Wait... it was considered weird and harmful!?

Oh yes, in the early days (late 80’s/early 90’s) it was demonised as sick and depraved. British attitudes towards mature themes have only changed relatively recently (hardcore pornography was only permitted if no penetration was shown at one point), so some of the earlier movies (FotNS, especially Urotsukodji) was decried as harmful perversions.

specially for you and in the name of education - figured i'd share these.
If you've ever wondered just .... why the fuck is jpop so..... jpop, i discovered these guys relatively recently.
Pink Lady were one of the first idol groups that were wildly successful, 13 consecutive platinum singles and 11 consecutive number one hits, only Japanese group ever to make it into the Billboard top 40 ..... not gonna say its particularly good but their influence is seriously unmistakable - was like ohhhhh shit - thats why XD

This is about Candies and Pink Lady - the first big idol groups.

I remember hearing that somewhere, I just can't remember where...

(I'm thinking it's from the same place where chaos is a ladder came from, but I'm guessing not because we have anime connoisseurs here)

  • looking back at what i posted ... oh dear.

I genuinely fear the darkness that’s inside you. If you weren’t drinking all weekend, I recommend a few days of nothing but Girls Generation to lighten things a touch.

  • all saved up for new years resolution and plan.

It really is pretty widespread now, at least in the West. Growing up, my entire anime selection was one shelf in the local VHS store with an occasional ‘event’ showing of Akira at a fancy cinema in London, but since then we’re at a point where it’s a culturally appreciated medium and no longer considered something weird and harmful. We even have showings of major anime movies at the cinema now, I think the latest My Hero Academia is currently airing and the Demon Slayer movie had quite a few showings earlier in the year. Even manga has quite a foothold, there was a major exhibition on at the British museum back in 2019, which is really significant.

My Hero Academia and Demon Slayer have become quite massive and the only reason I say that is because their latest movies were played in theaters here in Norway (and other Nordic countries) while they were also playing in the US (at least for the MHA one).

I don't know if the Nordics somehow has a large percentage of weebs anime fans compared to the population, but I still see it as a sign that it's becoming more popular and "normal".

Demon Slayer had English subtitles for a few showings here from what I remember, but I'm not sure they had localized subtitles for that (I wasn't able to watch it in theaters sadly). I did watch the latest MHA movie with Norwegian subtitles, which was a pleasant surprise.

@Nekki would you be interested in storage hosting, but instead of having a full VPS, you are granted access to DA account? Is VPS a must? asking for a friend. Feel free to be a savage in your response.

It's been such a long time since I last played a romance VN...

The first VN I played is "Kara no Shoujo", it has some brutal shit in it so it may not be for everyone. But the detective game play is fun.

Kara no shoujo, I know it, and it is not my taste. As you may see, I mostly play romance VN, with love, love, and full of love!

That's nice... I think it's not actually that popular in the eastern parts of the world (of course excluding some Asian countries such as Japan).
I think I'm the only weeb in my social circle. Nobody seemed to understand what I was talking about when I was spreading the culture in my uni class. Imagine the pain...

I also think in the west it is not popular.
Maybe weebs are all staying in their home, rather than go outside.

  • @OBHost PLEASE DO NOT SET DEFAULT SSH PASSWORD TO "password"!

I know it's my responsibility to keep server secure but please use some random string as default password. My server got hacked even before I configure some secure measures.

    LOL

In that case I'd definitely install from ISO rather than using an image. Even with generated passwords, I don't trust it (hard to tell if they're using the same "random" password for every VPS).
