  • @hosthatch it's been a week and there's still no IPv6 route on my APAC Storage VM in HKG. Raised an urgent ticket #459254 6 days ago but no reply at all. It's not some minor issue but a fundamental one. Have been with you for almost 4 years but this is really unexpected and disappointing.

My storage in HK has a working IPv6 but not my compute VM in Switzerland. It has one but it doesn't work at all. Both are promo plans.

Regarding IPv6 HH supports IPv6 in some locations and not in others. My understanding is that this has nothing to do with being on a promo plan or not. Please see this page to see if IPv6 is supported for your location.
Support time response may take longer if you are on a promo plan from what I have seen, and what is stated by HH in the OP, but other than that I have not seen any reason to expect promo plans to be different than regular service plans.

  • Their IPv6 is broken.
At-least for Tokyo location, their router on fe80::1 sometimes stops responding to neighbor discovery from vm.

  • My IPv6 on HK confirm that work althought sometimes no route in a few hours

It's not supposed to be related to being a promo plan or not. If it's a feature listed while making the official order, it should be delivered with the service. If it's not working correctly then I think it can be regarded as a fraud.

@hosthatch please resolve the IPv6 issue mentioned in #459254. One week of response time for a urgent ticket on a promised fundamental feature not working is terrible.

I don't think it will be helpful for me to comment on the HH ticket response time for promo plans, but regarding your IPv6 issue you could make sure that the primary IPv6 that you have assigned to your VM is [youtIPv6subnet}::1 as IIRC that is required. Also I have noticed in the past that when using other IPv6s in the IPv6 subnet that I was assigned sometimes one or another would not work while others did.

Is it a good idea to skip using HH's IPv6 entirely and use He.net's IPv6 Tunnel Broker instead? Is there anything I should be aware of because it just works?

The config file in /etc/netplan/ with their original OS is correct, they have [addr]::1 configured normally. The address in ifconfig looks correct, and nslookup is also working. It's just that the routing is missing out and doesn't look like a client-side issue.

reduced network quality (HE singlehomed versus HostHatch's network blend) and lower bandwidth (1g versus HostHatch's 10-40).

Thanks for clarifying! If so, I'll be using it until HH fixes my IPv6 issue then. Hope they will reply my ticket soon.

Did you follow their docs? Like @FrankZ said you have to set the address as [yourIPv6subnet}::1 for functioning v6.

There's absolutely zero reason to be opening an "urgent" ticket given the limited support explicitly stated in OP.

    HH should refund and cancel.

I own 3 VMs at HH, IPv6 configuration at LAX & SGP works perfectly for me. I also owned a HKG DC2 nvme VM and IPv6 worked out of the box. I've used the exact netplan config for all my machines except the subnet prefix. I double checked my config and reinstalled several OS templates but none of these work for my HKG storage out of the box. Definitely not a user error.

I had to manually configure mine, I have several VMs in all the HH locations and the only ones with broken v6 are the m247 ones (basically all of Europe besides Stockholm and Amsterdam). The APAC stuff works fine with ipv6 now that they've revamped their network. Did you set your V6 manually or are you just relying on their auto installer?
