I can’t answer the renewal aspect (I’m sure their support can but), however I was already looking to buy emClient prior to your deal and subsequently finding out about the free license, which I’m using for now.
I was interested to know if I could use the free SmarterMail license to buy a lifetime emClient license, and then keep it in the event that SmarterMail doesn’t renew its agreement with emClient or there’s no renewal option. Emailed emClient asking and they confirmed that if you pay for the lifetime upgrade to emClient, you then own that license irrespective of what does or does not happen with SmarterMail
I’m undecided if I’ll actually do this as it’s still expensive for a “what if” scenario. I could bet on the SmarterMail license renewing and there never being any impact, and save the $150AUD. It would however be cheaper to upgrade through this license than to buy a new one from emClient direct, which is $50-$100AUD (depending on sales) plus the $150AUD lifetime addin. Can bypass the $50-$100 client purchase basically. FWIW I can see no evidence that they ever discount the lifetime addon, so that is what it is.
Probably not much use for most people, but something to know anyway. If a new person wanted to buy emClient it’d make sense for them to go via Name Crane or a similar partner of SmarterMail and access the software that way.
This is correct.
There is an official 2FA plugin for roundcube, but it's pretty expensive and I'm meh over RC anyway. Very take it or leave it.

They care about the privacy matter more.
That's ok, thank you
Thanks for chasing this, it's good to know. I"m testing the eM client right now and pretty impressed with it.
How does it compare to Spark?
Or say whats the key differentiator in eM?
It's already done. I reconfigured it
I am currently using Thunderbird and I'm not sure why a "normal" user would switch. It takes ages to start the app compared to Thunderbird (Win 11, 2s vs 11s) and doesn't offer "killer features" for the average user in my opinion. I would love to hear the key features why people are using eM Client instead of Thunderbird or even the Webmail. I mean if it's free I am more than happy to explore the options with the software.
It's well integrated if you want contacts/calendars/chat all integrated in a desktop client.

@Francisco , could you enable the custom login background option in smartermail

Btw, the chat ( xmpp ) works for you with SSL on Thunderbird?
I have never tried chatting in Thunderbird. Didn't even know you could use it for chatting.
When will this deal end?
Full built in camp that integrates with the users on your domain

Is it possible to provide a roundcube frontend? Just too familiar to its UI
Unified UI across all platform which helps with deploying to non-technical family members
Maybe I can put something up, but lordy :P

I've read all 24 pages (took a while) and just wanted to confirm. @Francisco you mentioned you won't migrate data from US to EU once it's available. Does data refer to uploaded user files, emails etc. or the customer's account data on your side?
For example, if a user purchase a plan now and idles it until EU is ready, is it possible for their account to be migrated to EU if they want?
Nope ,
Nope
EU will cost more. It’s a bunch more work for us to invoice the difference and all that.
It’s not going to be double the price or something, you guys are in full freak out.
Francisco
@NameCrane, not sure If you ran out of stock or the link to the correct page has changed, in which case let me know and I'll update it, but the 3 year plan mentioned on page 1 does not show up.
It's the $10/year plan, just choose Triennially billing.
Considering ~15-20 folks are active in this thread ; isn't it chump change for you / namecrane to forget about the "difference" and provision it without re-invoicing?
I just added domain and just playing around with UX - so far so good. Need to get some getting used to & figure out what's available and what's not.
Like someone else pointed out, I am NOT gonna use the webmail as long as compose triggers a popup. It need to be fixed asap.
Also the webpage which generates the auto credentials (postmaster) - can it include a "print" button as well.
Edit - having a hard time embedding image here. Image link here - https://pasteboard.co/Q6XCcvsRj6Oh.png
I have 2 emails in my inbox - both from domains owned by me - hosted on Gworkspac. Both landed in my inbox of Namecrane and hovering over sender verification, both have "this is likely valid address but not in your contacts". I don't have spamassassin enabled - just default settings as of now.
I am confused with which one is flagged as "spam" in the analytics page or what attribute triggered x or y to be spam?. As of now there's no way to pinpoint it or to find which specific email is cross referenced in the analytics page.
Is there a way to get details of the number of emails sent by a user ?
Can see reports for the domain but not a user. (edit) Just found the user selection option.
Also I am from the UK and really would like the date format changed to dd/mm/yy particularly in the reports.
You mean the GDRP thing? Why not encrypt everything? Is there a practical difference based on reality if it is hosted in the U.S. or the European nations? 5 eyes and all (or is it 15 eyes? I don't remember, I encrypt just in case).
Encryption is not possible while handling mails. I don't think you can convince every sender to encrypt the mails they send you.
Yes of course. I meant the storage. But does it make a practical difference between these 2 locations or is it more of a perceived privacy?

For me it's the later. There most likely isn't a huge difference but I prefer to keep as much data as possible within the EU. Thats why I'm moving away from MXRoute although I'm more than happy with their service for 8 years now. Dunno why they moved the server to the US without even informing the users.
