  • I had Kimsufi account on Ireland site but for KS-3C I had to create new account to order it. I thought same account would work on all kimsufi website ?

    kimsufi.ie; kimsufi.fr; kimsufi.com/en use a same account; kimsufi.com/us is a separate system.

Mine got deployed today. Installing Ubuntu 17.10 right now and I'll do a bench with bench.sh and unixbench once done.

Update 1: For the curious. If you do not get a prompt to use a distribution kernel then that means they are probably already doing so. Installing 17.10 net the distro kernel and not OVH's custom kernel.

Note: Due to a cosmetic bug it wouldn't normally give IPv4 addresses for servers tested during the first half. This is due to Ubuntu now using a unified ping command (ping6 is just a symlink now). I went on the author's blog and posted a message advising. In the meantime you can disregard it. My OCD kicked in a little though and I had to fix it so that's what you are seeing. I didn't change anything else about the script.

Is the Canada site offer only valid for those who live in Canada only? Surely I can fake my address and contact info, but it's frustrating to have to do that to order something.

I could create an account at kimsufi.com/us

  • Got mine too, i3-2130. Oh well, got what I paid for hehe.

Just a little bit of luck there. ;)

  • Also got the i3-3240.
    My previous 3C at BHS (12,59 USD/month) was a i3-2130.

Does the 3C flas sale already include the DDOS price increase (December) ? I thought all current OVH prices already included this increase ?

  • NeoonNeoon Community Contributor, Veteran

New orders should already include AntiDDOS.

Which would make the new flash deal really a nice one ...

Yes you need a separate account for the US system

  • well, 10.73€ is a nice deal, will replace my KS2E which was 9.50€ (both VAT incl.)

i don't really like the BHS location from EU with >100ms ping but well.

which cpu you get doesn't really matter, they are close together https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=765&cmp[]=755

  • Looks like I got myself one of those dreaded BHS-godforsaken-network Kimsufis...

Maybe you got mine from the last sale :)

  • Eh... I don't think that was the case. Look at my speed tests. They are pretty similar.

I got 6 (KS-4C kimsufis) at BHS, and 2 of them had serious network speed problems. I let go these 2. I think it's a gamble, but they are not able (or willing) to solve this problem.
EDIT: the ks-3C kimsufi that shinji257 got has the network problem, unfortunately...

Heh... I thought so. I've opened a ticket and I'll take a gamble there too. Unfortunately, I can't get another one as they are sold out on the promo (afaik). Well it looks like they got some stock back.

EDIT: Just curious. Is this network speed issue subnet specific?

EDIT 2: I just ordered 3 more servers just to see. They are all on 142.x.x.x subnet where the first one was on 192.x.x.x subnet. The first of the 3 I'm testing is showing much more promising results. I'll post them once I'm done and see what you think.

Try getting a proper benchmark and not one that only tests USA and 3rd world.

To be fair, that spec covers pretty much anything that matters.

There are problems with select machines in BHS, I bought 2 of the KS-3C's on the old promo and one was fine and one had issues. And Kimsufi support is useless so good luck getting a resolution, I just canceled my bad one after weeks of no response.

Looks like the KS-3Cs (9.02 Euro plus setup fee) have been re-stocked.

Great! I can buy more and let them idle.
