I saw the deal and I bought it. Now I don't know what to do with it. Still in idle state. Should I let it expire ?

Was a 1 day flash sale, so yeah, they're gone until the next promo.

So, apparently a snapshot with the Size of 13GB needs about 10 minutes to be transfered from BHS to GRA.

But when I restore it, it takes over 1 fucking hour 13GB?!

    Bloody HELL.

Based on previous experience (flash sales): these will not be restocked. You'll need to wait for another flash sale.

If anyone wants this server I am willing to transfer it. Yes, Kimsufi server can be transferred, all you have to do is : to have a Kimsufi account under the same region.

Server is i3-2130 BHS, CD for $10.82 USD+ setup fee.

    http://docs.ovh.ca/en/faqs-account-and-billing.html#transferring-your-server-to-a-different-account

I've posted my server benchmark in this thread so you can check, just pm me if anyone need it.

Disregard the I/O speeds. I did this in their rescue mode which I think is run on a flash drive or some other external device. Hence why it also says it is a 4GB disk. . What's particularly impressive is that there isn't a single test below 5MB/s save for Singapore, SG near the end.

EDIT: Re-ran the test inside the OS. There you go. BHS and not a single test under 50mbit.

EDIT: I inquired to Kimsufi what the issue was. They did an update to routers and switches to optimize bandwidth usage. This means anyone sharing a rack with me should see the improved speeds. ;) @Setsura can you check your speed again on the slow server?

Yes u get the setup back they take so much off for any days used. I got 16.99 cost me 19.00

  • @Setsura Shouldn't have to but maybe it is needed. Since they said they did it at a router I was hoping others would get a benefit. At least at the same rack as us.

Not any better after a reboot or anything else I tried, figured renegotiating the link might do something if they really did make changes on their network end. Dunno, shame I basically wasted the setup fee + cost of one server because of something on their end.

  • You did 1. I did 3. I ended up having to give results comparing 2 servers to get them to fix the bad server.

  • If it goes well for you I might try it and roll my luck too. I've never known OVH to actually do much of anything though so I'm somewhat surprised @shinji257 got them to actually do anything.

  • Bought it last night. Wishing for the best.

  • @shinji257 did they ask you to do a few tests in rescue mode?

  • Yes they did. Please do them. They at least revealed an issue before I sent them the bench.sh results.

I seem to have a way with tech support. Maybe it has something to do with knowing what they go through.

  • @shinjin267 - can you have the person you worked with look at ticket 0238706216 ? they seem to think that the server is within specs when it clearly is not. I have provided screenshots of the bench.sh of 2 good servers and the bad one

looks like 1 month only (well if unless you paid up for x months. )

this topic was about 2 servers recurring about a week ago (flash sale)

  • @setsura , good luck - they are being stubborn about looking into my issue.

@Grumpeh Can you provide the rack location of your server

Also, please Server ID and Main IP if you can. If you want to you can PM those details rather than responding with it here.
