    I took a look at the IPv6 problem I'm having in Singapore again today. I'm able to get the new IPv6 working by adding it to a startup script.

    /etc/local.d/ipv6.start
    ifconfig eth0 add {ipv6/64}

    I can manually delete the old (non-functional) IPv6, but it comes back by itself after a few minutes. I think it's still receiving an RA with the old prefix.

    Yea I checked the backend, must be a bug in LXD.
    I have a deeper look, into it.

    If you really really need the new IPv6 allocation, the only working option would be re-deploy.

    Whenever you open a ticket and you say that something is broken.
    Then tell the fully story, instead of just posting my vps is broken.

    I had to troubleshoot it for you, because you didn't tell me what you did before.
    If you would had tell me, that you reinstalled the VPS and it FAILED, It would be much easier for me.

    Please next time, tell the full story.
    I deleted your VPS, you can create a new one.

    The bug is fixed thought, for some reason the image lost its alias.

    I tried to reconfigure the network again, but no change.

    Refresh you lease or reboot your container, just tested, works fine.

  • I refreshed the lease, rebooted, deleted the old prefix, rebooted, reconfigured networking again, rebooted again. It still gets the old prefix.

    I checked again, its updated.
    If you still don't see it, I suggest a reinstall or re-deploy.

    Thanks. I can still use a startup script to add the prefix manually.

    /etc/local.d/ipv6.start
    ifconfig eth0 add {ipv6/64}

    Even though it continues to get the old non-functional prefix, too, the new prefix works once manually added like that.

    Thanks for your service BTW, I promise to comply privacy and policy

  • Somewhere along the way, the new IPv6 prefix started working in Singapore for me; I just checked again today after rebooting.

    The new address is not the one displayed in the dashboard or in the network tab, but it works. The working address is similar to the old one, but in the new prefix. I might have missed it before.

    As said before, the change was already applied.
    The only thing it might be, was the DHCP lease, the old one was still valid, so it ran the old one until it expired and then handed you out a new IPv6 from the new block.

    Which is shit, it should not be this way, I expected the DHCP to not do that.

    You get one IPv6 address allocated based on your mac address, hence they are similar.
    The network tab should always, reflect your current IPv6 block, however the IPv6, as said before, gets allocated based on your mac address, which I can't influence.

    The panel grabs this data from LXD which is only updated on deployment or reinstall.

    The Node won't be down for the entire window, but expect interruptions.

    Is IPv6 working on the Valdivia node? I tried traceroute to cloudflare and there is no route after the gateway, can't reach the pod from other VPS using IPv6 too.

    Nothing I can do there either, I can create a ticket and report the broken IPv6 in, however likely he just closes it.
    I could not really find a decent sponsor in South America yet.

    Regarding Valdivia, it's odd. From outside, I can ping it and connect to it over ipv6. But ipv6 connections initiated from the vps itself go nowhere.

    I've also noticed out of all of them, it's really slow to update. I leave the apk update sit for 30 minutes or an hour to get it to finish.

    Not a complaint, just an observation.
