I have refunded at least $608.5 USD in last 72 hours.
Paid fees out of my pocket.

Part of that might have been due to the deal process you had though...

I didn't even bother trying to snag the last one, as I realised it was "first to deploy" who'd win, and with no credit on the account, I knew I'd not be able to deploy. I considered adding credit just in case but with only 1 deal each time, the odds of winning were so slight it wasn't worth the hassle to me of locking myself into buying credit until I actually know I wanted to buy a host from you in the future. Which, to be fair, I might, but at a point if I need to expand capacity quickly.

If other people were aware they could just add credit and then request a refund, I can certainly see why they might do that, particularly if they were unaware / unconcerned about the cost of the fees on you.

Anyway, thanks for your deals, and congrats to the lucky ones who got it!

They cost about 50$ each just to acquire these days. So that's quickly 1+$/Month, depending on the providers target ROI / maths.

I'm actually surprised there aren't more IPv6-only or NAT-only VPS options out there with a corresponding discount in that case. And you have providers like Racknerd who seem reluctant to even offer IPv6 in most locations but will hand out IPv4 addresses like candy.

Thank you @FAT32 for your excellent service to this forum! And as always, @Nekki for superb entertainment. Sorry we couldn't do really bankrupt deals this year. :) There's always next time.

Aaargh, my bad! I mixed you up with one of the other deals! Apologies, I'm still not awake enough yet, I just remember getting e-mails from Hostcram after signing up and trying your flash deals a couple of times...

  • @FAT32 said: Anyone have any tricks (without coffee) that can make you feel more awake?

Use anime wallpapers! Nothing can make me feel more "awake" than my waifus.

One time the whole class almost saw it too when I was giving a presentation...

fat32 do you get paid for this? It's a lot of work and would have brought in a lot of ad impressions for LET.

Nope, this is also to ensure I am not bias towards any providers, I did put this in the disclaimer on first page:

I am working on this on a voluntary basis and is not being paid by LEB/LET to endorse any of the brands listed here, and is not liable for any losses or damages directly or indirectly caused by this Flash Sale event

I meant paid by whoever runs LET these days (@jbiloh?), not by the providers. Like a percentage of the ad revenue during this period, or something like that.

Absolutely. It's top-class all-inclusive event management. This should be properly valued, and the time and effort of @FAT32 should be remunerated.

Not sure why they did that. Your VPS is amazing, I really like it, the CPU is very strong.

You may apply "no refund" policy for the deals here like other providers except the special case.

  • Another enjoyable sleepless BF/CM weekend.

Well done @FAT32 & @Nikki for giving me these unflattering dark bags - it was well worth the ride :)

    Thanked by 2FAT32 vr10
  • @FAT32 said: Nope, I am not paid by anyone to organise this event, nor to maintain LET.

How can someone be this motivated without any sort of compensation?
Perhaps that's something mere mortals like me can never grasp...

Adding IP is very expensive, NAT server makes me uncomfortable

Unfortunatelly we rent IP subclasses from our romanian partners and they ask for 1.20 eur per IP monthly.
As soon we'll get our own /24 network, we'll come will better offers.
    Best regards, Florin.

Hey @FlorinMarian, are we allowed to use the 160GB NAT VPS as a seedbox? What are your policies around torrenting in the VPS?

    Hello!
You can use it as seedbox but keep in ming you have 1Gbps shared connection only 5TB/month, then speed will be reduced till next month.
    Best regards, Florin.

Why you will pay? Before you pay there should be detailed invoice and "confirm" button, it won't create so much crappy thing if people don't blindly click that.

  • For those looking for EU deals, Virmach has one now:

Worst are those who "reserve" a spot, by ordering but not paying. In the hopes they can resell it.

It takes the spot from someone else, with seemingly no intention what-so-ever to pay it unless they can turn and make a profit from it.

You could set up auto cancelation, like invoice not paid within 20 mins will be cancelled. I think that will be effective.

Afaik WHMCS does not support that, i could be wrong tho, it's like 12 years since i installed and went through all the configs last time around so might need a refresher :)

Just done manual check so far

@mycosys said: Not going to achieve much changing a system if you arent part of it?

also always good to enjoy the fruits of the system you are criticizing ;)

Always good to accept the system uncritically and make no attempt to improve it ;)

@mycosys said: Also i kinda feel the current IP regime is counter to creativity and our wellbeing as a civilisation, so promoting non-heirachical sharing to me seems to do far more good than the mining could harm.

Intellectual property vs. Services & Goods is whole different thing. You do realize that everything would be free, there would nothing to get free for? Ideas and information is infinitively copyable at marginal cost, houses, cars and roads are not. Neither is human time and effort.

it wouldnt hurt to google labor based economics :)

You really are an commie? At least you use far leftist ideology and argument tactics.

"Always good to accept the system uncritically and make no attempt to improve it ;)"
This is an clear attack on person, trying to evade the actual argumentation. Trying to impress like the other person has this certain stance which any sane person would say is bad, thus this argues to your own point.

I will not spend time having this kind of argument with a person who uses these kinds of tactics, and clearly is not interested in broader world view, nor analytically thinking about the subject without emotional bias.

it wouldnt hurt to google labor based economics :)

Whatever you are trying to say it, say it. Don't beat around the bushes and try to denial of service the other party.

Human time & effort is always valuable, and you just proved that point by trying to DOS me into spending next several hours into research of that subject and trying to figure out the context you intended.

I will leave you with a few random articles just in case i am wrong and You actually want to broaden your world view:

Just something you can find within seconds to broaden your view and think about the other side.

I can guarantee that under communistic regime like USSR or North Korea our service would not even exist. Under socialistic regime like venezuela, our service would not exist neither. Our service is purely because we operate from a society which is still open to capitalism, albeit socialism over here is making things stupid difficult

Truly i am puzzled that a apparently hardcore communist spends time on extreme capitalistic forum, benefitting from capitalism. I guess that's a common thread amongst communists. It seems very often they just want everything, they want benefits of capitalism while not having to work, yet live in luxury. That, or you are just a troll.

Regardless, i will end this here, as nothing good will come out of this only waste of time.

Just sounds like a bunch of people were probably trying their luck, happily clicking, missing the coupon, knew it wasn't the discounted/promotional price but still paid for it, presumably to "secure" the order then maybe try to work out something out later with the provider :)

Which, to be fair, I might, but at a point if I need to expand capacity quickly.

You didn't have to add credits as there are usually payment options which generate the invoice before you pay. (Generating the invoice would lock in your coupon/price) You probably only had to avoid paying by card and you would have been fine. One of the exceptions was cloudcone where they have their own inhouse panel and you probably had to add funds in advance to stand a chance.

IPv6 is broken from get-go, and will also be exhausted eventually as addresses are being used like they would be infinite. I am sure IPv4 address space looked infinite at first as well.

IPv6 will be useful when 100% of devices connected to internet supports it. However, 100% will never happen.
