Is anyone concerned that (at least with the Debian 10 image) the networking is set up using DHCP? OVH do appear to be filtering port 68, but I'd still rather it wasn't open in the first place.

However, I've tried to change it to static a couple of times, and that always results in an unresponsive machine, so I'll probably give up and leave it as it is, but if someone has had success changing this, I'd be interested to know.

Ubuntu templates all use DHCP for ipv4

    Thanked by 1ralf
  • looks like Server KS-LE are all out of stock now!

  • @dahartigan said:
Change it to static in your interfaces file then chattr +i the interfaces file so it can't be changed. You could disable cloud-init, etc etc but this is the quickest way IMO.

Oops! I thought it was related to using eno1 instead of eth0 as it was my first time using a machine that wasn't set up to use eth0. But no, in fact I'd just made a typo on the GW address. That doesn't explain why it was also failing to route IPv6, but at least I've got it working now.

Correct. Unfortunately we missed them. For those like me debating on weather to get one or wait we missed out! :disappointed:

Something looks wrong with that second line!

I ran YABS again and thats what it is showing up as, even my monitoring software is showing 1596 MHz something not right there

BTW, I tried YABS myself (primarily to check net speeds, I'm also 100MB send /1GB recv on both IPv4 and IPv6) and also saw the same thing. I could see similar values using "grep MHz /proc/cpuinfo" (but 8 different ones), so I guess YABS just picks the first one. When I repeated this while it was running Geekbench 5, I'd get 7 cores at 3700MHz and 1 at 3881MHz, so all seems fine.

I didn't get it in time!
Fuck it, I'll wait for a KS-9 like I've been waiting for months on end.

Still got 2 orders locked in, unpaid.
I could not decided yet, likely I will next week.

    Invoices are Valid until Decembre.
Given that OVH restocks in batches my guess is if I pay next week, instant deployment.

However, I could get fucked too, no idea, gamble is fun.
Should be good as a backup if BF turns out dogshit.

Sure @terrahost will throw in some 10-15€ deals, but quite limited I am afraid.

I did this before, waited a few days then paid only to be waiting 4-5 days and then being told there's no stock to fulfil it after raising a ticket. Got refunded about a week after or so.

Well I would wait 30 days until I would open a ticket.
    Likely some people will cancel.

After 30 days, I would think about opening a ticket.
Before they restock, they will deliver pending orders anyway.

  • I ordered one of these yesterday as a new customer and paid straight away but it still shows as not yet processed. Seems like most people got theirs immediately, anyone else still waiting for theirs?

I've opened a ticket but no response yet.

New Account? If so you need to wait for verification.

Anyone had luck booting rescue mode, am I supposed to get an email with the password? tried with an SSH key, no dice.

Also, is the server status supposed to say anything other than Error? It's the same regardless if booted normally, in rescue mode or during restart.

Already have a ticket open, but I doubt I'll get a reply within my lifetime.
