  • One more thing for those who use ansible:

We need to install openssh-server and config a new port, the default ssh port on the panel can not be used by ansible.

  • This is my first Romania-based VPS, good price. :)

Is anyone else experiencing extremely high load when torrenting on their VPS? I've been testing a few Linux ISO torrents, and the VPS becomes basically unusable and load average spikes to 10+. This happens in qBittorrent even if I only download one torrent at once and limit download speed to 200 KB/sec. Using rtorrent, the load average got to a high of 2-3 at points but seemed to fluctuate when downloading one torrent and limiting download to 1000 KB/sec, but it got up to the same 10+ when download speed was left uncapped.

Here's a screenshot of top while running rtorrent limited to 1000 KB/sec download (high load, but still usable):

I wouldn't expect great torrent performance on a nat vps of these specs. Especially when there's probably 200 other people trying to do the same thing. You'd probably be better off using this machine as a vpn or proxy for a torrent client elsewhere.

Thx. One could just replace the default dropbear with openssh-server as well, saving one port ;P

double ram will be added later on? I see 512MB at the moment.
also yabs disk speed test seems very rough

fio Disk Speed Tests (Mixed R/W 50/50):

Hello, today is the big day, after wake up I start delivering VPS.After delivery all the VPS i'm start add additional of 512 MB for those who have left the number of invoices in comments I'll leave "Thank you" to every comment that left the number of invoices to take into account the progress of VPS additional ram, wish me good luck because are 300+ orders :)

  • @r4h156 said: Is anyone else experiencing extremely high load when torrenting on their VPS?

Yeah, similar situation here. Transmission-bt was unresponsive when two torrents (2 files in total) added, but SSH is fine, and the load is about 0.3. The web interface became working after several minutes.

I was surprised when seeing the result of "lscpu", CPU of 32nm process, that reminded me of my first computer.

Anyway, many thanks to Calin for this affordable offer.
All I could ask are IPv6 access and a decent uptime.

BTW, you have to self-provision this. I had no idea, my first VPS of this kind, albeit I did have other NAT ones, they were using different panel.
Upgraded to bullseye, everything went smooth.

Oh Man. Already got Wireguard setup and it is working perfectly.

Do you have any pointers to setting up Wireguard? I'm new to Wireguard, OpenVZ, and NAT VPSes, so I have a few learning curves going on. When I follow instructions for getting started with Wireguard, I get the error:

[#] ip link add wg0 type wireguard
    RTNETLINK answers: Operation not supported
Unable to access interface: Protocol not supported

I think this might be because my linux kernel is only version 5.2. (I provisioned with the Ubuntu 22.04 image.) But I think with OpenVZ I am unable to update the kernel. I'm not sure what to try next. Thank you for any tips or links!

    Wireguard in userspace.

There could be more to it, but WireGuard would have to be enabled on the host as well. It's much easier to use one of the userspace implementations of WireGuard when you're operating in a container such as OpenVZ.

There are a couple options, and there may be more than this:

If you'd like a much less "hands-on" approach to installing WireGuard, @Nyr 's WireGuard-Install will handle all of this for you, mostly regardless of operating system or virtualization type: https://github.com/Nyr/wireguard-install
