supervising duties?

@GVH_Alex - Some international relations magic is required in this thread.

As everyone known the name of that provider. So I decide to keep sharing this story :D

After sending and answering the request tickets. Operations Director keep saying everything is OK! And I want to refund (they have 14 days refund policy). I asked him how to apply the refund and he replied "you can submit a cancellation request in the products/services section of your client area" without any warning!

Yesterday, I cancelled the new VPS and waiting for my money. Today, they killed new VPS but I didn't see any refund so I asked the Accounting and surprisingly Operations Director appeared again with the answer "You don't qualify for a refund" !!!

WTF, if he known I don't qualify for refund why he didn't tell me a word? Now I believe I lost my money and I think it's worth for very good lession: "NEVER buy anything from CHEAP company that runs by only one man".

Ps: I still have the old VPS with them (purchased for 1 year). I guess it will be killed sooner or later :D

Here the screenshots of my tickets. I share them just for fun.

I still don't get why people sign up with services from GVH. Jon obviously has zero customer satisfaction skills.

    Corrected that for you.

  • That's just horrible support. I hope you end up getting your refund.

Next time you buy a VPS, do a search here of the companies name. It's not hard to find out who the good and bad providers are. If the offer seems too good to be real, it probably is.

@GVH_Alex Might be worth explaining to your mate that asking if someone is Vietnamese isn't 'crossing a line', it's simply being friendly. Thanks.

@GreenValueHost, whatever happened to this ?

"3) Our clients mean the WORLD to us!

Without a doubt we can proudly say that GreenValueHost is a customer-centric company. Without our clients, we wouldn't exist. This entire company revolves around our clients. We would bend over backwards and jump through flaming hoops to satisfy you, and we aren't kidding. Going the extra mile is what other companies will try to avoid doing, however we don't cut corners to make things work. We know our priorities and our clients come first before anything else."

Interesting links which have magically disappeared on their cirrent site; apparently clients dont mean as much to them these days ! ;)

May I suggest to the OP that you seek an alternative VPS from a reputable company such as BuyVM.

did they wait till the end of the billing period to kill the VPS?

I doubt that has any relevance here since a cancellation request was submitted.

when requesting a cancellation you get to choose if it's immediate or at the end of billing period.. he most likely went for immediate hoping he'd get a refund "immediately"

I suspect though. If he asked for it to be terminated immediately then I would expect them to do that.
