Is the IPv4 Shortage Finally Over?

According to ARIN's latest announcement on October 7, 2026, they fulfilled 483 IPv4 waiting list requests using 577 available IPv4 blocks.
What's interesting is that there are now only 64 requests remaining on the waiting list.
At this rate, it looks like organizations applying for IPv4 space today could potentially receive their allocations as early as the next quarterly distribution, assuming sufficient blocks become available.
That's quite a change from the days when organizations had to wait years for IPv4 allocations.
What do you think? Could we see IPv4 prices and leasing rates decline if this trend continues?

Only if RIPE fixes their waitlist too, but won't defer shortage by much. IPv6 is the only future proof option.
but still you can featuring your IP ranges on https://ipye.com 🗣
nah I'm fine
@yoursunny says IPv9 is the future.
Ipv4 is fucked
Ipv6 is shit format but every cow on earth can have a subnet...
Ipv9 is the future
Oh come to think of there was something IPv8 in the drafts, what's going on with that now?
For what? You can allocate an IPv6 for each grain of sand on earth, or to every planet
in the observable universe.
