Kubbur was good while it lasted. I think a lot went wrong and things could have been done differently.

Wishing everyone involved the best and hope you can get passed this drama.

The long version was a lot more interesting!

I preferred the long version. Wish it stayed up.

I respect people who burn $10k on a dead brand just so they have the challenge of rebuilding it

I remain heavily doubtful those skids even had $10K to blow. Kubbur had no hardware, no IPs, and no assets as a whole except a website. Their VM panel was just a proxmox wrapper.

Ignoring the razer-thin margins they had on selling at Kubbur, I was the one who sold them a cab many months ago at Tempest/Path originally (it was to Jack at the time, cabinet had a 60 day ETA approximately at the time). There is no way they were making anywhere close to the cabinet costs, it was $3300/month plus $3300 setup fee. Jack had paid it originally then left Kubbur, got refunded, then it was on the Kubbur kids to pay for it… we all know how that worked out for them.

    Disclosure: Former CEO @ Tempest

No I actually spent 11k thank you very much.

Wait, so dramagg is a webhosting specific drama forum, and dramaggisbs is a drama forum about dramagg being bs.. Am I missing something here?

  • I'm also surprised to hear that anybody in the company thought it was a good idea to sell the "brand" and "the rest of the company" separately. The brand is too young to be valuable, and it's just going to cause untold confusion down the road.

Customers moving to the new company will probably still forget and try to log on to the old domain and leak their credentials.

The brand is kind of pointless without the company - at best they can have another go at it, but the brand will be hard to build further because people will always think "oh, that was sold to someone else".

The only time I think it'd make sense was if the brand was actually closely tied to one specific person and they were going to use it in a completely different industry.

That’s logical, but you forget one aspect, they probably made a few extra k for selling a fucking logo and website design - it’s a steal (for the seller).

    iirc, he owns sys413

Edit: He co-owned sys413 with ellis, and when ellis left/kicked out, he took over his email account - best guess

A well known name-brand host like HostGator or Godaddy is worth 11K or more for the brand alone.

Not too many hosting companies have enough name recognition to make their brands worth much.

Being hard to pronounce, and linked to drama via Google search, I'm not sure why a brand that's existed for 2 years would be sought.

A new pronouncable brand has more value.

I have not thought about marketing just yet because we are still preparing everything ready, We will be working on hiring support & staff team. Once everything is prepared then we will buy the tag.

Well I know your name because we spoke on Discord. It's Jen, no?

And you used to be the one responsible for Kubbur merch. The website says the merch is made in Texas but I assume thats where the print on demand company is based and not where you actually live.
