Get the i3, you could host off that.
It doesn't. Support for hardware incidents does not take weeks. You can not judge it by the "validation" support experience what-so-ever.
@webcraft That said, I wonder WTF are you trying to switch the thread about Kimsufi servers into a "help me choose a cPanel host" thread. Make a new one and ask there.
RAID mirrors data across two disks which allows service to continue until the faulty disk is replaced and also protects from data loss. You shouldn't be hosting if you don't know these basics.
You won't find a server with RAID for 15EUR.
Edit: I know about raid but the project to host on it is experimental. Uptime, etc. isn't important. Speed and such are vital.
All right. back2topic
But for 20 EUR you can get an i3 from oneprovider including taxes in France (online), so it's not much more

Thanks.
Looks like this could probably fit. Anyway 20€/m is quite a lot for a npo.
Edit: online.net seems to be quite competitive, too.
It's just the question with raid or not raid..
I do not like the EUR datecenter.I prefer American.
Although it said D425 in order form, my invoice it was mentioned as N2800 and that is what was delivered.
does anyone knows what processor is offered for the i5?
It says on the page
KS-4
France:
Core™ i5-2400 - 5808
Canada:
Core™ i5-3570S - 6758
I can second this, just because their validation support sucks, doesn't mean their hardware support sucks.
My disk failed and for me it was replaced within the hour. I was quite surprised.
Some customers do wait weeks for HDD replacements, just go and have a read of the Kimsufi forums. Granted, the vast majority of HDD failures will be picked up by the automated monitoring system. However sometimes that isn't the case and it can take weeks to grab the attention of the team on the forums.
But you can get 2 (or 3) kimsufi's and do network-based RAID1 with drdb. Also protects you against other hardware failures unlike a local RAID.
Just don't try it between DCs, it sucks.
I got my FirstHebeg atom with RAID1 for 6.5EUR for 1 year, so if you need a RAID with limited budget, I think they are a choice. As I remember, the i3 with 2x1TB after promotion is 14EUR if you need a better CPU.
Nevertheless with a bad uplink.
Or use something like BTSync to sync between multiple devices.
I have 2 kimsufi KS-2's and for "raid" I just BTSync both of them together. I really like BTSync, it's saved me a few times.
I have a KS-1 in RBX and anothr KS-1 in BHS. RBX is my main box and BHS just mirrors all of the files on the box at RBX using BTSync.
I prefer the BHS location due to it's closer to me and generally the quality of what they provider is better.
RBX is closer for me, I'm in the UK. Also my Kimsufi in RBX is an N2800 whilst my Kimsufi in BHS is a D425 so makes sense to use the RBX box for the more intensive stuff.
Yeah it does. I mostly use mine for screwing around. For all my serious stuff I use a OVH enterprise box.
just got a server in less than 5 mins. no verify necessary, and i got a i7 950 instead of 920
got a ks1 with a n2800 in rbx this morning. delivery time was about 10 mins. seems like theres still a chance to get n2800s with a little bit of luck

btw: i wrote my own script to track the availabilities, hit upon the script from this thread today. is there any difference between the two apis?
https://ws.ovh.com/dedicated/r2/ws.dispatcher/getAvailability
https://ws.ovh.com/dedicated/r2/ws.dispatcher/getAvailability2
i used the first one in my script
I am so jealous
any other RBX experiences lately?
Yes, indeed.
My patched version of http://pastebin.com/z5HpbAAw alerted me at 10:25 GMT today and by 10:39 I actually managed to get through the ordering process (the website kept failing with an error after the order confirmation form).
I paid with PayPal immediately, they acknowledged the payment at 12:08 and set up the server at 17:08 (so much for the 120-second setup…).
The server's in their RBX DC and apparently I got one with a N2800.
I'm still waiting the ks-1 in BHS

could you post your script?
Ks2 Atom™ N2800 availabe now on the kimsufi website
Yep they switched the KS2 to N2800. So eventually even OVH starts to make sense.
Also they have split the KS5 into KS5A and KS5B with different CPUs.
What I don't get is... it shows "2x E5504" for the KS5B. And then lists it as "4c / 4t".
But according to Intel's website http://ark.intel.com/products/40711/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5504-4M-Cache-2_00-GHz-4_80-GTs-Intel-QPI
even a single E5504 is already 4 cores 4 threads! So do we get two of these (and then it should be "8c / 8t"), or what.
