128GB RAM and 4 TB NVMe. Completely depends what you want out of a server. This answer is hugely subjective.

@darkimmortal said: Yeah really nice drives! What is the motherboard out of interest? Does it come with IPMI?

Motherboard reported as "X9SRH-7F/7TF". Similarly, Geekbench reports it as Supermicro X9SRH-7F/7TF

IPMI is present on the SYS dashboard, I tested and it works perfectly fine.

@Falzo said: nothing to worry about, that thing has a whopping 2.73 PB TBW, so you're not even at a quarter with it yet.

Ah yeah I discovered that after posting. Pretty cool drive there, surprised they opted for proper enterprise gear.

Yeah really nice drives! What is the motherboard out of interest? Does it come with IPMI?

Kimsufi API/interface does not offer IPMI.

This line of conversation is about the SYS-LE-2 which was released the same time as the new KS-LE and thus ended up in the same thread. Sorry for the confusion.

@Astro said: Does it have a gig up? I can trade my French server.

Didn't pay it yet. According to their FAQ, I don't have to if I don't want the server. When I was about to place my order, it got out of stock. Pretty bad timing.

    You only trade your server?

I don't think KS US allows transfers now so I can't even if I wanted to

  • I think the 128gb is 250 mbit right? I'll still take one. Awesome machine for that price.

Yes, it is 250Mbps, refer to my bench.

You may get higher indeed, but keep in mind for bandwidth they can and most likely will revoke it eventually. The KS server I have got limited to 100Mbps on IPv4 despite previously having gigabit on both v4 and v6. Never count on those things as permanent attributes.

Did something trigger them limiting your speed? A ticket perhaps or did it just happen out of the blue at some point?

No ticket, I made no fuss about this server and didn't even use the port very much. It just happened sudddenly one day.

These bandwidth limits are effectively just traffic shaping options on their routers, and OVHs are apparently riddled with mistakes. It makes sense they might fix them occasionally, maybe a whole rack at a time.

The cpu itself blows the d-1520 out of the water

Ah congrats! I'm just happy that both of my disks are less than 1000 hrs each. I guess ya win some and ya lose some.

Mine are older so you’re definitely right that you win some and lose some

Received my SYS-LE-2. Here are the interesting parts:

    Mainboard: X9SRH-7F/7TF + IMPI

    2 brand new NVMe drives

    nvm0n1 (SAMSUNG MZQLB1T9HAJR-00007)

Data Units Read: 25,121,377 [12.8 TB]
Data Units Written: 32,238,960 [16.5 TB]

    nvm1n1 (SAMSUNG MZQLB1T9HAJR-00007)

Data Units Read: 17,279,954 [8.84 TB]
Data Units Written: 16,864,901 [8.63 TB]

Bandwidth: 250/1000 but thats totally fine for my projects.

  • @Astro said: Falzo! You picking one up too?

close to pulling the trigger because I really also prefer that location. also that big NVMe and lots of RAM allow for some nice big VMs on it.

in the lights of Hetzners price hike, this sale will actually move quite some people over, as soon as they start to find out...

yet the 250Mbits are putting me off. if it at least had Gbit on IPv6 as some of the servers use to have, I'd already bought one. maybe I wait a day or two for the first batch to run out. if those go quickly, chances are that the second batch will be more prone to the regular gambling about CPU upgrades and/or switches they are connected to ;-)

Thats exactly why i'm back at OVH. I defended Hetzner long enough. Overall i do not trust Hetzner anymore as of now with all those last minute price changes. For me Hetzner sits next to Online.net rn. Might change in the future but it is what it is rn. Moved all VMs away from them. Canceled all servers. Using OVH/SYS/KS now. (2x KS-LE for Proxmox Backup Server, SYS-LE and some other SYS servers for management and customer purposes and a few OVH machines for our "prime" customers).

Honestly I just got it because I have zero self control and it seemed like good value for money that might run out of stock soon.

If I decide to keep it, VMs. Lots of VMs. This much NVMe and RAM is like VM heaven.

I'm using mine mainly for Gitlab Instances + maybe some Windows VMs which are booted automatically to do some tasks i cannot talk about :)

    Sorry , GRA1

If gigabit isn't something you need, I would be happy to swap servers with you (GRA1, no such luck) and add on an amount of money as well (though I struggle to come up with an appropriate amount). Gigabit is very important to me, even if it only lasts a few months.

Understandable if you would prefer to keep it though, enjoy your gift

Tbh with the bandwidth stuff it likely is more to do with luck of the rack allocation rather than specific timing like with the hardware gambles.

  • I will be Needing the gigabit port even if its temporary and ovh and revert it back.
Will be Moving lots of my less CPU intensive VMs from Hetzner AX101 to This .(Ip prices)
    might be getting 1-2 more.
