Well, I did google for 2 min, I found way better offers for a few bucks more.
However I was not able to find a cheaper offer within 2 minutes.
So if you need a dedi in manchester, its still shitty value for the 84$.
If you do not need a dedi in Manchester, there are well cheaper options.
I think we, as a community, need to evolve, move forward. What's wrong with a few trials to see how things can be improved?
At the end of the trial we can re-assess. If it worked, great. If it didn't, we'll learn some lessons and try something else.

I doubt higher price ceilings will bring any higher margins to the hosts. They decide for themselves what margins they will accept, make offers accordingly, and the LET cheapskates see if it suits them. Higher ceiling just means we'll get some higher resource servers on offer, and maybe a few more in exotic locations. Well, we'll see how it goes.

i have 2 dedis at low end prices and a bunch of vps at low or close to low end prices
not one of them do i use as a primary producton server
they are fine as backups and hobby boxes
all my production boxes cost well over the proposed $84 limit
i would never call the space between 49 and 84 medium end but it is more expensive for hobby stuff...
there is merit in lifting the price and having healthier providers but lifting the price does reduce this places point of difference...

Lowend are atoms and slow dual-cores. 256MB RAM VPS. Market has changed as well people minds. In the past servers were super expensive. They are nowadays very affordable. Lowend adapts/keeps up with the evolution.
