Time to notify @luis123456 If he has not already seen this..
Why? :P
im on node2.... Tried to install a custom LAMP stack script and took 4 hours and still running!!! @_@
reinstalled Centos and went the conventional method of rpm -Uvh of LAMP instead.
Node4 doesn't seem to be completely dead at the moment.
@LegendlinkLegendlink ur lucky
Just got some sick results from the LEB Bench script but doesnt match up with the dd test we use.
CPU model : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz
Number of cores : 2
CPU frequency : 424.030 MHz
Total amount of ram : 128 MB

Edit; by sick, i meant the I/O. 101MB is quite a high number to hit when it's a free VPS. I'm going to run some stuff on it, see how i find it :]
Enjoy the free veepz.
So... I guess node10 is where it's at, then?
it fair as free vps
Anyone else on Node8? I am and got these good results:
[root@vps ~]# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync

16384+0 records out

It also appears Node8 Has an Intel Core i7.

not bad for a free vm.
Now what should we all do with our free VPS? :-)
I wasn't even able to finish the LEB script
Edit: Why do people not on node 2 have a higher cpu clock?:(
I'm on node 2 and I got low cpu clock... and it seems they have terminated the abusers, look at ths new bench:
Are the abusers all the LET'ers who can't stop running benchmark tests with dd? ;-)
may be
I'm on node8:

Mine on node2 is offline, won't boot, and won't reinstall. I wonder what's up.
Anyone know how to fix the server time on the VPS? I've been able to change the timezone, but the clock is still off by about 5 mins, so I cant get google authenticator working
You can't set the time on OpenVZ, it has to be fixed on the host node.
I suppose as non-paying customers we cant moan about this either?
shrug it affects all customers on the node, including any who are paying customers (if you're lumped together). IMO: present it as "hey, just wanted to let you know the time seems to be off by about 5 minutes, is there any way you could get it synced up?"
If they won't even sync the time (either manually/one-time or (hopefully) via ntp) then... wow.
Yeah, same with mine. shakes fist
you can, but without time-based auth
my vps on node2 is often unreachable via web server, ssh seems always to work but hangs continously , total BS for now
I do not have a free vps with these guys, nor do I plan to right now. (Do not have a need)
On occasion though when I have looked into some free services, you have to make sure their TOS and such do not include the ability to sell the personal information you provide them for the free service to other marketing groups. In the past I have found that even a few places I have paid for have found it within their rights to sell my phone number and e-mail to companies either advertising or providing fraudulent phone spam services. Weather this was legal or not, who knows, probably not, but it still happens. Especially when its with someone who has no monetary interest in you, meaning you are not paying them. For the groups that decide to sell your stuff, they see it as a trade, you get free services... they get a working phone number to market to.
That being said, I have NOT done the research in this case, these guys could have nothing to gain but advertising their own product, but I still like to point this out for people to be cautious. Just remember, if your not even paying for a service, a company has less interest in what happens to your personal info... and hey they gotta find a way to pay bills too.. so you never know. If you get some random phone spam though, now at least you'll have an idea of why it is happening.
Actually they don't require any more information than an e-mail address. I personally wouldn't have signed up if they required a bunch of personal information (since I really don't need such a server). It seems they just want to get you into their cloud platform.
Good news, as I said, was just a generic warning...
If the world was perfect, no free provider would ever do that... my point being though... it still does on occasion so its always a good idea to go into something "Free" with your eyes open.
Cheers!
looks like my vps on node2 just crashed for no apparent reason. It's still down.
