They may feel better that way but they also look lazy and idiotic by doing that.
Nope, it seems you didn't understand my point. I - and certainly others as well - did actually click out of sales/promo threads because series of, I'll put it very diplomatically. "friendly fluff" and/or "fun" with zero relevant informational content posts.
Whatever the problem seems to be moved towards a solution if I didn't misunderstand @jbiloh's statement.
How about those giveaway threads that are now full of bots posting images 😬?
First. For fun.
Yeaaaah! You deserve a bonus.
Which bots?
I think @edmarhub was refering to this: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/4882104/#Comment_4882104
The 'bots' being actual humans acting like bots.

In the last 24 hours there has been a surge in Grokbot signups which we see rejecting.
If any are getting through or you suspect a user is a bot let me know and we will investigate and so the needful.
I think @jsg have a good point here.
People very often (especially here on LET, it seems) confuse quantity with quality.
Just because a thread has hundreds of shitposts does not mean it generates sales. I do not have any numbers to back it up with but my guess is that all those "first", "second", "glws" and other empty garbage posts are not from people actually buying anything, they are just trying to make noise anyway to make themselves feel relevant.
But as @jsg points out, the "quantity noise" very often distances actual buyers. If I'm looking for a good deal from a serious provider a thread with pages after pages with pure noise would certainly make me loose interest in that provider.
FWIW: I have been known as a netcup fan for a long time but I just cancelled all netcup services I had. Both for a good reason. I was a fan because their root servers, while not really VDS, are of very good quality and relatively cheap. I cancelled because I wanted a 6 months billing period just like I had for almost a decade with my root server there. But they refused. I wanted to take my old servers 2nd IP4 over to my new server. But they refused and demanded that I go through some bureaucracy hoola-hoop plus it would cost more. * I of course cancelled my old server as now I had a new (and better and more expensive) one. But they refused and demanded that I pay for the full half year anyway. So, a half-year billing period is fine when it serves their interest. At the same time though it is something they simply refuse when I want it for my new server. Result: I cancelled everything with them and not only took them off from my white list but put them on my black list.
It's a fair point.
We are talking about it internally right now.
Meanwhile we have banned all Grokbots that recently signed up and put some tools in place to minimize other bot like signups.
Kindly check this https://lowendtalk.com/profile/comments/haochengw0503, i might be wrong but kindly check his post, he even mispaced his response on the old non-related threads of others 😅
Could be a bot.
Banned.

Your invoice has been doubled
Hmm, you have a point there. but these noises tends to dissipate past the first page unless it's the hosts themselves that desired it through several instructions. Take for example @dustinc 2025 BF top reply competition or @PulsedMedia multi-reply bonus or @DartNode predetermined bonus at certain reply #.
So, if you lost interest in providers that has multiple pages of filler replies or bonus claims, the problem lies on you
Perhaps you don't like megathread squad?
I dislike noise in general. If that means I'm the problem, so be it.
However, since this discussion keeps resurfacing I'm obviously not the only one.
FWIW, I definitely don't like the megathread squad because since they exist the largely just dump garbage into the forum and make LET a much less attractive place.
P.S. I guess it was created with good intentions (by @FAT32 if I'm not mistaken) but very quickly turned into a pestilence.
Is that what you think?
I think you should ask mods/admins to edit the title and append "Let's prohibit resource bonus and giveaway entry thru reply. OnlyGleam"
BS! I'm neither against resource bonus nor against giveaways - although I dislike those games for good reasons (just one example: it enables providers to link your LET account to your PI)
Why is it bad/not desirable?
If you haven't heard of, LET hosts uses it because they had to. Doubling resource indiscriminately == more problematic customer.
I will said it again,
first, second, thirdreplies are few when compared to hosts-sanctioned e.g mandatory replies required to enter giveaway or getting resource bonuseighty-fifth!
Seriously, a crackdown may be coming, so those who do this should try their best to lose their habit of doing this!
Commenting from a neutral perspective and not taking any sides here, but I do think there's a distinction between the two. When a provider encourages users to spam post something in exchange for resources, that activity is generally confined to the provider's threads created for that purpose. On the other hand, random, meaningless comments like "first", "second", "third" and so on tend to appear across numerous threads, making that type of "spam" far more widespread and unnecessary.
Either way, it doesn't really bother me because I have uBlock to filter out providers that frequently encourage spam to win stuff so I barely see their threads anymore
Just sharing my perspective since we're on the subject.
Who's still reading/posting on this thread 2 days later? Wait, this is LET and not YT, my bad...
I don't think folks do it for activity/post counts, it's just tashposting or trying to get into the giveaways since a lot only require a comment on the thread instead of the keywords that some other require. Personally, I think giveaways should require some special keyboard/post as I much rather see a post like
I-LOVE-FAT32
than first, second, glws, and so on...
I havent yet seen a provider do "Comment first for X", at most just "Comment to win X".
Racing to comment "First" and "Second" seems childish. It's like celebrating or showing off they "discovered" the post first.
