The reason is that you have a huge order with a bunch of VMs - we've processed (almost) all the simpler ones. You will hear back from someone tomorrow most likely :)

ahaha, prem order 120+ VMs across the globe, framed golden please :D

    @Unixfy congrats on your purchase!

  • Friendly reminder that providers can choose not to serve you. If you got a refund and a refusal of service, then please move on and spare us the drama. Since you got your money back, you're not entitled to anything.

If you failed to read the terms and are now stuck with account credit, then learn to read terms before purchasing in the future. It's not that complicated.

    Gotcha, thanks for clarifying :)

  • @hosthatch said: Support is not replying to my issue as fast as I would like (please take a moment to realize what you have ordered, at what price, in what location, and if waiting a couple days for your non-emergency request is justified)

As someone who complained about your support, I'd like to chime in and say that the support feels a lot better than last year. Congrats for that.

However, you are correct that support is still not replying to my issue as fast as I would like. It's not that I feel entitled to that. It's what you said in this thread:

@hosthatch said: To really fix this and MOSGA (make our support great again), like it was years ago and when I was doing the end-user support, we decided that we will be removing the L1 queue completely, and we will be hiring (and have hired) DevOps/Sysadmins in a 24hr rotation to cover all requests, basic to the most complex ones.

@hosthatch said: since we have someone always covering the shift 24 hours around the clock

Since you mentioned that in this thread, I was under the impression that I, someone from the peanut gallery, could also enjoy the benefit of your 24hrs support coverage. Apparently that was mistaken. Given the price, I agree that low priority support is acceptable. I wouldn't have complained had you not mentioned your 24x7 support here.

I'm happy to hear the support feels much better to you than before.

  • When I first saw this posted with the “open a ticket and hope it’s still in stock” ordering method, I thought to myself how it would probably become an entertaining thread... it has surpassed my expectations 😂

@hosthatch I had some small (low priority) pieces of feedback about your control panel, but wasn't sure of the appropriate way to send them through (email, PM, ticket, comment, etc), so here they are:

    1. When I click the "start" button for a VPS, I need to refresh the page to see the "running" status and connect to VNC. It would be nice for the page to update automatically, eg using WebSockets or Server-Sent Events, or even just polling (BuyVM's custom control panel just polls for the running status of the VPS every 5 seconds, which seems like a fine approach).

    2. Show logs for when the server was booted and shut down, and any errors when booting. Sometimes when I try to start my VPS, it doesn't start properly, but on the second attempt it works fine. Would be good to have an error log to see if I was doing something wrong.

    3. Automatically assign IPv6 upon provisioning, or allow adding it through the control pane;. I know you have a lot of tickets at the moment so I felt bad opening a ticket to add IPv6 to my VPS (even after prefixing it with "[Low Priority]")

    4. "Reconfigure Networking" uses eth0 as the device name, but on newer OSes (like Debian 10) the device name is actually ens3 by default, so it actually results in a broken networking config and I have to VNC in to fix it (and it's quite painful entering my server passwords over VNC as they're long and randomly generated, unique for each server). You're probably inheriting this brokenness from SolusVM though, I guess.

    5. Under the "Bandwidth" tab, show a traffic graph. SolusVM has this so you might be able to use its API (or at least the same data source)? I can just run vnstat or netdata myself so this is super low priority.

    6. I was trying to add an IPv6 address ending in ::1, but it kept showing a generic "Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes." error message. I was going to open a ticket, but ::2 worked fine. Maybe this could have a better error message?

  • After a week of communication, Gen H still didn’t understand what I meant, but thanked him for finally restoring the order he cancelled by mistake.Thank you for providing such great products. <3

  • I think @hosthatch @cdrive just added Debian 10 and Ubuntu 20 LTS images. But now, for some reason, I am unable to re-install OS on any of my VMs. Any idea when can we reliably use the installer and try the new images?

Same, tried multiple times, but the template reinstall doesn't work. Also, mounting ISO and rebooting by setting the boot priority doesn't seems to respect the settings.

Try totally shut down, then change the boot order and mount the ISO, then start the VPS again. Seems like the boot order is a bit touchy and doesn't always work properly.

Now the issue is that I can't mount the ISO, tried mounting after shutdown, reboot, after poweron, it just says no bootable device.

Yesterday I sucessfully upload, mount & install ubuntu 20.04 and debian 10 netinst iso..

Don't forget to change boot order and start/stop the server.

ahh, I completely stopped, changed boot order and mounted the ISO before power on. Is this sequence correct or do I need to do differently.

Mine: mount iso, change boot order, then stop & start the vps, then enter console..

  • all standard OS templates (selection via the VPS control panel) should be fixed by now. give it a try (if your storage is less than 2TB, and if it's more than 2TB - kindly reinstall with Ubuntu template). if you're still having issue, do raise a ticket.

just a heads up: reinstalling using the Ubuntu 20.04 template will always result in the main partition having size 4.4GB. (just tried it on my 3 VMs, 2 of them storage boxes, and this was the end result for all of them.)

    $ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    udev 967M 0 967M 0% /dev
    tmpfs 199M 564K 199M 1% /run
    /dev/vda1 4,4G 1,9G 2,4G 44% /
    tmpfs 994M 0 994M 0% /dev/shm
    tmpfs 5,0M 0 5,0M 0% /run/lock
    tmpfs 994M 0 994M 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
    tmpfs 199M 0 199M 0% /run/user/1000

are we able to resize the partition by booting from a live CD or is this a small bug and we should open a ticket?

and, while we are on the subject of small bugs, I think you should add a comma right before "however", in the reinstallation message. it drives me crazy :D

You have initiated a reinstallation of this server. It may take a few minutes. Your new root password however, is: XXXXXXXXXXXXX>

@sportingdan may resize it by booting up Gparted Live CD and you can resize however you need based on the partition within the interface. Do raise a ticket if you encounter issue. this is not the support channel, thus - any further communication will be via ticket.

all - anymore simple orders that require immediate review of processing? (assuming you've not received response). again, SIMPLE instructions - provide me both email id and ticket id for verification.

any ABCDEFGXYZ questions in regards to upgrades/downgrades/additional specs/ etc will be reviewed on case-to-case basis, THEREFORE, do expect delay in response of your ticket. we don't want to be clouded with drama in here, while reviewing of your case. thank you.

  • @hosthatch if not given above already, can you give us a global update on current status of 1.first opening ad, 2. flash deals specifically 3/10 locations, 3. 10TB storage and the expectation. MANY THANKS. Omit if too much nuisance and we can wait.

I was able to resize directly inside the live Ubuntu 20.04 VM using the command:

    sudo resize2fs /dev/vda1

No reboot, mounting of ISO's, etc... needed.

I assume this also apply to stacked / combined deals order. So, I should wait more longer, since I request stacked deals.

Its okay, should be worth waiting. thanks for clarifying @cdrive 😊

  • 6th day of waiting game...

  • I have never purchased hosthatch, this is the first time I purchased
VPS hasn't opened yet, I won't complain about waiting
my English is not very good
I heard that can open two VPS
    Then build an intranet
Does Black Friday still have a residual $40 or $22 vps?
    Can it be purchase?
