Hey guys, lurker here, finally jumping in.

Saw SG just had a restock / opened up some slots. Anyone know what the expansion roadmap looks like for SG capacity? Tempted to grab a couple of boxes, but I'm worried about hitting a wall when it's time to scale up once the current node fills up.

a few more TBs of capacity is on-site waiting for install already - ETA is 1.5 weeks from now.

I can also help on installing it but cant guarantee it doesnt end up having slightly less RAM in the final build

I’ll just point out that any provider can have major issues. Any provider.

AWS has had major issues. GCP has also had major issues.

I have confidence that Onidel and their team have learned a lot and the PIR will be very interesting to read, be educational and will take steps to improve and grow.

What will be the test is what they do after that and what they implement. Which again I’m confident that it will be preventative and will improve their already pretty good service (not a customer right now, was but I had 0 issues when I was).

    I would trust them.

I get the sentiment that every provider has outages, but jumping straight from 'any provider can fail' to 'I would trust them' feels a bit premature. For customers actively dealing with the impact, trust can't just be granted on good faith—it really comes down to the concrete improvements they actually deliver.

while I’m very much appreciated all the good words and trust some of you have for us, I also do not have any issues with (constructive) criticisms and it is completely fair and understandble if questions started to raise about service quality after such an incident like this.

we always standby our products, and when things go wrong, we will look into it, take nessessary actions and then keep delivering. simple as that.

    @onidel

Sure. But a good provider is one that can take the heat and bounce back from it. And again I’ve used their services and I can vouch for it. I’ll state the reality pretty clearly, again. Anyone can make mistakes and any company can have a major incident.

End of the day we’re all human.

    Hi,

yes, the design having a watchdog kill switch in every node, in combination with the storage cluster is living on the same hardware like the compute nodes can provoke this kind of situations.

Going the way to have a 3rd, cluster independent, entity to help making decisions is good old anti-splitbrain tactic.

But yes i agree, very nice transparent way to report @onidel :-)

    Thanks!

The emails with incident details and PIR have now been sent to all affected customers.

We are issuing compensation for services affected according to our SLA policy. Please open a ticket regarding SLA if your service was affected.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused by the outage.

  • Does the SLA also apply to promotional plans?
When can we expect the service to be restored on the Turin node?
And how does the SLA apply specifically to Turin plans?

    Yes.

When can we expect the service to be restored on the Turin node?

Can't make guarantees as of now but likely at the end of this week/start of next week.

And how does the SLA apply specifically to Turin plans?

we hope to restore the node next week. for impacted Turin VMs, beside the standard SLA credit, we'll also add 2 weeks of service to the impacted services (covering the period they were running on Milan instead of Turin).

please also note that, generally, SLA compensation requests must be submitted within 48 hours of the incident occurring. if you want to do that and haven't done so, please do it today.

on another note, we'll be launching Load Balancer and Stack (Apps) in the upcoming days.

I have no plan to claim the compensation, as I am sure @onidel team has worked hard to restore all services.
More than 1 year using several services and I am happy.
I hope the Turin VM will migrated back soon.

    Any @onidel deals? @oloke

  • Why can't I find a withdrawal button for my affiliate earnings on Onidel? How can I withdraw or use the commissions I've earned? Can they be applied to purchases or invoice payments?

Affiliate withdrawal requests are now reviewed manually, so you need to put a ticket asking for the withdrawal.
The commissions can be applied to invoice payments after withdrawing them to account credits.
