DataPasa Is Scam - Avoid

IIMKIIVGIIMKIIVG Member

Hello, Just sharing my horrible feedback.

When I signed up, no questions were asked. However, as soon as I deposited $30, a form suddenly appeared asking for a bunch of personal information. I filled it out, but the whole experience left me feeling uncomfortable.

My main concern was that they could suspend or terminate my VPS at any time using the same lame excuses that crypto exchanges use these days: "AML, AML, AML!" LOL.

And that's not even the worst part.

The guy claims to be a Hetzner reseller and even provides a Hetzner test IP. However, after purchasing the server, I received a cheap, blacklisted IP with heavy packet loss and terrible ping.

After dealing with all these issues, I decided to delete the server and request a refund.

And guess what? My refund request was rejected!

To make matters worse, they aren't even responding to my support ticket anymore.

I paid $30 expecting a reliable VPS, but all I got was a terrible experience, questionable service, and nonexistent customer support.

AVOID THESE SCAMMERS!

@datapasa if KYC or AML is huge concern for you then ask for KYC when signing up, Not after deposit. Idiot!

A Huge Lesson For Me, Always buy from well-established and reputable hosting providers like Hetzner, OVH, etc. They might charge a little more, but at least you know what you're paying for, and they actually deliver the service they promise!

I hope staff or administrators will take strict action against him.

    Hi @IIMKIIVG,

Sorry the experience was frustrating. Some context for anyone reading this thread:

The verification request and the refund decision were not arbitrary. They were the result of a combination of factors on this specific order: the account was registered with a disposable email address, a card payment was declined and flagged by Stripe Radar, and the refund was requested to a third-party wallet instead of the original payment method. None of these alone would lead to this outcome, but together they match the patterns our risk checks are designed to catch, which is why the order went to manual review.

That said, we take the feedback seriously and will review our terms and how this case was handled.

Please send me a DM here on LET with the email address of your account so we can locate it and continue from there.

    @IIMKIIVG

The crypto deposit itself is not in question. Before that deposit, our billing anti-fraud system logged a card payment attempt on the same account through Stripe, which was declined and flagged by Stripe Radar. The crypto payment came after that, so the order was evaluated with the full account history, not just the final payment method.

But you asked it to be sent to a different wallet. This is not how most providers work.
Also you should read their ToS, many times there are no refunds for crypto payments.

LOL How can I claim refund on trc20 when there was no option to get refund on trc20 wallet? I paid with trc20 and tried to get refund on erc20 because there was no option to get trc20 refund.

    @IIMKIIVG

Understood. In that case it may have been a false positive on our side. Our anti-fraud links signals not only by account but also by IP address, so if you were connected through a VPN or another shared IP, a declined card attempt made by someone else from the same address could have been associated with your order.

  • datapasadatapasa Member, Patron Provider

Some additional context for anyone reading, since this is not specific to this case.

As a small provider, we get a constant stream of carders trying to run stolen cards through our Stripe checkout. Every fraudulent payment that gets through ends up as a chargeback: the full amount is reversed and Stripe charges us a $15 dispute fee on top, plus the cost of the resources already used. Too many of these and the payment account itself is at risk.

Because of that, our anti-fraud rules are stricter than we would like, and occasionally they catch legitimate customers too. That is not the intent, and when it happens we prefer to resolve it individually rather than loosen the rules for everyone. That is also why verification is triggered by risk signals at payment time instead of being required from every customer at signup.

Apparently you fell victim to two problems: a crisis in trust and laziness.

To some providers it goes like this

    1) Everyone is a suspect

    2) Too lazy to investigate properly

    3) Outsource responsibilities to some other lazy bastard who promises a treat but serves shit cake

Anyone hating on OP your a clown. i've had countless real card attempts fail and as an advocate of crypt it's my first backup or even go to if accepted that's not concern that's adjustment to your bad systems (Applies to stripes BS anti fraud too)

Penguin why keep typing clearly not a crypto user @forest weigh in here, is it weird to request refund to a different address. OP even clarified TRC20 was not refundable and asked for ERC20 what's wrong with that lmfao.

Crypto isn't like your bank card, even some non-custodial wallets force a unique deriviision of your key that cannot be validated for basic privacy THE WHOLE FKIN PURPOSE OF CRYPTO.

Don't accept crypto fill stop if you don't want a user being private @datapasa

And @luckypenguin go get ur IQ checked repeating same thing from a stupid viewpoint. Truth hurts, take it.

I wouldnt add IDEAL as a payment method, and be shocked when I have europeans.

Never pay directly from an exchange.

Paying for something and then requesting a refund to a different chain is generally seen as a money-laundering risk, I think. The idea is you may have sent them tainted coins and are now trying to get clean coins.

i'm aware, but my point was this can happen it's not immediately a red flag and should be handled by the provider with a little common sense, also stop replying without reading thread OP STATED THE COIN HE PAID WITH WAS NOT A REFUNDABLE OPTION SO HE PICKED CLOSEST THAT IS PROVIDER FAILRUE NOT OP.

Yes, and that's your viewpoint on your own life.

I'm from the UK where our rights aere being taken away daily, we can't even encrypted Imessages or a MAC anymore if registered in the UK.

You heard of Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, Afghan, I can keep going. There are plenty of reasons you would take online anonymity seriously. No point using a VPN if you use your personal email address anyway.

youru lack of online privacy or acknowledgement of the basic right people should have to practice it doesn't entitle you to keep saying the same low IQ opinion as if it's gospal. You can't be ignorant enough to think this way no assumptions you are factually incorrect.

My REGISTERED COMPANY every single service we sign-up for uses a "mail forwarder" that get's flagged continuously for a "temp mail" there WHMCS database of IP Fraud and domain lists isn't good enough to nt resolve the problem.

I'm glad your okay with your data being leaked, but personally like OP every, I mean every site except my bank and gov credentials are fake. temporary, or disguised.

When X get's leaked your name and address is on it not mine. I sleep better at night you can keep being ignorant that it's not a valid way to use the internet

(I've had my details leaked in countless large DB dumps as many others here have, difference is my data was not real)
