we have lost our data with frantech
Enough is enough, we have been customers of frantech and buyvm for easily 10 years, with about 3-4 virtual machines and storage of about 6TB but every year we have some incident related to our systems, either they go down or the storage fails...
the last one has been to lose our mail data of the last 10 years... it was a system that we did not have backup because it was not important, but the worst thing will be to recover the functionality of a system again that will be costly in hours of work without the data...
Any more reliable provider to host data and with machines at a good price but that has incidents every year?

You, not the hoster, should monitor the data, or you pay
I am agree :-D
As @ourvds said, you should be monitoring the service. Sounds like you already know you should have backups but aren't bothered about the loss of data, but it seems you've lost config. You should have a disaster recovery plan in place so you can restore service if something like this happens.
It looks like you've had issues for a while but instead of solving them you've waited until it ended in disaster.
My point is, if I need to recover my config, (any disaster recovery plan is not free to execute) and every 6 months is failing the storage of the data or loosing the data.. this is not working...
When incidents every year is a requirement, I can recommend ihostart.com. @Calin is doing his best to reduce the incidents to annual events.
Jajaja Thanks my english is crap... at least is cheap.
felt like the good old thread

Create a backup even on the same provider, can go the same way.. ups sorry I lost you data.. at the end the data was no critical, we lost the data..
greencloudvps.
they have very well configured raid10 storage.
never concerned about IOPS
but always backup important data.
Data backup is the user responsibility, unless is a fully managed hosting services.
No matter what provider you gonna choose they will lose your data and/or go offline, it's a nature of computer things.
Good luck finding new one, "more reliable" - just go some big provider like AWS (oh wait) then maybe someone smaller, like OVH (oh wait)?
I don't know maybe some test with hosthatch or go with netcup.. I don't know.. but as they said... allways backup.
So, because you didn’t care about the data and didn’t backup or even use the Snapshot features in Stallion, you’re upset at your decision and want to abandon a provider that’s well known, reliable and does their best? Failures happen, but if you’re willing to throw away the service because your mistake then you should head to a big cloud like AWS, back it all up to S3, and enjoy those failures and extensive charges.
You were already tired of BuyVM last October (= 10 months ago), and yet now (= 10 months later), you're still with BuyVM?

Let's see again next year, maybe another thread tired of buyvm again.
Not important and no backup but you still come to LET to tell us that you lost data which is not important?
It is normal that you provider lost you data and every 6 months have a incident related to the service of the machine.. (I can understand the downtime) I said a long downtime.. if this is the standard procedure.. ok.
every 6 months?
some providers here had downtime every day lmao
"tier 3 dc"
nope, node5!
This was different situations, I was evaluate migrate because I have incident with storage every 6 months. at the end I migrate to a new server on Amsterdam location.. but now the last incident is lost the data, time to work on exec the recovery plan.
If the solution is buyvm is a great provider is a standard on the market have issues every 6 months, with only 3 6 machines.. ok I guest..
Hmm
@Francisco
yeah best to have a backup and have a backup for backup
bakap
my i m hav offsite bakap petabytes

I recommend Hetzner Cloud. They have good uptime and decent prices.
You can attach extra storage to the VPSs, and you can take snapshots and use automatic backups of the entire VPS. This makes it easy to get back online in case of hardware failure.
You can test it with a free €20 cloud credit (new customers only): https://hetzner.cloud/?ref=03MKJMctu2t0 (aff)
Or https://hetzner.com if you dont want the credit.
Then why stay with the same host when you are unsatisfied?
I was using the old qemu machines for the fist releases I gest that the issues was related to the old hardware at the same time, the Block storage was only released on Las Vegas.. a few years latter I see the new hardware kvm (more expensive, but who cares) and storage on Amsterdam (the server was closer and newer) but.. this is why..
on a enormous offer of servers and prices, (the same block storage can cost 1T, 5$, 10$ or 15$ or 150$ depending of the provider) and with no information is complicate to choose what is better price/quality...
If the buyvm offer is good on terms of one failure every 6-8 months for 3-4 machines.. is good to know that I need to pay more..
My post here it to notify the issue and if somebody can said you can find better SLA on other provider for the same price I will check it, not to claim any to frantech of the backups.. thanks for everything.
