Recommended VPS providers for VPN service
Hi all,
We're a new VPN provider looking to help internet users in Iran, China and Russia to fight censorship. We're in the process of bootstrapping our project (which you can already try for free in a limited version) and are currently looking for multiple VPS providers that would help us cover a list expanding to +35 locations quickly during Q1 2023.
So for a quick question to get the discussion started - to all LET members, what VPS provider you've worked with and were extremely satisfied with the service?
Question to VPS hosting providers on the forum, do you accept VPN exit nodes on your network and if so do you have offers with unlimited traffic?
Thank you!

Ideal VPS configuration for our VPN exit nodes right now:
Thanks in advance for your offers and recommendations!
Been using a BuyVM VPS as a VPN exit for a couple of years, great service.
I see nice locations with BuyVM such as LUXEMBOURG but also the US locations sound good: LAS VEGAS, NEW YORK, MIAMI.
Is the unlimited bandwidth they advertise real? How much traffic is going through your VPN?
You can push as much traffic as you want. Its truly unmetered.
They are really popular for Tor Exits as well.
Since you are non-profit from what I see, they may also handle "abuse" reports for you, like they do for Tor Exits.
Thanks both for the tips! @bgerard @treesmokah
Not much traffic going through mine, only a few hundred gb per months. No DMCA on the LUX location is nice though
That's a very good point about DMCA, thanks!
Here is my suggestion to you
https://incognet.io/ (visiting their website you will know that they are privacy based)
https://alexhost.com/ (Moldova is in Europe but is not a member yet, is a exotic location, freedom of speech allowed, dmca ignored)
https://hostslick.com/ (Supports freedom of speech, good prices)
https://buyvm.net (supports freedom of speech, good hardware and network good locations in LUX supports TOR, dmca ignored in LUX)
https://vsys.host (freedom of speech supporter many locations)
https://privatelayer.com (used a lot in TOR and Proxies and VPNs for privacy focused)
https://svea.net
https://prq.se (do i need to talk about them? Of course they support many things)
https://serverastra.com (tolerate against abuses, forwards before suspended.
There are few more, but this is enough. In this "mini list" you find many providers for freedom of speech, reliable service, offshore, dmca ignored, tor allowed (of course not all)
Regarding their Acceptable Usage Policy or TOS is a good way or contacting them directly from ticket.
Have a good luck.
that's a big list, thanks @HostMT3! some providers I know, the others I will check out.
Would be great if you add Turkmenistan to your list. There are also strict censorship
Our VPN service is global, everyone is welcome to use the product to bypass censorship including of course internet users in Turkmenistan. Are you from Turkmenistan, are there any particular anti-censoriship features or proxy/vpn protocols you need?
We have 21 US locations, and UK/NL as well, with three more locations coming in January, including Canada. We expect another 10-20 more locations thru 2023 as well, including alot more international sites. Might be a simple solution for alot of locations quickly for a service such as yours. Our plans I'm sure are within you budget, if reasonable, just may need negotiate on bandwidth with us...

This is a project full of benevolence! Kudos to @vpnfail
I had not heard of BuyVM, and was looking for a VPS with unlimited bandwidth, so thank you for sharing.
IncogNET is premium.
What about North Korea?
Thanks for supporting us! And don't be a stranger if you need anything VPN/proxy related.
We truly aim for a global VPN service, so everyone is welcome to use our services for internet freedom. I wish I knew more about what solutions are popular in North Korea - if you have any insights, don't hesitate to share.
And you don't think your name is a fail?

@treesmokah
Thank you

The name was chosen to help attract attention to our service, and based on the fact you took time to comment about it that means we chose the right name
should have tagline VPN For All Internet Lovers
Do note BuyVM has burst limits, it depends on the number of cores/threads you buy iirc. Do check with their staff before purchasing.
What you think about my Inputs?
Privatelayer hosts a thousands and thousands of pirated websites, tor and reverse proxies to bigger websites. They are always repeatly listed in US watchlist, for ignoring abuses and specially DMCA. This is a good one.
HostSlick.com - hosted KiwiFarms this showed his power for fight against freedom of speech.
Alexhost.com - hosted Kiwifarms and some proxies and also shows his power to ignore some abuses and have some dirty forums and allows freedom of speech, DMCA Ignored.
PRQ.se - This one is not cheap, not everyone will handle with them, if you do shit then you will be treated like a shit in support with them. That's. They are fair enough and good people, but if you do shit in their servers, they don't have problem to suspend you or giving some "aggressive answers" like Piratebay does.
Incognet.io - Is freedom of speech based, who visits their website everything is very clear. Hosted Kiwifarms but can't handle with big ddos attacks, quite normal for a new hosting nothing bad about it. At least they tried, better than those than told that hosts freedom of speech and doesn't do that (**cof cof flokinet)
Flokinet.is - Well their service aren't bad at all. We must say they have nice services, the issues is their "freedom of speech about not posting vaxx" that is against their own beliefs of freedom of speech (they removed that shit finally), but my trust in them dropped a lot. Probably good hosting, but with kind of attitudes is not good for them.
Serverastra.com - Forward some abuses and DMCA, usually you don't need to do anything, unless you are doing something shady and illegal, but they are very tolerant and doesn't suspend you fast, unless is something pretty illegal, they forward to you and wait for your answer. This is a good one for DMCA also, their way of working is well described in their main page of website. Looks nice for freedom of speech or privacy.
bahnhof.cloud - This based in Sweden, are one of best. They probably will fight for a customer or blockage in Court. If privacy or freedom of speech is being censored or anything like that. Great hosting for privacy, freedom of speech and some dmca ignore. Not cheap prices.
Thanks for sharing your experience with the LET community, it's definitely helpful for us to be aware of each provider's specifics so must be helpful for others also.
PRQ and Privatelayer especially stand out from your list, we've also had very good experience with them in the past. Expensive and reliable providers, opposite of being described as "low end".
About Flokinet we have mixed feelings, heard both good and bad stories about them lately, but we've never had a direct experience with them so can't confirm or deny.
Interesting other providers that you shared we've just added to our list for reviewing. We'll get back with reviews of them for the LET community if and when we decide to go forward with each.
Well written, you have included many important things.
Regarding Privatelayer, I forgot to include, but Privatealps are their resellers/associates - you can get vps at reasonable prices and they will likely give you a discount.
Yes there are also Solarcom and SwissVPS that are neutral.
Sending that tagline directly to our marketing team
Yeah, Karen won't let you abuse a 10Gbit port 24/7 for $40 a year.
